Maybe ye shouldn't be discussing lads of that age on here?

Maybe ye shouldn't be discussing lads of that age on here? Why not? Some of them will hopefully one day be playing with Kerry senior teams so would be interesting to see who they are

Annascaultilidie there's a difference between looking at the panels and discussing the players. I agree that there's no need to be discussing them but there's no harm in looking at the panels.

I see alot of Ballydonoghue players mentioned are they that good u16 this year they are? must be the same team that won the Kerry Féile few years ago coming true. Quite a few from Gneeveguilla there too just unusual to see these smaller clubs have numerous repersentatives. only saw one u16 game this year myself that was an East Kerry final between Crokes & Spa, one Crokes player stood out he took the frees off the ground don't know what his name was but looks to have a great future ahead off him.

Ballydonoghue and Gneeveguila have some prospects alright . The Crokes players you are talking about would be Adam O'Shea . Good player . His father Ger played with Crokes in the 90s . I am missing a lot of players . These are players that I know about .

I don't know how anyone could think that this is an inappropriate thread. I think it is the most appropriate, if only because it is the only place to have such an exchange and it enables those in the know to share it with those of us who don’t have the opportunity to see under age games regularly.
In the longer term a mapping of progress would be an interesting project to demonstrate the feeder system and identify any trends that might be useful for management and selectors. Tracking a lad from underage to one day climbing The Hogan Stand should delight anyone.

I could not agree more I think we should be talking about the underage talent in the county . It's important for Kerry to start winning again at underage level to keep producing great players . why not .

Michael O' Donnell from Stacks is playing great football right now . I would say he is the best u16 player in the County right now . He was Midfield on the Stacks minors that won Division One this year . Could be a Kerry minor next year . Maybe Full Forward . Another player i have seen that stands out is Dean Fitzgerald from Rathmore . He is only 15 years old but he has all the skills to make it .

I am missing a lot of players . These are players that I know about . He had a lovely stroke of a ball real classy player, kicked one from the 14 yard line out ontop of the sideline, such a brilliant sight to see from off the ground at such a young age. correct me if I'm wrong "NaCrocaigh" but i saw an U14 East Kerry Final last year in the park it was one of the best underage games i'd seen in a while between Crokes Vs. Gneeveguilla end to end stuff, is he the same player who played mid-field for Crokes and kicked the free's off the ground as well as knocking over 2 or 3 45's?? very impressive for an u14. in the same game the Gneeveguilla full forward kick 2 or 3 goals as well always looked dangerous when he got the ball. now i think of it no wonder you mentioned alot of Gneeveguilla players that was a great team.

That would be Billy Courtney . He played midfield last year . He is a great player very skillful . He should be a Kerry minor also . The Gneeveguilla player is Shane O' Sullivan . Gneeveguilla have 5 or 6 very good players on that team . Crokes would have 5 or 6 of that team also that could be good . David Naughton , Aodhan De Brun , David Shaw , Kieran Fitzpatrick , and Mark Hartnett . Gneeveguilla players Ger Cronin , Con O' Connor , J.J. Herlihy , Ciaran O' Connor , John O'Leary , and Jamie Brosnan . You will hear about these players in the future mark my words .

lol You guys haven't a clue if you think "Annauscaltilidie" is wrong to question this thread!!!
Look at most other threads on this forum, they get personal and very critical, not to mention very parochial. I'd love to discuss underage football here and talk positively, but that won't be the case. 15 year olds and 16 year olds are going to have their abilities questioned, whilst others will have their abilities inflated. Neither is fair on any CHILD!
But in saying that, it is nice to see so many taking an interest in underage football. Some love to call themselves GAA fanatics, yet * and moan at not being able to watch Kerry seniors running around cones whilst they could instead be watching a cracking U14 game (just a subtle dig at Weeshie!haha)!!!!

I agree that there's no need to comment on young fellas abilities,seamo87, I'm just interested in seeing what clubs the players on the squads are from and seeing any names I might recognise.

I met a man today at the Kerry game who is involved with the U14 Kerry South team and they are nearly finished with the panel but not yet, so i presume all the others are in the same boat and I'm sure the Website will have the panels when they are finalized?

Ah yeah that's fair enough. But you know yourself that on this forum it won't stop at that. County board should publish a list on the website, but they never do so I'd suspect they won't do so this year either.

I think a good idea would be to publish the teams on the kerry gaa facebook page and add a picture of the squad too. It would be great to see a bit of recognition for the young lads.

I hope they post it . I would like to know who is on the Panels . I don't think we need to comment on players but it would be nice to know the players . I only know a certain amount of players in the County it would be nice to know more about the young players .

I have only read a few posts but while I agree we need to develop our underage players, I feel players that are not making these squads never get a chance in the future. A player with great potential at 14 or 15 more than often never makes it, some players develop at 16, 17, 18 or even later Kieran Donaghy comes to mind. I just think that our county selectors need to have an open mind when it comes to young players, presently our minor selectors seem to focus on players that have been on development squads up along. Why not talk to a rep from all the clubs, find out who the best players are and then have a number of games using all these players and pick the best from that pool.
