With the news coming out we will be lucky if we get a championship - apparently many now testing positive had no symptoms - you'd wonder why they got tested in the first place, maybe other health issues, underlying health issues? Ah I'm no medic but doesn't sound great. 'Twould have been a tough winter without the AI series so we have a bit to be thankful for even if we weren't on stage, well apart from the panto we put on vs the Rebels.

Johnno played midfield, full back and even captained us at full forward in a league final if my memory serves me correct. A very much under-rated player Paudie Lynch was also very comfortable and capable in numerous positions. Johnno full forward is a new one for me!

Eastwarrior, you are correct in your comments about Paul O’Shea. I could not believe that he was selected at corner forward for that Cork game in Tralee. Worse still, he was allowed to languish there all through the first half. As you say, he transformed the game when moved out to midfield in the second half. Anybody who saw him play there as a minor would not have been surprised by that turn of events. The point, is why did management pick him at corner forward in the first place? Now of course management see more of these lads than we do but there are times when one is mystified by managerial decisions. Unfortunately Paul missed the semifinal against Galway through injury/covid. O'Shea and Walsh (brosna) super prospects, not impossible one of them will kick on at senior in 2021

I can definitely see him making a big impact on the seniors in the coming years. I myself never bought into the hype that surrounded Paul Walsh, I’ve seen him not perform in too many games I believe he was pulled at half time in the minor championship semi final at 1/2 time he went missing as a minor in the All Ireland final and semi final from play with the exception of 2 outstanding frees in the semi final. He was held again very easily in the minor county championship final in 2018 and was not impressed with him in any of his performances with the U20s the last 2 seasons. I hope my view will be proved wrong. However, I feel he was overhyped at a very young age to be an outstanding player and that may have got to him.

Honestly I don’t think it was that the hype got to him. I remember he had a good Munster Minor Championship and then he was made out to be better than he actually was due to his distinctive hair. So it wasn’t a case that he regressed, he just was never as good as some people believed he was. His name is still often thrown out as someone who is going to walk in to the Senior panel by some people. Not his fault, it’s kind of unfair on him in a way. Hopefully he will play well for the 20s this year. Based on his performances to date there’s no evidence he’ll ever by Kerry Senior standard.

THey tend to blow up players hugely. If you listen to games do and then watch the game on TV it's like too different games. The fella Radio Kerry make out to be doing everything could actually be having a very quiet game. Re Paul Walsh. While i've only seen him a handfull of times but i've yet to see anything to suggest he's good enough to make the step up to senior.

Can I suggest that people refrain from comments on young lads that have another year u-20. Particularly not overly positive ones.

[br Sad stuff to be cutting a young lad like that, the boy is only 19. Maybe he won’t make it. 90% of minors don’t. No need for it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I’d seriously question the opinions of people who want to use this forum to criticise a kid. Judge a guy when he’s 23/24

What difference will it make when he's 23/24? Is it somehow more truen then or something?

/ Sean O’Brien (Beaufort) Dan MacCarthy (Kenmare) and Ruairi Ó Beaglaoich (An Gaeltacht) all received the U-20 grades All-Star award or as they call it the u20 best 20. Very good season for all three lads. Dan unfortunately missed the semi final with cruciate injury. Hope he has a speedy recovery and is again available for this years championship along with the other 2 lads. kerrysportshub.ie/2021/01/21/o-beaglaoich-o-brien-and-mccarthy-in-top-20/

Hearing this morning that Paul Galvin has been added to Kerry’s back room team replacing Donie Buckley. Wow I didn’t expect that. Thinking of it now I think it’d be a good move. Galvin seems to have a very big interest in football in general and he is someone who thinks outside the box which is what you’d want as part of a backroom team. He also is someone who knows the Kerry way and wants to play attacking football. Thinking back when it was mentioned that there’d be an addition to the backroom team Galvin’s name should have come to mind. He had an experience with Wexford and is something a bit different. My only concern is is this fully Peter Keane’s decision or is he feeling pressure just to add someone for the sake of it? It doesn’t seem too like him, it has appeared that it was him alongside Griffin and Foley from the minors and that was that. Hopefully if true it works out.

Not meaning to denigrate Paul Galvin's qualities or achievements, but what we need right now is a proven, established gaelic football coach. Another voice of experience is just just that, another voice of experience.

Sure if Griffin wasn’t there then Buckley would be doing all the coaching and there’d be no problems. Galvin also would be well able to do a few sessions.

Sure if Griffin wasn’t there then Buckley would be doing all the coaching and there’d be no problems. Galvin also would be well able to do a few sessions. This is a little information about the Limerick Hurling Coach. A career coach. The best teachers never stop learning, which is probably why Paul Kinnerk has established himself as one of the most successful GAA coaches in the country. The Monaleen man has a reputation for being an innovator, someone constantly striving to operate beyond his comfort zone in order to better himself and the players he works with. He first rose to national prominence as key personality in Clare’s many hurling successes earlier this decade. He coached the Clare minors that won the 2010 Munster title, helped the same generation of players to three U-21 All-Ireland title in a row from 2012 to 2014, and was also part of Davy Fitzgerald’s management team for the 2013 senior All-Ireland success. These days his expertise is being utilised by his native Limerick in a variety of roles. He’s the county senior hurling team coach, head coach of Limerick’s underage football Academy, and advisor to Limerick’s underage hurling academy. A PE and maths teacher in St. Caimin’s secondary school in Shannon, he is also currently undertaking a PHD in the University of Limerick in the area of pedagogy (the method and practice of teaching) in sport. The extent of that undertaking tells you all you need to know about just how dedicated Kinnerk is to deepening his knowledge of coaching and how best to imparting it to those he works with. He spent two years planning the research for his PHD, is currently 18 months into it, and has roughly another three years to go. Quite a commitment for someone with so many other irons in the fire. His chosen field of expertise is sparsely populated in terms of the number of previous papers and studies that have been published on it, so Kinnerk is something of a pioneer and by the time he has completed his PHD is likely to be someone referenced by other experts in the field for years to come. There’s a lot of hard work ahead of him between now and then, but, as challenging as the task is, it’s one he’s relishing because he’s learning a lot along the way.

Id be surprised In the absence of DB I did 'tip' PG because I felt we needed that bit of creativity and Paul is unique in that while that is what he is about, he meshes in well and which isn't always the case in such circumstances. Éamonmn over-ruled in the heat of battle and will PK do the same? The stakes are high - maybe the blend in near enough, PG doesn't have experience of being at the controls and there is a biteen of history v Dubs. A big positive is that he would command respect though it would be his first shot at inspiring and in contrast to being at the coalface himself. All things considered and when you look at the options it mightn't be the worst decision and something has to be done. In a different vein I got terrible news re two GAA pals who are hospitalised - both would be of strong enough constitution and neither were in high risk zones as such. Lord save us, take care.

What is the current situation wrt All Ireland medals - I remember in the past there used to be consternation over who got a medal and who did not. Reading about MDM retirement and he is listed as being the holder of 8 All Ireland medals joining the most illustrious group of people with that number of medals. However the artilce went on to say he had missed the entire 2020 league (injury) and did not appear in any Championship game - not clear if he even made match day panels.

He was on the panel for the final alright. It's like how it' said Bernard Brogan has won 7 when he played little to no part in the last 2 wins. There would be fellas from the Kerry 2000s team who could have 2/3 All-Ireland medals without playing a game.
