Lads can we not leave covid off a sports forum. It's bad enough on every other platform. Apologies, you're 100% correct.

Anybody with an idea when a team/squad might be announced for Wednesdays game. Peter Keane liked to leave it as late as possible but I remember Jack used to name his pretty early in the week

All,
It has been some time since we had to remind everybody that Covid discussion outside of its impact on games is forbidden.
It is just too divisive and is not needed on our GAA forum.
I did not delete the posts on the previous page as they are civil, unlike previous efforts earlier in the pandemic.
Apologies to the new arrivals for not making this clear when your new citizenship was confirmed - NO COVID DISCUSSION!
I can't monitor all the posts here in a reasonable time to catch things early...I'm a volunteer who has a life (somewhat) and do well to get on here a few times a day...weekends are awkward too...so I appreciate royalkerryfan for pointing out to others that Covid discussion is not for a Kerry GAA forum.
Thanks - and Happy New Year to all.
FUN FACT: Kerry have won the All-Ireland when the last two digits of the year are the same on only 2 occasions...1955 and 2000. Dublin with 4 (1899, 1922, 1977 and 2011) lead the way. Meath have 2 as well as Kerry (1988 and 1999). No other county has more than 1 (Tipp 1900, Cork 1911, Cavan 1933, Roscommon 1944, and Galway 1966).

I slightly disagree - it is relevant and we are only discussing it in the context of things GAA. I have an issue with people telling others what and what not to discuss. Like everyone else there are issues I have no interest in, some I feel are crazy, out of bounds, etc - but I just ignore them. Having said that, I myself think we have engaged on Covid to the extent that the chat is probably at a natural conclusion, and we are all the better for what was sensible discussion. I can identify with Sully as I know of a few unfortunate cases including close calls across the community.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of a team is put out Wednesday. Jack doesn’t have a huge amount of new, young players inside there so I think we will see a number of experienced players line out. I’m expecting something very close to this: 1. Shane Murphy 2. Tadhg Morley 3. Jason Foley 4. Gavin Crowley 5. Mike Breen 6. Dan O’Donoghue 7. Graham O’Sullivan 8. Paul O’Shea 9. Adrian Spillane 10. Stephen O’Brien 11. Jack Savage 12. Michael Burns 13. Tony Brosnan/Killian Spillane 14. David Shaw 15. Dara Roche I think a few of the lads there may be unavailable due to injury and/or holidays

That was one aspect of the previous reign that bugged the life out of me. My recollection was Jack was very outright, there were no "dummy" teams, it was laid bare, I hope his stance or opinion hasn't changed. Moderator- point taken, apologies.

I think a few of the lads there may be unavailable due to injury and/or holidays What players are injured? There's likely to be some players missing with either COVID or isolating from what I've heard. I would be very surprised if any team announcement wasn't the last possible minute. Heard of one definite player with COVID and another who is likely a close contact. That's based only on talking to a small number of people the last few days so I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't a fair few missing given the overall case numbers. Some close contacts might be out of isolation depending on whether or not they got a booster/when they had to go into isolation. However there might be some more than pick it up the next few days.

Reminds me of the story of a former Kerry great who was enthusiastically coaching his club side many years after retiring from playing. The story goes a but like this He was on the sideline and one of his u-14 players was on a solo run along the sideline - the coach was seen running along the sideline keeping pace with the young lad shouting and urging him to "kick it in long", "kick it in long", "kick it in long" he roared roared over and over. The player stopped and threw the ball at his coach and told him "you f#*king kick it in long". The major flaw in that story is that under 14 in Kerry has always been one hop, one solo. On the game if the weather is fine I think I'll head into the terrace and report back. You are showing your age in detecting one hop, one solo as the flaw in my yarn - it was not always thus (not sure when that change came into being)

I watched a good documentary about Frank Bruno and Mike Tyson on 1 of the sky channels last night, I was only a kid at the time but I remember there was a massive buzz around home for some reason, back then we'd be allowed to stay up late for 2 reasons 1 if there was a cow ready to pop or 2 if there was a fight on the telly.

