How do you think David Coldrick handled the game yesterday. I felt he was very hesitant and didnt let the game flow, so many frees(some of which werent frees at all). It would probably be easier to count those who didnt receive "warnings" than those who did.

Felt he was very poor,no flow to the game especially in the first half, should have definately had a peno aswell when star was fouled.

The ref's job is not to let the game "flow." Its to make decisons on scores and to blow fouls. If there's no fouls the game will flow. That's up to the players on both teams not the ref. Yesterday, he was firm on the rules and blew everything. Not biased though - equally hard on both teams. Missed the jersey pull down of Donaghy in the square, might have been playing advantage? The bookings were a bit harsh though - it was a very clean game by and large.

Think he is a poor ref overall but did you see the politician coming out in Declan O Sullivan in his speech, thanking David Coldrick for a good job...You can't beat a cute kerryman!!!However must say i don't think he was particularly bad in Kerry's direction, just his stop/start flowing of the game..

the refs are getting alot of pressure from the refs assessors. brian cody had a big rant about this earlier in the year. common sense is 1 thing that those lads that monitor refs could badly do with.overall, i though he was average at best. too many frees given for silly little things.

I was surprised that he got reasonable reviews in the press as I thought he was at best average and contributed to what was a very poor spectacle for the neutral, especially the first half. The only advantage he played was when Donaghy was pulled down in the square and could have had a penalty. I think part of the problem is the implementation of the black card. It puts pressure on the ref to stop play , get the player to turn around and show his number and write it down. By this stage the offending team have 12/13 players behind the ball and the advantage is lost. This makes it attractive to commit 'professional' fouls in the opposition half and if you're clever each player can commit 3 of these without getting sent off . Both teams were guilty of this yesterday but as in most things kerry were that bit cuter and more professional in how they did it especially the forwards. I think Bryan Sheehan was close to being the first player booked yesterday as he must have committed 2/3 of these fouls in the first half. Anyway probably a discussion for another day but it's something that annoys me.

maybe they could take the black card thing away and go back to the olden days! simple things like a blatant push/jersey pull inside the 45 should be punished with a yellow straight away. the yellow card means that players can do at least 2 cynical fouls before they get a yellow

Paul was unlucky.
That yellow card effectively meant he was was going to be substituted.

Can't understand 2 yellow cards... Paul Galvins and Padraig Reidy's. Paul fouled Lynch.... nothing serious about it and Reidy was actually fouled himself... anyone shed any light on either yellow card?
