Next score wins in a GAA match!!!
Final score was Galway 2-11 Kerry 1-13
Cork beat Mayo 4-17 to 1-5 so Kerry will play Mayo tommorrow.
Have to think that for the lads a game against Mayo isnt going to be as competitive as a game against Cork would have been.

Beat Mayo by 2-19 to 0-5 and Monaghan by 4-13 to 1-4
Fairly decent day's work by the U16s, winning both games by 20 points.

Beat Mayo by 2-19 to 0-5 and Monaghan by 4-13 to 1-4 Fairly decent day's work by the U16s, winning both games by 20 points. Was in Mitchels today and a fantastic display of football was put on by our u16 squad. They played with great spirit showed tremendous work rate and topped it off with skills and technique, huge credit must go to their coaches who I heard have been working tirelessly behind the scenes with this bunch of players. To comprehensively beat Mayo and Monaghan who won the Ulster u16 this year argues well for the future and sets things up nicely for next weekend ..... Only grip I have is that there was no programme available, it would be nice to track these players over the next few years and all also no coverage of this tournament in the media so come on county board it's not all about eamon and jack you know .

Oops - mucked up that post.
I hear what you say about a program kick out.. However in many ways it is no harm to allow these lads develop without too much public attention. They are still young and some of the comments comments that can be made on forums such as this could be detrimental to young lands. Great performance today - good teamwork and skills on display. The opposition ws disappointing and it would be easy to get carried away with the results - sterner tests will lie ahead.

Would the Kerry minors have many 17 year olds on the panel/team? Presumably they'd be excluded.

This was probably a lot of these young fellas 1st time representing their county at this level so I feel they should be supported like any other kerry team. Why these games were not advertised on radio or in newspapers baffle me as it was a quiet weekend sports wise and am sure a lot of people would have loved to have known so that they could have gone and watched them. Also don't think too many teenagers spend their time reading forums like this

Think about 8 lads involved with minor panel that will still be there next year to link up with this years u17's and some of the 16's. Should make a reasonable squad - no doubt there will be a few new faces also.

Surely Jacko was present yesterday?

I really think that there is no real need to be giving lads in U16/U17 development squad all that much in the way of publicity. They can be proud of their great performances but at the end of the day they're still only kids. Time enough for media attention and all that crack down the road.
As a comparison I heard that one of the Limerick papers had 28 pages devoted to their minor hurlers before the All-Ireland final. Putting that much attention on kids surely can't have helped.

Were not looking for a 28 page supplement on the young lads were asking for a simple list of names of the players so people have an idea who are representing our county at that age! Was meant to go and watch the 17s but was unable to after all! Pity they lost it in such heart breaking fashion!

Yeah but thing is, if a list of names is released we'll end up with 28 pages of BS on here with every no it all saying how this 16th year old isn't worth his spot and "can't believe that 17th yr old hasn't been called up" (clubmate of poster of course! ). We can say all we want that it wouldn't happen...but we all know it would!
