There's a lot of anger among people on rebelgaa.com about what Pat O' Shea said in his speech last night. I didn't hear it so I can't comment but apparently he was rubbing our noses in it and made some very unsporting comments. Can anyone enlighten me?

Ask the people on rebelgaa.ie, if they are that angry they should clarify.

I would be very surprised if Pat O shea was disrespectful in his speech, but I wasnt there unfortunately.
Maybe he caught something off billy morgan when he hugged him after the match (that was a humourous comment before anyone gets on their high horse)

Ask the people on rebelgaa.ie, if they are that angry they should clarify. I dunno, maybe they are exaggerating but he said something like "we showed that crowd over the border what football is all about etc. etc.".

I would be surprised also. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I would get angry about the performance of my team first though.

I wouldn't take any notice of what was said at the Kerry homecoming. The players and manager don't think anyone outside of Kerry is listening and are happy to say anything to get a reaction out of the crowd. Gooch was talking about the 3-in-a-row when normally that wouldn't be mentioned at all. Apparently there was only 200 people at the Cork homecoming which is a disgrace for a team in their first All-Ireland in 8 years. Kerry fans aren't the best but at least in 2002 there was a few thousand in Killarney for the homecoming after losing the All-Ireland.

I heard a bit on Radio Kerry. He said something lmore ike 'and as for our neighbours across the border, there is only one football team in these parts and that's the Kingdom'.
I did think on hearing it that it seemed a bit out of character.
Healy-Rae did not disguise his pleasure that Kerry beat Dublin and put them into the ground.

A bit more grace in victory might have been warranted. I would still like to see the full quotes though.

Piggy , calm down a bit. As far as I am aware nobody on this forum has accused Pat of rubbing their noses in it.
Jo90 is spot on.

They've this up on Hoganstand.com:
Kerry senior footballer Tom O’Sullivan has warned his Cork neighbours in Rathmore that it could be another two decades before they see the Sam Maguire Cup.
O’Sullivan was speaking at the homecoming for the famous cup at his home town in the company of fellow local Aidan O’Mahony and the rest of the Kerry party as 15,000 fans celebrated yet another All-Ireland SFC triumph.
"If there are any Cork supporters here ye probably didn’t see the Sam Maguire for 10 years," O’Sullivan told the hooping crowds. "But as long as this team is around ye won’t see it for 20 years.

That's unfair of hoganstand.com to put that up. It's a humorous comment in front of his local people, it's not worthy of being one of their news items. Scum journalism seems to be growing in this country

I get so tired of hearing all the cliched answers from players and managers from all over the country - general statements, playing up how good the other team is and that its a team game and we have a panel of 30 etc etc. The only time we hear anything different is when the deed is done after the all-ireland is won and the masks come off. It was refreshing to hear Paul Galvin really open up on the Sunday Game, and Pat O Shea/Sean Walsh were bursting with emotion in Tralee last night. Some of Weeshie's interviews with the players in the dressing room afterwards were frank as well. There is all this talk of what Pat said, but Michael Healy Rae completely went to town about how good it was to bate Dublin, and it wasnt too diplomatic either. Here is the speeches from the homecoming in tralee. www.moyvane.com/av/homecoming_2007.mp3and here is Pat's speech in Killarney a couple of hours later where emotions got the better of him.....in his home town.....with his own people......and with Sam! www.moyvane.com/av/patoshea_speech.mp3

All a bit of banter. Cork people are well able to take and give a slagging. I would be surprised if many of them were too upset.
This is pure tabloid journalism
