8 finals (including replays) in 6 years with - A Referee know colloquially as Dublin Joe reffing one (3 if you include 2011 and 2013) - David Coldrick reffed 2 finals (lives in Dublin) - David Gough reffed 1 final (lives in Dublin and holds a high position in Dublin's Cumann na mBunscol) - A Referee from Leinster (Maurice Deegan, Laois) - Conor Lane (Cork) with 3 finals The problem is with the Corkman 🤔 Are some Dublin fans really going down the route of claiming there is a refereeing conspiracy against them when at least 3 finals were managed by officials who travelled less than some Dublin players to the final? Jesus wept. Never mentioned conspiracy. I think I even said I don't like criticising refs! But the last 10 years have been riddled with said conspiracy theories coming out of the Kerry camp. Issues with McQuillan, Coldrick and Gough. The Kerry media drive to rattle Gough was outrageous, and worse it worked. So to be fair Kerry are the ones driving conspiracy theories. Jim Gavin did an interview straight after the 2013 final and raised the subject of poor refereeing against Dublin during the season. Laughably, he was basically told by all and sundry that he was a joyless **** and that he should just enjoy the victory. The moral of the story is that you can never win. Anyway, time to focus on football

Tyrone and Donegal played yesterday. Due to work I didn't see it so would like some info on how it all went. I switched over after the minor final and saw the 2nd half. Murphy had been sent off and missed the penalty before that so really that was probably the turning point. Donegal got a really good goal by running straight down the middle of Tyrone after winning their own kickout. 15 v 14 in that heat told and Tyrone were able to score easier than Donegal. McCurry is on fire and a few subs including McCann made a big impact. I would expect a very close game between Monaghan and Tyrone and if we get to the semi final it wont be one for the feint hearted. I would prefer Tyrone to win simply because Donie will know our strengths and weaknesses so well.

Dessie didnt even consider the two seminal moments in yesterdays game worth highlighting. Everyone is inured to it now.

No because he also should have sent off Tom O'Sullivan who was already on yellow and he bottled that.

Tyrone never lack belief in themselves and Doher will be no stranger to us either - any team in the last 4 is there for a reason and 'twould be a fool that would write any one off, even from now on and then we have the small ball with plenty of ground hurling to play out. Probably the widest margin is between say Dubs and Connaught and now who would put the rent money on that?, just looking at what's left is so exciting, even in these testing times the auld GAA entertains.

Lads, Dub here, You are correct about Dublins performances, bar the 1st half against Meath there has been no intensity to the game or no plan to be honest. The loss of McDaid, Small and Murchan to injury along with Cooper up till Sunday is immense, coupled with Mick MacAuley, COS and Cluxton making himself unavailable make this team very weak IMHO. If I was a betting man I'd be putting a few quid on yerselfs. Can't see us troubling you this year. Hopefully we'll be back to full tilt next year.

A Dublin team of Comerford, byrne, fitzsimons, coopeer, murchan,, small, mcdaid,Fenton, McCarthy, scully, Howard, Kilkenny, Rock, con, Costello is the best team in the country. That still leaves the likes of P Small, the basquels, the McMahons to come in.
Dublin are carrying a few injuries currently but they should all have recovered by the time the semi finals come along.

But at present P.Small, McDaid and Murchan are all injured, there is no guarantee that they will be back in time for semi-finals should they progress to them.

Small is the crucial one as that frees up Howard and Mccarthy.
Hammers are very slow healing and that was evident with Michael Murphy.
Getting back is one thing but being sharp is another.

Agree, McDaid dislocated his shoulder, from what I hear it is not as bad as 1st feared. Still, to me it would be weak coming back so soon. Hammers are a long healing process and P Smalls was a bad one by all accounts, but we will have to wait and see. Without those three starting I fear for us defensively.

Comer alone could lead Tribal warfare v Garda county, as I said Tribes same odds as Monaghan.
Ballythefireside is in the fire here at the moment and it's more than the weather - more 130°, ah Dgal a biteen low, issue I think is Murphy should have (been) restrained, he wasn't match fit and then threw a wobbler when reality hit home with a bit of help from his red hand friends, he def has a few more seasons in him, I saw him lately in the flesh and he's leaner 'n' meaner that ever.
Good judges say Armagh and Derry could well have prevailed.
Ah jazus, just saw a laddo on the beach here with the big 'Kerry Group' blazed across the chest, asked him 'what part of the county' was he from. 'The Cross', and it wasn't Lisselton Cross, well unless they/we now speak Armaghese ..
A trend up here is fellas wearing any GAA strip, me thinks this bucko is tryin to upset his neighbours, if ya knew how much they all love each other you'd begin to understand, at times I have to pinch myself and I know a thing 'r' two about warfare, ah all good stuff - and of course the heat brings out the best in 'em.

