GAA and county board never involved in SK boards decision to cancel the game. Decision taken as per instruction from Dromid. County board not happy at all. In completely unrelated news. Dromid will be relieved final is not this weekend, due to injury to main forward Dilan O'Donoghue they can now get players back fit for rescheduled final. Its a bit sad that you had to create a profile to come out with that. In a way its a pity the game didnt go ahead so all these silly rumours could be put to bed. But whatever motivates you for the final devcon00 Perhaps the injuries to Conor Shea and Anthony Cournane which kept them out of the semi final will benefit from the break also

Disgraceful carry on by the Marys

I think when the dust settles on this that the Marys will regret some of their actions. Turning up to the game yesterday knowing it was off makes them look a little foolish. Maybe they thought it would show up the board or something I dont know. Hard to understand their line of thinking Posting an apology to their supporters on social media saying that they were in the dark and hadnt received correspondence from the sk board since sunday morning is also daft. They were told the game was off on saturday, just chose not to accept the ruling. Im sure the board made a collective decision on it and not any one person, same as the East Kerry intermediate final that was postponed yesterday for the exact same reasons. Its a complete mess and with the announcement postponing all gaa a while ago id say thats the end of it, hard to see any football from here on in

The entire board should consider their positions now as the truth will come out about the lies that have been told

Disgraceful carry on by the Marys Why is it a disgraceful carry on by the Mary’s? The entire gaa organisation shut down and marys looking for an update on date for final. There was two other games called off yesterday in East Kerry as precaution. Right call made if there was even a hint of a player having the virus. South kerry bord should be complimented on taking decisive action and showing leadership.

There was two other games called off yesterday in East Kerry as precaution. Right call made if there was even a hint of a player having the virus. South kerry bord should be complimented on taking decisive action and showing leadership. St Marys posted that this morning, before the GAA announced they were ceasing all club activity. Your comment about the leadership of the south kerry board is laughable.

Ok so we will give marys benefit of doubt as being the only club in country as not to have an idea what was coming. It's now outside of club Window, which means the game cannot proceed as long as kerry are in the championship. I'm sure Mary's knew the club window start and finish dates. So looking for an update on what exactly were they looking for? One would have to compliment the South Kerry bord on there running of competition and choice of venue for the final.

Reading about this again in the kerrys eye this week. Surely it's time to forget about it and move on. St Mary's chairman not coming across very well to still be complaining 4 months later and in the midst of a dam pandemic

They win 5 championships in a row but they lose one and then throw the toys out of the pram

St. Mary's attitude towards the SK final being cancelled is both laughable but also deeply worrying. We are in the middle of a pandemic and there are more important things then football at the moment and to want to have evidence of a covid case in the Dromid camp is nothing short of a disgrace. Con keating park seems to be a brigade of tin foil hat wearers

Unbelievably this game is finally on tomorrow in Waterville at 2. I never thought it would go ahead but it seems the SK board are desperate to run it off. Marys have had an impressive year going to division 1 and will be looking to make amends for the previous years defeat. I also think they will make a mark on the intermediate championship this year. Dromid were relegated to division 3 and have lost a huge chunk of the sk winning team of 2019, even since last year they have lads retired and 3 or 4 gone abroad or transferred. Incidentally the Marys have also lost players who have gone to Canada (2 I think) and Denis Daly has had to retire on medical grounds.
Hard to see past the Marys regaining their title based on the year just gone but then its the squad of 2020 that have to play so any new fellas this year are out so who knows. The delay might have diluted it a bit but dont for one second think both teams wont be going full pelt at this, 4th year in a row they have faced off so they know each other inside out

St Marys 2-11 Dromid 2-09 Jack Daly motm
Another classic between these 2 with the Marys coming out on top once again by very little. For the first 45 minutes Dromid were the better side and looked likely to retain their title, however 2 goals in the last quarter for St Marys got them over the line. It was a good game to watch, some errors on both sides but for the most part, there was some great defending and attacking play. Dromid were with the wind in the first half and led by 4 at the break but that never seemed like it was going to be enough to hold onto a win. A few sloppy frees conceded before ht really hit Dromid hard in the end. However a Dilan Donoghue goal in the opening minutes of the second half put Dromid 7 in front and from that point they really should have seen it out. Marys chipped away with some points and had it brought back to a 3 point deficit by the second waterbreak. At this point you just knew that the Marys were going to finish strong, they had the wind at their backs and brought on Adam Quirke and Dan Daly who made a big impact and got on alot of ball. A cracking goal from Anthony Cournane brought the game level with some 8 minutes to go and a minute later the Marys went into the lead for the first time in the game. A slightly fortuitous second goal for the Marys and in the blink of an eye they were somehow 5 points up with time almost up. Dromid rallied to score a late goal almost instantly through Niall O Shea but needed a third goal which was asking a bit much and the Marys held on for a 2 point win. Cracking game, the venue was amazing and the day was dry if a little windy. Seamus Mulvihill reffed and did a decent job I felt although one or two could consider themselves lucky not to have seen black. There was one slightly odd moment in the second half where he was getting grief from the Marys fans on the sideline and he responded to it to a chorus of jeers.
For all the talk and the ill feeling about how the game was postponed, and also the fact that the last few clashed have been very physical and often spilled over to fisticuffs, this was a good clean game with no dirt at any stage.
You'd have to feel for Dromid, this is certainly one that got away, they tired very visibly in the last quarter and hadnt many subs to introduce to freshen things up. By my count they had 4 eligible subs and by the finish had 2 or 3 players on the pitch that could hardly move. Cian Shea got injured early on and they had to use a sub much earlier than they would have liked. They also had 6 players return for this game, some from abroad and some from retirement so fair play to them for that. They have lost several finals over the last few years and with numbers dwindling its hard to see them challenging much going forward. As for the Marys, thats now 9 titles in 12 years for them. They had a lot of young players on show yesterday and they all aquitted themselves well. Brian Sheehan doesnt quite have the same impact he used to have and didnt kick all the frees for a change, however he made some vital contributions when it mattered and now has the record for the most SK medals with 12. With Dromid on the slip, Renard and Portmagee are probably next best (going by county league anyway) but it would be hard to see the Marys not winning another 9 in the next 12 or maybe even better! Thats now the 4th year in a row that Dromid and the Marys have met in the final, time for someone else to stand up and challenge the townies!
The draw for the 2021 championship will most likely be made soon, not sure what the story is now with Valentia not fielding a team anymore, it will leave an uneven number of teams there
