Thanks Sons. As I expected, the 'never pass an opportunity to grab more money' approach was taken!

Any confirmation on when and where the semi-final will be played? Croke Park on June 26th makes most sense but when did that ever impact decisions! Confirmed for Tullamore at 14:45 on Saturday 25th. Madness bringing this game to Tullamore. When I saw Tullamore I assumed both minor semi finals were being played there but I see the Galway Derry semi is in Parnell Park. Ennis would be a much more sensible venue for both Mayo and Kerry.

This is ridiculous scheduling - if held in Limerick/Portlaoise on Sat evening, supporters headed by to Dublin could take it in & support these young players - the time too is madness - GAA have ensured small attendance with this fixture.

There is a lot to be said for over nighting in Tullamore on Saturday and getting a train from Tullamore on Sunday and a train back to Tullamore afterwards. About an hours journey. Tip away home then on sunday evening having avoided all traffic mayhem.

Was there harsh criticism? I didnt hear any. I was delighted anyway that Tyrone got a taste of their own defensive approach.

There was people giving out about the style of the game in every bar and shop in the county that Saturday evening I can guarantee you that. The same people who would have been giving out about the 20s after they lost the Tyrone probably. A certain local sports writer also had a pop at Costello on twitter.

Ya, saw that on Twitter in fairness some just use Twitter to stir or just put themselves in the limelight as they crave attention. It isn't called the playground of fools for no reason. Egotistical self idolising attention seeker.... at least you said "local writer' as opposed to 'respected sports writer' Personally such activities is whyy i don't rate or agree with most of their media submissions

I was told this tonight and i dont know if its true or not so maybe someone could confirm....
"A rule was introduced this year for minor grade to prevent matches being played before senior games because playing before big crowds would be too traumatic for 16 year olds".
That was the gist anyway.

That was the gist anyway. It's an unwritten law Mick for both the footballers and hurlers. I very much doubt that it's on paper and added to the laws of the GAA. If it happens to be in the bi-laws I would like to see it.

Is it next year that we will be seeing the new age categories (combining minor and U20 at u19) or was I dreaming. Think the u17 competition drops in status at that point. Big mistake reducing the minor age to u17 to begin with.
Still think there is a need for an u23 or junior grade to bridge the gap between underage levels and senior for the majority of players and also to help clubs keep lads active at those years when they leave home/school.

Yeah, probably more a policy than a rule. I think there is merit in it especially when some lads are only inter cert age. Would be surprised if it was the real reason for not staging triple headers. Might be more to do with the timetable for the day being too long now that 'winner on the day' means extra time and penalty shootouts need to be allowed for so as not to upset TV schedules.

Any thoughts on the draw for the County Minor Championship last night? Where are Kenmare district gone to now that Kenmare Shamrocks are on their own? Are they gone with East or SOuth Kerry?

I am surprised that Ruari Burke drops to the subs, I suppose somebody had to go to accommodate the returning Darragh O’Connor.
It is a shame that this minor match is not being played in Croke Park as well. There was a time when I would think nothing of driving to Tullamore on Saturday , returning and then heading for Dublin on Sunday. However, when old age comes calling you have to bend the knee.

Did Jake Foley get injured he seems to be gone off the panel altogether after starting the first couple of games?

For sure Group 1 is the 'group of death'. Hearing though that EK are not as strong as previous few years. St Brendans played Austin Stacks last night in a challenge in Connolly Park with both teams missing a good few players. Brendans won comfortably, but wouldn't take much from the game. A good run out for the divisional side in terms of teamwork

Very impressive showing by Galway in that first half. Strong and smart all over the pitch. Keeper's kickouts a problem though. Harsh-looking black card right at the end - could be costly.

Galway look good & were well beaten by Mayo in Connacht - thought black card was correct - cynical foul, took out the Derry player.

Entertaining football. Yeah, very enjoyable game. Fair play to the Derry lad having the balls to take on the final shot. Couldn't believe Galway persisted with the long kickout when they were getting destroyed on them. Almost cost them the game.

Can one of you settle a row for me. Extended panel players, on the event of a team winning the all Ireland, do extended players get medals, my impression is no...
