No Sean McCarthy, used to play basketball. Then he went to a rugby school in Dublin. He would have been on the Castleisland U18 team that won an all ireland cup medal this year only he wasn't playing cause he was at the rugby school.

was at the mid-kerry under21 final today.. Glenbeigh beat laune rangers 1-12 to 1-07 Dough McGuicuddy i've no idea how he isn't playing with the minors best back there.. Gavin Grady is a class act he Scored 1-09.. petter crownley marked him in the second half and grady destroyed him he scored 1-3 from play off him.. i can defo see him playing kerry under 21 next year for sure.. was there not a rule brought in a few years ago saying that minors were not allowed compete at U-21 level??? has this reverted?

If Sean McCarthy is fit for the Final, i believe he'll be a perfect midfield partner for Damien Sommers .. it's been a couple of years now since the minors have had two 6ft plus midfielders ! that'll be a good advantage this year, they might just go all the way

It's highly unlikely that he'll be ready for the Cork game. Arm still in a sling and not able to partake in squad training at the moment. That injury takes time and obviously can't be put in a cast.

rockwell isn't in dublin ye clowns but anyway sean mcCarthy would be a great asset to the minors..has a great pair of hands, can kick from any angle, and is a massive man!! speed wouldn't be his greatest asset though

You'll find that the starting 15 won't be much different from the last game - injuries apart. A lot of lads have been looked at but the form of the established players is holding up and in most cases, enhanced. The fact that the game is in Killarney must be a help too. It never ceases to amaze me how intense their sessions are - compared to the seniors etc.

Who will start in place of Shaun Keane. Will it be Barry O Dwyer with Gavin O Grady back to the edge of the square?
What do u mean by the comment about the training Mandad? Are u saying that the minors sessions are more intense than the seniors?

Yes, at this stage that would be the most likely, but Jeff O'Donoghue is going well also. Sean McCarthy is doing some of the lighter work but I doubt if he will get a starting place this time. Sean Keane - I think it would be in his best interest to miss this one and he'll make a big contribution later on in the campaign. With regard to the training, I suppose it's not a fair comparison to make, but it appears to me that the minor sessions are very intensive and you can see the skills levels are high. They are very accurate in everything they do. You would have to admire the work being done by all concerned. I did not know Pat O'Driscoll before this year but he impresses me a lot.

Going to be a tough few days for lads, many of who have just done the leaving cert. Munster Final on the Sunday followed by County Championship on the Tuesday. Hope all will get through in one piece because whatever way the game goes on July 4th, both teams still go into the 1/4 final.

Shaun Keane is back in training and feeling pretty good! He hopes himself to be available!

Don't think either Shaun Keane or Sean McCarthy will be fit for the final - both would be a huge asset. Apparently Eanna was outstanding against South Kerry and John Moynihan must have played himself into contention. I know the senior championship doesn't always properly reflect a minor's ability at their own level, but you would have to sit up and take notice of the two goals. James Walsh did really well on Darran O'Sullivan and Chris and Gary O'Leary both looked good for Kilcummin. Damien Somers came on late enough for Feale Rangers and scored a good point, Conor Cox already had two by that stage

Shaun Keane is back in training and feeling pretty good! He hopes himself to be available! I feel there is no point in risking Shaun for the muster final. Win or lose they are guaranteed an All Ireland Quarter Final place. Wouldn't it be nice if he played and snapped it again and be out for the year. Them bones mightn't be knitted right yet.

thats not going to be the reason he doesn't start..if he's fit he's fit and thats it...and theres always going to be the chance he's going to break it again but thats not the reason he won't be playing... i beleive if he's not back that sean McCarthy from currow should make it in full forward or else mid field! he'll be back training in 3 weeks

Grady had a fine game in Brosna, mighty pair of hands on the young fella! won everything that came his way! I think he got 1-7 or 8, he was marking the kerry minor full back from last year.. James walsh did very well also kicked a great score!..Best of luck to the minors next sunday, id say we should take cork alright.

Neither Sean Keane or McCarthy took an active part in the latest practice matches so it would appear that they will not be involved in the Cork game. Therefore, most likely they will not be lister as subs either for this game. I have no doubt that the team will perform well and hopefully provide the first leg of a Kerry Munster Championship double.
Does anybody have any insight into the strengths/ability of the Cork team?

Cork are a very physical side they are very strong down the middle, i believe one of their mid- fielders is 6 foot 2 the other is 6 foot 7!! However the kerry team would have much more skill and football ability, We would also be the faster of the two teams...

The 6'6" lad played centre back the last day. Cork were poor enough in their last two outings but were missing 5 key players, I gather they are all back in training, no idea about match fitness. John O'Rourke, Tomas Clancy, and Jamie Burns have all partnered Cahalane at midfield and are all good players. Daniel Fitzgerald, Dan McEoin, Brian Hurley are all dangerous inside. Kevin Hallissey (right wing) was outstanding against Tipp but I'm not certain that he can repeat that performance. I don't like the look of this one at all. Cork are coming in well under the radar but they look like sharks to me. I agree with Zusse about pace but they are physically very strong and that counts at minor

Good report 'Himself'. Kerry probably have a more settled team it would seem. It's a good sign of the team and management that they are happy with the players that they decided on at an early stage in the competition. I expect the team to be very close to this:
McCarthy. Kilkenny - Culhane - McNamara. Walshe - Bastible - Hickson. Summers - Durrant. Reen - Hickey - O'Leary. O'Dwyer - O'Grady - O'Connor.
Cork are very low key in their approach to this one. As usual they will be a big physical challenge and well drilled. I expect a close game and any margin in Kerrys favour will be o.k. The young lads have put in a huge effort and it would be nice if our supporters got to the game on time and gave them their support. They are the future of Kerry football. Is e mo thuairim.
