I expect a big improvement the next day. These are all very good players and will be hurting. I also think Odhran Ferris will add to ball winning ability and bring energy. Fully agree - Kerry were on a hiding to nothing heading to PUR - a 14 point win against the same opponents & it was hard to see the turnaround that took place - irrespective of management, these guys are 15/16 year olds and the saying “ you can’t put an old head on young shoulders” was never more apt. Some level of complacency was bound to have played a part - everything seemed to go Cork’s way too & with a home crowd cheering them on they played like superstars. The red card made life easier for Cork yet they only scored 2-2 in the 2nd half. Yes, I think once Cork played a sweeper we had no plan B - I expect that we will rectify this in advance of Tyrone - a few players returning could make a huge difference.

Cork were great in fairness. They had their plan and it worked. They defense was crowded and tenacious and there seemed to be acres for them to run into when they turned the ball over. They kicked some great long range points too and took their goals well. I suppose Tyrone will set up like Cork did and the same thing will happen again. Strange to see Paddy Lane taken off. He didnt look injured. I don’t know if we were watching the same game Mick!! Paddy scored a point in the first minutes and was well beaten all night - ditto with our captain - Kerry seem to have gone with what in the game are classified as “finishers’ in the FF line rather than ball winners - I saw fierce similarities in both the U20’s and the minor team last night - no ball winner inside the 40 - we have 2 scoring forwards - none them able to win a dirty ball - and when the game tightens as it did last night and will do as the competition goes on . The team fails .. Brown from Stacks is a huge loss and hopefully he will be back for the next game .. I don’t think James Costello will have any fear of Tyrone - he beat them in 2019 .. so know what has to be done .. We need to get a ball winner into the FF line .. and get a few forwards of size into the team - I know there is a huge clamour around Paddy Lane and he is underage again next year but just not up to it against the physically stronger guys a year older and we will need power against Tyrone .. I counted at least 7 or 8 far bigger problems than Paddy Lane. The middle 8 decides who wins the game, the rest decide by how much. PL did not have his finest hour but the Kerry wing forwards, midfield and half back line were utterly rinsed throughout. Cork defended in great numbers, double and treble teaming PL at times. The support play and attempts to beat the blanket by Kerry were utterly abject.

I deleted a post there that could cause upset to young minor players.

Great to see so many of the injured lads return. Darragh O’Connor of Kenmare, red card, seems to be the only absentee.
Surely we will see a rebound after the Cork disaster and the hope is we will get a repeat of the second half performance in Tralee. One worry is that the hurlers playing at home will capture the bulk of the Kerry support. I certainly would not begrudge the hurlers that support but let us hope the seventeen year olds will also get some vocal encouragement. They will need it against a fancied Tyrone team but one never knows with this age group.

The minor team selection looks stronger on paper, I've seen Evan Boyle first hand up through the ranks he is the type of player where time stands still when on the ball, so so comfortable and composed. At only 16 he has another twelve months at this level.
Tomorrow is a serious test, there isn't much between Derry and Tyrone at this level, only a kick of a ball , you wouldn't live off the difference.
Serious test, we'll do well to still be in it this time tomorrow.

I'm optimistic about our chances. This is a good team and I'm expecting a big performance.

A stronger team than played Cork with the return of Evan Boyle, Colm Browne, Ruairi Burke & Odhran Ferris - expect Ferris to play on the “40” with Dillon inside - the midfield plus Clifford & Ferris should give us a strong presence around the middle - Browne’s return too should be beneficial - expect a response to the Cork reverse - hope it will be enough.

One point up at the break, 0-06 to 1-02 - looks like we have the wind but Tyrone playing 13 behind the ball & Kerry finding it hard to make inroads. We have the better of them around the middle 8, Boyle & Browne influential- Tyrone for me seem to find frees much easier to get than our guys!! Still all to play for.

Not a bad performance in 1st half. Could have had a penalty at start. Niall Collins covering serious ground.

Christ that was hard fought, fair play. Delighted for those lads - great heart despite the refereeing- how was Collins black carded amongst other questionable decisions?!!

Great to get over the line despite a fairly poor performance. Colm Browne man of the match I thought while Cormac Dillon was excellent in the first half. Evan Boyle had a lot of good moments too. Hopefully they can drive on now and put in a performance approaching their best in the semi final. I thought we had a lot of very questionable tactics today but thankfully we got over the line anyway.

Carded for gloating over the Tyrone player after we won the line ball (free?). No need for it. But yeah, the ref didn't seem to give us much. Thought we looked much the better side, though I only got home for the 2nd half.

Nice to win ugly against Tyrone.
Some really strong displays by some Kerry players especially our CHB and great defending too in general.
Some of the finishing was poor but there wasnt much time and space available for lining up shots.
The decision not to give Kerry a penalty looked bizarre.
The ref was close to the red card incident so he must have seen something but it didnt look that serious.
Low scoring games can be very engrossing affairs.
Congrats to all.

Thanks....i dont know my carta dearg from my carta dubh! The commentator said it was a red but I don't think so. It was definitely a black card - don’t recall Collins returning though. Minors so unpredictable though - Cork & Tyrone both gone now after winning their provincials.

Goalie did very well. Great saves and got away 99% of kickouts. Colm Browne was physically very strong and good direct runner. Evan Boyle impressed. Niall Collins covered serious ground however the goading was silly. Huge improvement around the middle since the Munster Final. Much better attitude and work rate. I'm not a fan of a safety first game plan however I suppose it's horses for courses.

It was all a bit confusing, especially after the commentator repeatedly saying he had got a red.
