Now that the hurling final is done and dusted the nationwide gaa fraternity will turn their attention towards the looming battle in croke park on the 16th of september. Usually the competing counties are rivals but this final represents more than rivalry, this time its personal.
I for one i think will find it very strange to be going to an all-ireland final and all the rituals and superstions that go with it and then see that we're playing cork. While i've got used to the sight of kerry playing cork in the championship in croker I think it will be alittle un-nerving to see the two square up on final day to each other.
There is a special buzz about the place on all-ireland final day and i just wonder will the fact that we're playing cork diminish it or maybe add to it. I believe the newspapers are cursing the fact dublin didnt qualify not only in money terms but everything that can be said about kerry and cork has already been said b4 this years munster final.
Will the media be as interested in covering the 'local rivalry' on the national stage??

For one thing the hype up here in Dublin will be nowhere near the hype at home. The media buzz will be dutiful and little else. We'll get the usual camp reports and the "give away nothing lads" type interviews. It's a pity that if there's one county better at keeping it low key than Kerry it's probably Cork! They've barely raised an eyebrow throughout the Summer and that's exactly how Billy likes it. Can people keep us folks in the smoke up to date on the buzz at home? Are the flags out? I'd say Rathmore, Scartaglen and Ballydesmond etc will be some craic in the next week and a half.

The buzz down here is alive and well. The buzz in the 30 weaker counties won't be great I'd say.
