Shannon Rangers being involved in county championship and lixnaw in the hurling would be a problem straight away anyway in terms of fixtures, plus it normally doesnt start until this week anyway, the all ireland final delays things.
This years championship is going to be a late one!

Gonna shout for Tarbert for no particular reason. Tomás, why change the habit of a lifetime? Now that's what I call freedom of speech, democracy, determination, fearlessness, wow! Annascaul has now proven to be what we long suspected, a nation of free democracy that dwarfs America, India, maybe even Knocknagoshel! Now I don't know what you Annascaul people drink but the next time I'm passing I'll be droppin' in for a large one of that top shelf, spirit! Take a bow man, we have Sam by the ears, JJ Hanrahan converts 3 and Annascaul declares independence! Up the proletariat!

Any fixtures yet? Surely Moyvane V Duagh can go ahead anyway first off? This is the latest NK chamoionship i can remember anyway and if Shannon Rangers win tomorrow, it will be delayed even more.

If lixnaw win today they will have munster club hurling to compete for which delays things further

Favourites - Listowel will once again carry the favourites tag, however if Desmonds decide to give this a go they should be able to reverse last years final result and will take beating. Contenders - Brosna will be looking to go a step further than last year as will Finuge who should be in good shape following there Hurling success and could over turn the favourites in the game of the round Dark Horses - Beale will be quietly confident of success and have a very easy passage to the semi finals, who knows after that, worth a punt. Outsiders - Tarbert if they can get over Brosna in the first round could mount a challenge, however not the force they were in previous years, Ballyduff always have the ability and all teams will fear playing them, likely opponents will be Desmonds in the Quarter Finals and depending on which Desmonds turn up, who knows, Duagh and Moyvane will both make this list however I would be more than surprised if either are togging out come December. And the rest - Senens, Ballylongford, Assde, Knocknagashel and Ballydonoghue appear out of there depth and do not expect anything further than a semi final spot.

Moyvane 2-12 Duagh 0-6 HT 1-8 0-4
It is said that only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun. I am not sure what type of animal is thought to venture out in a Moyvane mid-afternoon monsoon. I suppose it is those with some kind of a chemical imbalance. In any case , a few score of us did brave the inclemency of the weather. Our reward? Well, the game was too one sided to be a contest but we were treated to a sparkling display by a largely youthful Moyvane side. Indeed, considering the downpour, their display was extraordinary. As evidence of this be mindful of the fact that about 2-9 came fom play.
The tone was set early on with clever deployment of foot and hand passing , complemented by relentless, smart running into space. Not surprisingly, they registered 1-3 early on and on a wet, winter's day, that was likely to be a very difficult lead to reel in. There was no reeling in , rather a stretching of the advantage with persistent application of the heretofore slickness which continued unabated to the final whistle. A depleted Duagh team were tedious in comparison and never looked like making an impression in spite of forcing the Moyvane goalie, Brendan Galvin, to make a couple of good saves in the second half, one a brilliant one handed effort from a well struck shot by Daniel O'Donoghue, who was about the only Duagh forward to pose some danger.
In truth, Movvane were dominant in most sectors. Bill Madden at full back was impregnable, while Eamon O'Flaherty and Eoin Stack were stylish half backs. Shane Stack was the better midfielder, scoring a couple of long range points. But it was in the forwards where most of the adroitness was exhibited, with all six being comfortable controlling that bar of soap. Con Mulvihill got both goals, playing in the corner. The first was brilliantly finished while the second resulted from his dispossession of the goalie. Con also scored a point. He plays with the poise of a Patrick Curtain. Aiden Keane got two from play and two from frees. There was a point each from Damien Flynn, D.J. Keane and Ian McCarthy. Brian Stack on the forty did not score from play but was an inventive, imaginative play maker.
Aaron O'Connor was probably the best of the Duagh backs. Two years ago when Duagh won the title, Jeremiah Kelly was their man of the match playing in goals. Today he alternated between midfield and the half forward line. He played with heart and body but tired as the game went on. In reality, Anthony Maher was playing a lone hand. He caught a few colossal ones and kicked two frees. If he had one or two decent forwards his contribution would have been more significant but, sadly, those forwards were no where to be seen.
There is no doubt this youthful Moyvane crew were polished and progressive but this assessment must be tempered by the impoverishment of the opposition. Of course, if Patrick Curtain could make an appearance they could be reaching for the stars. Either way, after a while in the doldrums, it is pleasant to see this hotbed of football on the move again. All Duagh can do is reflect of the glory of 2012.

Poor intensity to the game. Duagh seemed like they were only there to make up numbers. Never seen a team roll over in a north kerry championship as easily

Moyvane 2-12 Of course, if Patrick Curtain could make an appearance they could be reaching for the stars. Is he playing any sort of ball? He did feature in the interfirms for Liebherr earlier in the year and I heard that whatever he's doing in Liebherr involves some travelling (not sure of that though) For a lad who played championship for Kerry in 2013, it would be a bit odd to go from that to playing no ball at all.

Duagh had 4 at training Wednesday so was expected and well backed bookies wise in North Kerry... Listowel training very well so will be hard to beat again this year as they always are in the nkc! Semi final 4 to be beale, Brosna, Listowel and casteisland... Anything can happen after that.. final to be played around March... LOL

What is the overall standard in NK these days? Have we lost many to emigration? Would some have moved to say Dublin and didn't keep it up? How are we competing with rugby and soccer?
Maybe it is the way of these things but teams seem to win and then collapse. I suppose with the general trend of rural depopulation it will hardly change.

Maybe it is the way of these things but teams seem to win and then collapse. I suppose with the general trend of rural depopulation it will hardly change. Sad very sad, standard of football going down hill majorally for last few years, great intensity, atmosphere, part and parcel, of North Kerry Championship, but of what I saw this wkend both teams that lost, might as well stayed home, Duagh of 2 years ago Champions, not scratch of what they were, Tarbert previous year!!!, how come both teams failing away so fast, Duagh I know knocked out Junior Champ, just before wkend, is hard come back from that, but they made no effort what so ever, Tarbert, forgot to come out in First half, kicked their only point last kick of First Half. Shannon Rangers did the same in County Senior Champ Semifinal, never scored first half also!!!!!! For Div 2 team, nearly failed to score in First half, asks alot questions, is it players, management, or North Kerry Board,Hats off to Moyvane yesterday, darkhorses to the fore Brosna for semifinals on their display today.
