’Gooch’ maybe Australia bound (From Hoganstand website)
Kerry ace Colm ’Gooch’ Cooper could be absent for most of the Kingdom’s 2008 NFL season if, as expected, he decides to fulfill a promise to himself to take a long vacation in Australia.
It is understood that Cooper is planning to take a break from Gaelic football and go Down Under to recharge his batteries.

I think it's a good idea for him to go. He's had a long year between Dr. Crokes and Kerry. It definitely didn't do Declan O' Sullivan any harm this year!

Kerry county board should hire a few of those US secret agents that provide security for Bush and use them to provide security for Gooch in the outback..........

It would be the best thing he could do, A compleat break from football for 6 monthes would totally refresh him.

Gooch is definately better off heading off to Oz for a while. He is only 24 and can easily still be wearing the number 13 in 2015. A nice 6 month break now will do him the world of good, he has the class which wont be lost by 6 months of enjoying himself.

What if he falls in love with a Sheila from Wogga Wogga lads? I'm not so sure about this one...... He could retire to stud out there to produce a strain of skillful Aussie Rules players. Imagine if he got it on with Barry Hall's sister. The perfect footballer....

ALL-IRELAND winning manager Pat O'Shea says none of his high-profile players have yet indicated that they will be taking a break from the game next season.
There has been much speculation that Colm Cooper would take a temporary break from inter-county football in the coming months, and that team veterans like Darragh O'Se and goalkeeper Diarmuid Murphy (both 32) might call it a day altogether.
Kerry captain Declan O'Sullivan and wing-forward star Paul Galvin both came back to the game re-energised after spending last winter in Australia and Cooper has mentioned that he might contemplate a similar break in the future.
But O'Shea, who is a clubmate and close confidante of Cooper's, said that only one "squad player" has mentioned taking a break this winter and he hinted strongly that 'the Gooch' will be available for the National League by saying: "Colm's name constantly comes up about going away but Colm is very happy where he is and he enjoys working in Killarney.
"Obviously if they want to take a break, that's a personal decision for Colm and for all the other players. It's an amateur game, they're not getting paid to stay around and deal with what we have to deal with week in and out," he added. ___________________________________________________
Any ideas who that one squad member could be??
