Forwards' mobility to come out for ball is not to be confused with core defense duties, no more than we can depend on attacking defenders to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Positional play is all but gone but that only blinds us from what individual players are made of. And then you have the odd freak, like discovering magical FFs (Star), FBs (Johnny O'Keeffe), etc, those being two of the less 'eroded' positions. I mean we even had Cluxton play in the FB line in the AI final in 2019 and what with goalies taking 45s and penalties.
SO'B has the work rate and pace that makes him an ideal retreating attacker and if we are having to convert fellas then we won't be beating the auld dubs any time soon. IMO we have bags of talent everywhere, just a question of how soon they can as a group man up to being the best. Have we got consistent match winners on each line, fellas that won't let you down come what may? You need 10+ of these and I feel we are getting there.
I'd also be surprised that we are taking much from beating Donegal's reserves and Sunday next vs Tyrone will be more what they are about. Mind you Tyrone were also cool vs Mayo so it will be hot in Ballybofey at 1.30pm as the 2nd best team in Ulster will exit the Championship and which should have been seeded of course.

I feel like we have more strength in the forward line, anyone could be converted to half back line. Often think Stephen OB would be a nightmare at W back for any w forward. That said would we be exposed Stephen definitely has the engine to play wing back, but he lacks the technique of how to tackle correctly and has picked up a few cards in that respect during his career. He does his share of the work but not a defender by nature. I'd give it 10 mins before he gets the sin bin

Back pre pandemic worries we were arguing over Donnie Buckley's exit from the camp. I will hold my hand up and say I was disgusted by this and felt it would come back to haunt us. On the evidence of the last 2 games I was completely wrong. Kerry look very solid and are the real deal in my opinion. I have to say i had a bad feeling after i read that post!
