Any ideas of the Development Squads U14-U17 this year? Or have they been finalised?

Any praise of course has to be tempered and balanced with the question 'how good were the opposition' but, at any rate, Kerry were clinical and did their job with a lot of style. On how good were Tipperary - I had heard at the weekend that things were in a bad way in the Tipp camp and that they were rated as a fair bit behind previous years' minors by those in the county. I wasn't 100% sure if it wasn't a bit of the poor mouth but based on the result it looks like it was on the money. The fact that they only beat Waterford by 4 points would seem to add to the notion that this wasn't a particularly strong minor team. No offense to Waterford but some of the stories of how the Waterford County Board consistently treat their football minors compared to their minor hurlers really show where their priorities lie. Had actually meant to have a bet on based on what I had heard - (not really a gambler at all)but was too busy and forgot about it until too late. As you said Kerry did their job in a very positive style but I really wouldn't be getting carried away just yet especially when we've the oul enemy to face in their patch before we're out of Munster. The fact that we have at least a final 8 spot even if we lose is a lovely positive. I spoke to a few lads involved with the Kildare minors, they played Tipperary twice and beat them comfortably, by 12 and 9 points. Kildare aren't as strong as they were last year by a long way. However, Kerry's attitude was exceptional on Wednesday night, I believe and as was already mentioned here, a place in the last eight is a great bonus. Much to plan for and look forward to.

Does anyone else feel Brian Begley's lack of real stature might come against the team. It won't be exposed when Kerry play Cork in Munster Final cause Michael Hurley isn't a huge man but Kerry's inability over the years under the high ball has been well documented. I too have been mighty impressed with the performances this year but feel somewhat bemused that Kerry's lack of strength is yet to be mentioned even though last year's minors were constantly under scrutiny over it even though they have arguably the physically stronger team I.e Shane Connor, Greg Horan, Cathal Long. No1 is a bigger advocater of picking the more talented guy over brawn but this is the only slight negitive to take out of two seriously good performances

He would be better suited as a corner back because of his lack of physicality but who would you put full back?

Dingle beat Dr Crokes tonight in the County League final 0-13 to 0-10. Ref spoiled a good game in my opinion. Made alot of poor calls and made a fool of himself at one stage by giving the Crokes a free in and going to his umpires and changing his mind for no reason known to anyone in Stacks Park and hopped the ball. Barry Sullivan was my man of the match ran himself into the ground and gave an exhibition of fielding. The duel between Micheál Burns and Tom Sullivan was immense. Think Burns kicked 3 points from play but was kept under wraps by Tom Sullivan who kicked 2 points from play himself. The two best club teams in the county from what I've seen this year.

The free was disallowed for kiely kicking a dingle player off the ball during the incident. Tom sullivan and conor geaney were very classy tonight.

The performance of the referee really spoiled the game. His incompetance, along with that of his umpires, was hard to believe. He was not physically fit to keep up with the play and consistantly made very poor decisions. Crokes can rightly feel that they were on the wrong end of most of these calls. The incident with overtuning the free was one of the worst decisions I have ever seen. Not only was it a free in but it was also a black card should have been issued.
Dingle were the better side over the hour and deserved the win.

Great game of football lots of skill and talent shown. Poor ref spoiled the game should have been a black card on both sides and did not use the advantage rule whatsoever.

I think it was the Crokes No. 4, not Jordan Kiely, that the ref spoke to after the free in had been given and I also thought that the ref reacted to some dissent from the sideline. He should actually have allowed the free (he had already awarded it) but booked the player in question if he deemed it appropriate. I actually thought that the referee was wondering if the foul had occurred inside the square and was considering a penalty. I felt the referee spent far, far too long in consultation with his officials throughout the game. Micheal Burns excelled for Crokes, as might be expected, but I was also hugely impressed with MacDara De Bhilis, who I thought put up a great battle in midfield. Jack Lenihan at no. 2 also had a good game. Jordan Kiely and Conchuir O Suilleabhain had a great duel. Conchuir O Geibheannaigh did huge damage and got the Man of the Match Award, while I thought Gareth hIci O Brosnochain did trojan work and no. 13 had a great second half, but there is no doubt in my mind that Barra O Suilleabhain was by far and away the most effective footballer on the pitch. Crokes were always trailing by a few points - they dominated possession in the third quarter but kept running it too deep into a cleverly crowded defence - Dingle were very astute tactically. Very enjoyable game, but unfortunately a small crowd. A small thing, but I noticed on the programme that the Dingle players names on the programme had English translations after them, and I noticed at the Kerry minor games that apart from Tomas O Se of Gaeltacht, all the names were in English. Is that a new policy?

Conor Geaney and Aidan o'Connor from Dingle will be Kerry Minors next year . Geaney is unlucky not to be on the panel this year . Conor O'Sullivan is a solid back and must have been close too . MacDara Willis is unlucky too not to be on the panel . Gavin White and Adam O'Shea also from Crokes next year . The standard in Kerry has been pretty good and there should be a good Kerry minor team there next year also . Darragh Sheehy from Ballydonoghue , Evan Cronin from Spa , Sean Curry from Annascaul , Diarmuid Keating from Skellig Rangers will be close next year . This one of our better minor teams . Shane Ryan , Brian Sugrue , Barry O'Sullivan , Matt Flaherty , Miceal Burns , and Killian Spillane are all solid and should be all on the U21 panel next year .

2 changes with Kearney and Coffey coming in. Morgan and Barry, 2 Tralee men who are incidentally under age again next year, dropping out. To accommodate Kearney in midfield, Mark O'C moves to wing back in an entirely new half back line with Coffey on the other wing and O'Donoghue captaining the side from 6. To complete the changes Sugrue moves from wing back to corner back.

Looks to be huge competition with this panel of players- new guys on the bench, some of whom are returning from injury - I believe that Wharton was one of the stars last week for South Kerry in their win over East Kerry in the U-21 championship.

is cian o connor desmonds off the panel?, i know he was injured. good to see wharton and carey coming back sure to strenghten the panel. forwards are settled which will stand to them. 40% win at midfield should see them home.
saw laune rangers v kenmare last weekend was very impressed by macbeth at 10, fine strong player.

I'm disappointed not to see Mark o Connor at midfield, Liam Kearney must be playing some crazy good football to move Mark to wing back

Cian O Connor is gone off the panel dont think he made great progress with his rehabbing at all. Liam Kearney is supposed to be flying in training by all accounts, think Mark has been carrying an injury also. Think they'll play Mark as a third midfielder, could dominate here if all 3 are on song. A very strong looking team though in my opinion.

Agree that the starting fifteen is as strong as anything else out there , would be a little bit worried about the bench no game changers on it
