Coming up to Christmas as it is, I was wondering myself who would get manager of the year. I think it is a 2 horse race Eamonn and Joe Schmidt - with Brian Cody probably the third best, Pat Lam has done great work too. I think this category should be added. Eamonn gets my vote but it is two managers with different styles and Joe is emerging as a great international figure.

What Eamon has done this year is as good as any football manager has done in the past couple of years, given the retirements and injuries. And won with style: not always! but the majority of the time.

Bizarre moment of the year:The unbeatable Dubs even with Uncle Joe in charge still get a 6 point hammering from Donegal and the immaculate Cluxton leaves in 3 goals and still gets an All Star nomination while another player who is destroyed in this game gets an All Star award.

Footballer of the year: James O’Donoghue
Hurler of the year: Richie Hogan
Kerry Player Of the year: James O’Donoghue
Club of the year: Brosna in Kerry....Nationally - Cratloe
Performance of the year in football: David Moran V Mayo replay. Epic.
Performance of the year in hurling: Seamus Callanan v Galway.
Minor of the year: Shane Ryan.
Football Game of the year: Kerry V Mayo Replay.
Hurling Game of the Year; 2014 Munster Club Hurling Cratloe v Kilmallock.
Sportsbook of the year: Haven’t read any this year.
Forum Contributor of the year: Annauscaul, Veteran and Jo90.
Forum "Provider" of the Year: Sullyschoice for his pics, Mickmack for the wit!
Non-Kerry Forum Contributor of the Year: Donegalman.
Disappointment of the year: 1. Gooch's injury. I knew the minute I saw it on TV that sadly, the game was up for him for 2014. Foolishly I thought the same applied to Kerry. I will never learn.
2. The retirement of that old school legend Declan.
Bizarre Moment Of The Year: Not wishing to reopen any debates in this season of goodwill but the abiding one for me is not a moment, more of a growing atmosphere of acceptance. The seemingly docile acceptance now that the GAA as a 2 tier organisation, where rules, agreements and principles are as changeable as the weather and are definitely very “flexible” when there is a need to satiate the God of Mammon.
See Skygate, Garthgate, US Footiegate and all the patronising sh*tetalking that was done at the time of the semi-final replay.
Oh that some County Board would stand up and be counted on this one. Alas, it won’t be ours.

Don't get Cratloe as club of the year, They won Co Championship in both codes but lost both in Munster. Would have been better to contest one and win it?

Did Slaughtneil not win Derry football and hurling? win the Ulster football and get to the final of Ulster Hurling. What about club who win Scór Camogie and Ladies football competitions? In other words why just football and Hurling.

Don't know about Ulster to be honest and I'm not an expert on Scor in any way, shape or form.
Just giving my view on what I know, which I think is what this forum is supposed to be about.

I would agree with, well a lot of the general consensus above, plus .... Forum Character: Annascaultilidie. He gives us all a lift with his mind-bending, brainwave observations, E.g. "All rectangles are parallelograms but all squares are rectangles". So does one deduce that all squares are parallelograms Tomás? What is the learning point, apart from a good laugh? Forum Match Reporter: Veteran. Well who else? Yip, I'd say he costs the GAA a fortune, why bother going to a game when reading what Veteran says is like being there? Forum Provider: Sully. Still that old pic of his stands out, the one of the team breaking away after the pre match photo, it was used as a banner on here! Reinvented Sportsman and Nobel Nominee: Star. I am amazed that this pretty much went under the radar. Kieran overcame a lot of personal challenges and given the mileage and years on the clock the logical thing would be to hang up the boots. Instead he kept at it and by all accounts he was a big driver of the younger lads and who were of course pushing him out. Alas the big man was called for and, well history will now be even kinder to him. That save in the sky in Limerick vs Mayo replay and his goal vs Donegal were breathtaking moments. His perfect execution of the latter is shadowed by the circumstances: just how many players would have converted I ask? He made it look easy but it wasn't and then consider his vigilance in ensuring that if his gut instinct about the kick-outs proved right, that he would be ready and waiting to exploit any eventuality. This is what separates greats from the greatest. There is no letting up with him in every sense and he has now also transformed himself into a great leader on and off the field. Fitzy had him 'managing' B teams in challenges and which was another master stroke that had multiple benefits. It is things like this that make the difference and bear in mind that there was scarcely a kick of a ball between any of the 4 semi finalists. Fitzy tells a nice inspiring story on this on 14.50 mins at www.newstalk.ie/player/podcasts/Off_The_Ball/GAA_on_Off_The_Ball/71740/2/Eamon_Fitzmaurice
