That team would need to be doing pretty well to win, but it's an opportunity for Kealy and others.

a very strong Cork team in my opinion. Kerrigan does well in the corner for Cork. Also Carey, Shields and cadogan should sort out their backlines for them. Will be interesting to see who wins midfield. It's Scanlon and Quirke versus O'Connor and Murphy. I hope our duo win that but it would depend on the kickouts a lot. Quirke and Scanlon didn't win an awful lot of ball last Sunday but Kealy will bring a different type of ball into the midfield. We'll be an intersting game.
Think O'Shea is the better goalkeeper but Halloran has better kickouts. Managent must be more worried in preventing Kerry from getting any goals than about the kickouts. Kerry didn't do well in midfield last time out so kickouts would be less important. The diamond depended very much on Quirke's excellent kickouts but without Miskella, Canty and O'Leary the kickouts might not be that important. Kickouts are important but so is keeping the goal empty. Donaghy and Walsh are a real threat and both can get goals easily. Donaghy was all alone last Sunday and surrounded by 3 to 4 Dublin players at all times. Still managed to get plenty of goal and had a few goal opportunities that sdaly didn't go in. Galvin and Declan are also dangerous and might get a goal. Goals win games sicne they're not just 3 points but a boost for the scoring party and a moral crusher for the other side. Once you get a goal often you get a few points out of it as well whereas a defence that just conceded a goal has to rethink what they're doing. The goalkeeper is also important in organising the backlines and if the backlines stand he should be able to stop most goals going into the net. Once a goalie finds himself alone facing two forwards a goal is almost sure to come. If Cork can make the kickouts work AND keep a clean net than they'll win this game for sure. Both field weakened teams this Saturday but Kerry have almost the same team as last week and the Kerry lads should have picked up some experience last week. Many made their debuts last week. Cork had a very tough battle last week in Monaghan (never easy to get a win in Scotstown). Kerry didn't play too badly at home during the second half (Dublin were all over them in the first). If Kerry can play like they did in the second half all game this might be a very close game. I expect Cork to win this by 2 points but see a tight contest. I hope to see Jack try some of the younger lads as well though.
Will be interesting to see how Kealy does this weekend with his kickouts and forwards running at him.

I am not overly confident about Kerry winning on Sat, having said that I thought we would win against Dublin so tells you what I know.
Still in all, the young lads have to get the experience and we have Galvin inspiring all . It will be interesting to see what tactics are played at this game-Dublins swarming and men behind the ball was a new one but Cork are well capable of that (Cork v Tyrone match last year).
Doesn't BJ Walsh play no 11 with kerins, maybe a good switch, moving Declan up and BJ back to 11.
Any word on any of the lads injuries and when they would possible be back; thinking especially of David Moran, Maher??

Very strong Cork team. If they're any way fit they should beat us handy. It could be a cold cold night in Cork boys....
Flemish, where did you accumulate such in depth knowledge of Cork reserve goalkeepers? Have you been sneaking south to watch club football in Cork?

Nope, but I know a lot of people involvd in Cork GAA I must admit Same like I follow Kerry club football via DVD, youtube, etc etc and via what I'm told I manage to follow Cork via friends in Cork. Cork are playing their chances down and I too think this is not a bad Kerry selection and it won't be a walkover for Cork. They say we always play our chances down too but both selections are weakened but both are also still top class teams. Should be a good game and I can hardly wait.

Its difficult to see Kerry coming out of there with a win tomorrow. We've been fairly easily beaten in the other league games down there since the night games commenced and havnt won down there in the championship since 05 either.
I think this could be a very spiteful game, I cant see both teams finishing with 15 thats for sure. Shields v Donaghy and Cadogan v BJW should be good match ups and Mahoney owes Pearse O Neill since last June.
If Cork kick on and decide to go for the jugular in an attempt to gain some form of revenge for last September (and the September before that, and before that and the August before that and the August before that) it could be a long night indeed.
I think we'll make enough of a fight of it to avoid a hammering, but I still fancy Cork to win by somewhere between 5 and 7 points.

Kerry will be stung after the last game so I expect them to get stuck in early unlike against Dublin.
Jack will be back prowling the sideline.
Thats two positives anyway.
Kerry finished very well against Dublin. Theres a third.
Better leave it at that before I start predicting a win for Kerry.

Expect no mercy as Cork look to put down a serious marker. Going into this game - I have a lot of concern for our midfield going on what I saw last week. Frankly, last Sunday you’d have seen more mobility from the statues in Ballinspittle. Consequently, I’d rather see Donaghy exchange with Quirke and come out around midfield for this one. I also hope we have more than the Hail Mary tactic in attack of just lob it in and see what happens. Hopefully, we'll spray some fast diagonal ball towards the corners like we used to do in the days of Russell and Cooper and hopefully our corner men won't shrink and hide but make runs and demand ball. I sense this game is coming too early for Kerry and Cork appear to have too much; therefore if Kerry are within 5 points of Cork at the end of this game I won’t disappointed. I’m more concerned about the performance than the result and hopefully some of the players trying to stake a claim like Paul O’Connor and BJ Walsh will grasp the nettle.

Accoding to Echo tonite that is a dummy Cork team. Changes are expected . Cadogan is going to be at full back on Donaghy. I know in hurling he thrives on marking big men.

Lads almighty On the game itself - Jack will only look for a performance, if a win comes with that so be it - other than that i expect a slugfest. Mahoney first to the line. That and all said - I think Quirke/Reidy and O'Connor are 3 men with something to prove from the last day and with that who knows - could swing things.

KerryLad, I asked the same question a few weeks back as I knew I would be in Dublin this weekend and couldnt make the match. Flemishgael suggested O'Sheas on the quays (opposite the Brazen head) it's run by Kerryfolk and Gill's corner would be good too and indeed most of the pubs in that area. Check out the NFL thread for more suggestions

NTL customers in Dublin can get this match on setanta Ireland. The Dubs game is on the subscription channel but available deferred on Setanta Ireland later. I unfortunately am with Sky and cant get Setanta.

I believe the Donaghy / Spillane incident was worse and only got yellows. (confirmed by Oweny and Flemish independently)

Kerry are much improved in midfield.
Star is playing a blinder but again he's not getting the support he should - i'd say it'll be rectified in the 2nd half. I think if we stay wit Cork for the opening phases of the 2nd we might pull it off.
The Galvin red was a joke - though him getting the line was an inevitability all the same.