Ya, I remember being in primary school when Iron Mike and Bruno paired off.
I watched the second instalment of the Tommy Martin interview with Joe Brolly last night, truth be told it half blew me away, very captivating and insightful.
I read an interview about Joe not long after he was involved in the kidney transplant that totally flipped my opinion of him as opposed to the facade behind the Sunday Game camera.

The Joe Brolly interview was excellent however I lost any time I had for him during the 2019 final with his comments regarding David Clifford and the Ref being influenced by Kerry pundits. He also took cheap shots at most counties bar Dublin for some reason.

Its hard to know whether that histrionic behaviour is an act for attention seeking purposes.

Brolly may speak sense at times but his personalised attacks on a number of players over the years says a lot more about him.

My knowledge of Limerick footbal isnt what it should be. Anybody her know anything about that line up? Well only 5 of the team that started against Cork last year in the championship starts so it isn’t close to a full strength side.

Team I'd like to see for Wednesday, excluding Na Gaeil and Strand Road is: 1) Shane Murphy 2) Cormac Coffey (not sure if he's in or not) 3) Tadgh Morely 4) Graham O'Sullivan 5) Gavin Crowley 6) Mike Breen 7) Dan O'Donoghue 8) Adrian Spillane 9) Liam Kearney (if he's fit) 10) Micheal Burns 11) Jack Savage 12) Paul O'Shea 13) Tony Brosnan 14) Killian Spillane 15) Dara Roche
Should be a strong enough team to nearly win out the competition and there'll be a good few fellas in there who will have a genuine chance at pushing for Championship XV in the summer.

I may be mistaken but I read Killian Spillane is travelling at the minute.

Does anyone know if when you buy a stream on clubber. Can it be viewed by only 1 person or could 2 people using the same account login watch the match in different locations?

Viewing at different locations is not usually allowed. So one match stream purchase = 1 device. Okay thanks.

As a barrister Joe's mind is trained to spot things that others don't see and so he is moulded in such occupational hazard that has him give a one sided slanted view on things, occasionally hitting the bulls eye and riding that horse all day long. He will rarely give an overall view and the live game practice of panelists being told to take sides makes for a natural habitat and so he stirs the pot. I often wonder if he infuriates Ulsterians more as they mightn't be as tolerant as us and/or they have to listen to him more - Canavan openly detests him. One thing I will say for him is that like in court, when it is over it is over and he doesn't take offense. For all his faults he calls it as he sees it and his heart is in the right place. I honestly don't know why he is even on a panel as he doesn't give a broad view - I try to compliment my own read of a game with the expert view of someone who laced his boots properly and for the greater part panelists are goodish. McStay is a fav of mine, that is when it is not Chiarraí agus Maigh Eo, and he is particularly effective on post analysis on Sunday nights. In any event I think there will be a clean sweep one day soon as some of the new guns are more on the ball, probably that they have been at the coalface of later evolutions of the game. Star, Gooch, Ciarán Whelan and Canavan are good, Oisin McConville is also good while David Brady isn't. Now maybe it is that I know even less about hurling but are they not blessed with exceptional pundits across the board? Marty is King of commentators and yes, him and Mullane should get double pay for the hilarious show they put on - you wouldn't want to be driving anyway. I also think our Radio Kerry pair are good, Ambrouse's other half is a lot smarter these days, maybe he used to be too enthusiastic, and which doesn't make him a bad person as Listowel's Billy The Kid might put it. Not revisiting Covid but someone said lately that we need to be patient, somethings just have to wait so that we keep everyone onboard. Can't but notice the enthusiasm about the McGrath Cup - people can't wait to see football being played again and hopefully it won't be long 'till normality resumes a chairde Chiarraí.

Great to see some inter county football starting again. With all the tough times the country has had it will be a pleasure to talk about and analyze the games,
Hopefully Limerick will give us a good match to test us. I don’t think an easy win will do Jack any good at all,
