Nope but Connor keane scoring 2-5 and Gavin o Grady the only player for Kerry that actually played scoring over 6 points I was asking in the hope that you would write up a match report for us exiles but veteran did the job. Keane is making some progress- do people see him and savage getting near the senior panel anytime soon?

ITT up 9 points with a few mins left. Absolutely disgraceful. this is the biggest crisis for Kerry football since they failed to score in the second half against Mayo in the league

Are we officially in crisis now?

Hard to say. We were defo in crisis two years ago. Spillane confirmed it.
I think we are just at an "advanced stage of transition".
Former Kerry footballer Pat Spillane says there is a crisis among the county’s footballers, who are paying the price for failing to develop younger players in recent years.
The Kingdom have lost their first two National League games – to Mayo and Dublin – and Spillane feels that the blending of old and new players is not working.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport, Spillane explained: “Two matches, two defeats and the statistics make grim reading, with a paltry scoring return.
“Yes, Kerry are a team in transition, but the older lads have lost that yard or two of pace and the younger guys are just not good enough. The county are now paying the price for not bringing through adequate minor and U-21 sides over the last 20 years.
“Against Dublin our kick passing was poor, but more worrying was the lack of intensity, pace and passion. You can criticise players for many things, but when they don’t have heart, and many on the Kerry team did not show heart against the Dubs, then it is time to worry.”
The pundit added: “It is a crisis with a capital C.
“Three tough away games against Kildare, Donegal and Tyrone await and with Division 1 being very competitive this year, Kerry are going to find it tough. The rebuilding should have started last year.”

Are we officially in crisis now? Kerry are either in crisis or winning "soft All Irelands"- we seem to do very little else

I remember the day after that Dublin defeat well. Rte sent 2 reporters outside their studios, one to rome for the election of a new pope and the other to Kerry(Marty Morrisey) to see what was wrong with Kerry football. Jason Sherlock then wrote a fairly disgusting article in the paper, among other things he criticized Kieran Donaghy for taking a picture of himself at the super bowl while on honeymoon. I remember counting the number of players unavailable due to injury/club commitments etc. and it was something like 15 players including the likes of Declan and Donaghy only returning as subs. The media has a responsibility for fair and balanced coverage but sadly they far too often scrape the bottom of the barrel in order to create controversy and make easy money

Still, the media can talk us down all they want. Likewise, they can big up our rivals. All fine by me. It's when the media were exercising their influence to shaft selected players, as in a few years back, that I had a problem. Thankfully, those particular witch hunts seem to be over.

Just goes to highlight what an eejit Spillane is looking back at that piece. Apparently a lack of intensity and passion is more worrying than the players not being able to kick a pass.

Why didn't Daragh meet the media after the game. I read a comment in one of the papers that he ' "was continuing his non - cooperation with the press" or words to that effect. It was the first I had heard of it. Anybody able to shed any light on this?

I thought Cillian Fitzgerald played for UL in this competition last week. Was that a different C Fitzgerald so?! Yep. Cillian Fitzgerald of UL is the Crokes player, brother of Fionn. Cillian Fitzgerald on tomorrow's panel is the Churchill forward, who is related to Kieran Donaghy. Either his nephew or first cousin, pretty sure he's Donaghy's nephew. Churchill Fitz is underage for U21 this year, Crokes one is a year his senior and is now overage. Cheers for the update. Only saw your reply now. Steely UCC have too much class www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/steely-ucc-have-too-much-class-307467.htmlSaturday, January 17, 2015 - By Murt Murphy McGrath Cup semi-final UCC 0-18 IT Tralee 0-6 Sigerson Cup holders UCC proved too strong for IT Tralee in this McGrath Cup semi-final played under lights at IT Tralee last night and now face the winners of the Cork- Waterford clash. The game was played on a heavy sod and with heavy showers, both teams coped admirably with the conditions. But it was UCC’s all-round strength, particularly their all-Kerry full-forward line of Thomas Hickey, Conor Cox and Paul Geaney who did most damage, kicking some excellent points. In fact IT Tralee only scored one point from play and that came from centre- forward Conor Keane in the 63rd minute with the rest of their tally coming from converted frees by Jack Savage. UCC, thanks to their midfield dominance, raced 0-10 to 0-2 clear at half-time with Conor Cox, Luke Connolly, Sean Kiely with two and Brian O’Driscoll with two points their top marksmen. Tralee could not handle the attacking surges of Brian O’Driscoll, who kicked two superb points, while Luke Connolly was a handful on the 40, though he was guilty of missing an open goal in the 11th minute. Tralee’s ploy of playing extra men behind the ball meant they left only Pádraig O’Shea up front so their chances of troubling the UCC defence were remote. Conor Keane was being well shackled by his Legion teammate Podge O’Connor, while young Jack Savage had to forage too deep for possession. Tralee were always playing second fiddle at midfield where the Cork-Kerry pairing of Ian Maguire and Gary O’Sullivan ruled the roost and set up a platform for their dangerous attackers to amass a haul of 0-18 but UCC boss Billy Morgan will not be happy at some of his side’s poor shooting, and throughout the 70 minutes they created only a single goal chance. Two early second-half Conor Cox points made the game safe and though Tralee had spirited performers in Peter Nash, Cillian Cromwell and Cian Horan, UCC were just too good, and Morgan introduced six second-half subs as the Cork side coasted to victory. Scorers for UCC: C. Cox 0-6 (0-1 free) T. Hickey 0-3 (0-1 free) B. O Driscoll, P. Geaney, S. Kiely (0-2 each), G O Sullivan, L. Connolly and D. Harrington (0-1 each) IT Tralee scorers: J. good kerry involvement with ucc.these games and sigerson cup can really toughen fellas up for senior inter county football, more so than u21 grade. culhane and cox both back from their travels will surely be back in senior setup, maybe have to use county juniors as stepping stone as penance. cox can really provide options in attack.
interesting to see gary o sullivan cutting it at midfield. is he in with the u21? didnt see his name anywhere.

Waterford beat Cork 0-8 to 0-7 in the 2nd semi final played in Clashmore today. For the record like - as Waterford haven't beaten cork in competitive game since 1957 - almost 60 years ago. Cork got 1 point from play

Fair play to Waterford.
Doesn't mean Cork are done though!!! They are still very dangerous, especially in Munster championship.

Obviously doesnt mean Cork are done - but that's a shocking result any way you slice it. Out of the 20 who featured today for Cork at least 7 have won Celtic Crosses and it's not as the rest of the squad is made up of lads pulled out of the crowd to make up the numbers. Dublin up to start in the league and 4 trips up North for the neighbours - it could get a lot more amusing in the next few weeks.

Well I was talking to a Corkman this morning who was looking forward with glee to Morgan v Cuthbert in the final and was giving me fierce guff about IT Tralee beating Kerry, so I'm going to enjoy this result for a while yet. Also with the stories I've heard about Cuthbert and how he's treated the various players, it's not hard to enjoy seeing him look a bit foolish.

No on this occasion you can safely underestimate us. We are going downhill fast and there is actually a good chance we won't be playing ye in Munster this year. We play Clare or Limerick (probably Limerick) but will have to forfeit home advantage because of the re-development of Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Limerick (who are in a division above Waterford remember) will be licking their lips at the prospect of taking us on in their own back yard.
