Fantastic rousing speech. Ive uploaded it to youtube and it includes a montage at the end where a Kerry fan does a cartwheel on the field with a banjaxed umbrella in his hand!
Its like deja vu after watching the 2006 speech. Same camera angle, and same President
And who can forget Dara's 2004 speech

OK, the audio on my laptop ain't the best. Could anyone tell me what Declan said in the opening of his speech about questioning the character of this team?
I suppose seeing as the RTÉ cameras missed Galvin standing on the podium, we don't have that clip?!

How many underage medals did the famous Mr. Umbrella man, who took to the field after the 2007 AIF, win? A bonus point if anyone can tell me who his third cousin's grand-aunt, on the other side, was married to? ;D

Not at all Billy - Joe Connolly's in 1981 with the Galway hurlers.....and himself and Joe McDonagh roaring 'The West's Awake' after it. Galway and the surrounding counties were riddled with immigration at the time and his acknowledgement of this - when people felt the West was literally dying - in such a wonderfully poetic and hair raising way was moving and joyous all at once.
God bless the net, I have it here:
"People of Galway, after fifty-seven years the All-Ireland title is back in Galway…It’s wonderful to be from Galway on a day like today. There are people back in Galway with wonder in their hearts, but also we must remember (Galway) people in England, in America, and round the world and maybe they are crying at this moment…People of Galway, we love you!"

Just a quick question while we're on the subject of Declan and he being the captain, Does he actually keep the Sam Maguire over the winter or is it locked up safely by the Co. Board? Just curious really , he'd need a big mantlepiece!
