What's said here is said in the pubs and clubs and churches of Kerry.....and from my own experience, it's more vicious in person.

I'd have no problem putting the name up.
However, I think Ger Loughnane would know plenty about saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.
Yes people do go overboard on the cynical attacks on this forum (and we're lucky that the thing is back up and running again despite the tomfoolery).

Some of the rubbish we've had to put up with makes John Allen's point for him!

This forum is by no means the worst and there is a lot more stuff re the personal lives of players on other forums. The point is though that it is very easy to be snide and make all sort of comments when you are anonymous. When you have the protection of anonymity, some individuals become very brave. This is a public forum and their individuals concerned or their families can read this stuff.

It is difficult to get a balance. I look at it from a moderator’s point of view, a few which some posters have given out to me for too I might add. (Mod on Rebelgaa) You don’t want it to be totally censored because it is hardly a debate then is it? But it’s as the word suggests, moderation... Anyway some of the stuff John Allen said made sense, but I think on here and on rebelgaa the admin and moderators are generally very fair to both players and managers alike. Sometimes after games people do get heated, but I think 99% of the people aren’t like that. You could not say the same of other website. I’m not going to name them, but I’m sure ye can think of a few which seem to be full of just gossip and personal attack and basically rubbish. With regards to these evil people lurking and attacking the media and individuals reporters or presenters etc, this is the pot calling the kettle black. We all know of times when people who are getting paid for what they do, being downright nasty to players and managers alike and getting away with it. I know in recent times a few things have become issues with RTE and when the general public go to the trouble of actually writing a letter to explain why they are hurt by the comments or highlighting the comments are hurtful to the players themselves, they don’t even get a reply not to mind the player or manager getting an apology. I’m not suggesting we all go soft, but a bit of fair play and respect wouldn’t go astray either. People have mentioned the things which have appeared in newspapers as well but we could be here all night....

we should all ask ourselves one question before posting........... "If my name was at the bottom of it would i post it".

Mickmack I wouldn't have much issue with having my name there but there are other reasons why people might not want to. Say if Noel O' Leary decided to post on here (he doesn't as far as I am aware!) how could he have a debate with most of the Kerry supporters, although he may in fact know a lot about Kerry. If a young lady decided to discuss football, do you think an old lad with a few All ireland medals would take her seriously? There are 101 reasons why someone wouldn't want to put there name there, and there are 101 reasons why they should.

I was just using him as an example. Same way if Jack came on here last year to defend dropping Brosnan for the final, he would have got attacked from all sides.