Mayo generous with the off-the-ball hits in that half. Officials see nothing of course.
Has Hawkeye just robbed Galway of a point there?

Should set up an interesting second half. On the topic of Hawkeye. Once the ball went through the virtual post, no matter what angle it's always going to be NÍl. If we had some more advanced technology, a bit of Artificial Intelligence mixed with Hawkeye could calculate angle and trajectory and might give it if there was a high percentage of the ball still going over the bar rather than back into play.

By God, Lane is frustrating. By my count he's failed to give Galway about 4 frees in the last 5 minutes.
Do we have any refereeing standards committee? If we don't we need one. At least something to review refereeing performance, ranking the refs from best to poor. Giving the higher stakes games (Derby Games, Provincial finals, AI semis & Final) to best performing refs & ensuring proper neutrality.

In other news, Galway legless, just not fit enough. Joyce is clueless on the line, heard him a few years ago doing a radio commentary and suspected he hadn't much upstairs. A fan with a bib. Conroy out on his feet and Joyce just left him in the middle. Awful management. Mayo v good 2nd half in fairness. Likes of Mullen and Conroy coming into their own and will be big players for Mayo for a long time. On the downside, Aido not able to run around Croke Park, not that he ever could. Lastly, how much longer do we have to endure Marty Morrissey.

Let's take the boredom out of it and make it interesting - if say 20% of favourites in two horse races don't win, list them in order of who is most to least likely to let down favourite backers. I'll dead heat the 5, now that's boring! Look what happened last year. As nobody picked up on my prediction here I said I'd remark it myself, pure genius am I .... should be a special prize for that! Now applying the 20% upset rule to the 7 games left, what will be the 1.4 upsets? Galway are same odds as Monaghan. Pray to God the gamblers are wrong about the Blues! Tyrone buckos telling me it is ours to lose, so they do believe they can do it and I wouldn't write them off, talk of mind games and that is only on the street, bet Doher's auld head is working overtime these days. If 25% of favourites don't oblige, we are potentially talking of Lilly Whites beating the Dubs, or Farnies beating Red Hands, or winners therein beating us, or Dubs beating us, latter assuming we are in final and still favourites. I suppose what I am talking about is where is the most likely upset?

It's normally enjoyable but will be avoided while he is presenting it.

Is the Dublin defence suspect Or was Flynn's goal a touch of magic? Kildare are distinctly average with their shot selection and execution today utterly pitiful. Allowed Dublin stay in 2nd and 3rd gear all day. Will need to go to 4th gear v Mayo and will need 5th in final if its Kerry. 4 or 5 Dublin players took the day off completely such as Howard, Fenton and Con and it was a joke of a game.

RTÉ trying to spin a yarn that Dublin are there for the taking. Dublin showed once they conceded the goal they could switch it on when required. If I was Mayo I'd have some restless nights. It will be a massacre.
Dublin have a whiff of Kerry 09 where they are planning to peak after the provincial final. There will be no Leinster winner outside Dublin this decade. 20 points while playing poorly. The other counties are reaping what they sowed.

I get what you are saying but this is different to kerry 09 we still had all the players that won that played in 06/7 more or less this is more like us in 2010 or 2011. It's not that easy to just turn it on like that. Kildare are no better than clare or cork imo. Dublin can't call on as many proven winners as before and are not as good as the team that beat us 2 years ago. Having said all that they are still the best in the country until someone beats them and I think they will beat mayo for the same reason they have beat them in everygame since 2012 they have better forwards and plenty of them. Over the last three years at least they have looked unbeatable, I would give any of the teams left at least a chance now. Like ourselves the paucity of opposition means we don't really know where they are at , the semi finals will tell us that

Slow start, competetive 1st half, better team pulling away by 3/4 points at HT, Pull away further in 3rd quarter, A spectacular goal to give hope, better team tags on more points and pulls away. We could have won the AI in 2011. Is Kerry 2021 (Mayo or Tyrone) good as if not better than Dublin 2011 would be a good question to ask.
