Was the Feale Rangers win a shock one?

Was the Feale Rangers win a shock one? Not really. The Crokes aren't strong at this level, the main reason they went alone is the size of the club. Feale Rangers have drawn East Kerry and I would expect a very big win for East Kerry.

Attended the game between stacks and south kerry and it was a cracker of a game. Impressing for south kerry was Cian Donoghue(St.Marys) who scored a great goal, Cathal O'Shea(Renard) who was deployed on Jordan kissane and kept him quiet all game. Ruairi Burns(sneem) who scored 7 points and kept the ball well through numerous tackles and Fionain O'Suillivan(skellig rangers) who had some very impressive fielding and kicked a great point. For stacks Joey Nagle who also kicked a great point and Donnacha Sayers impressed.

Is there an argument that there shouldn't be divisional sides at this level? Or are they important for building up identity etc for the senior teams.

Is there an argument that there shouldn't be divisional sides at this level? Or are they important for building up identity etc for the senior teams. For me I feel that it should depend on the strength of the district when it cones to county championship. Sides like South kerry and West kerry havent really produced any winning teams for the past few years, meanwhile the fact East kerry is still combined isnt fair on the rest of the teams because of the sheer size of the district and the depth of the squad in comparison to other teams

It should be available to as many as possible

Is there an argument that there shouldn't be divisional sides at this level? Or are they important for building up identity etc for the senior teams. Absolutely nothing wrong with Divisional sides at this level - the problem comes when a divisional side is allowed to become a powerhouse by virtue of the number of clubs within the division. One of the main arguements in favour of divisional sides is they give opportunity to players from lower divisions to win a county championship. There should be a limit to the number of (League) Division 1 & 2 sides playing in a divisional side - possibly linked either to club senior status or the division played at u16 grade (or other appropriate measure of strength). Historically Divisional side win about 2/3rd of the minor champioships with club victories being relatively rare - Crokes have never won the minor championship as a club team and Stacks have only won it twice I think. Think someone posted a roll oh honour on the forum in the past but cannot find it.

South kerry again produced a very decent preformance against west kerry. Again impressing was Cathal O Shea(Renard) who again did a great job defensively and is surely in line for a call up onto the minor team, Ruairi burns (Sneem) who again kicked the majority of south kerrys points and had great control of the game,Fionain O Suillivan(skellig rangers) who was dominating the middle of the field until a injury took him off. For west kerry Caolan O Connell(Castlegregory) was a strong presence in centre back and put in some decent tackles and Thomas O Donnell(Castlegregory) who was a non stop runner throughout the game and got on a lot of ball.

Some serious defensive preformacances in the south kerry brendans game. Oisin maunsell was a constant present throughout the game with some dashing runs. Darragh Suillivans free taking was instrumenal in the win where they were limited to virtually no oppertunaties from play. I thought the South kerry fowards were very poor and were relient on runs up the field from Cian O Donoghue and Cathal O Shea who were also turning over ball with great success and are two to watch this year. The other semi final was a dead rubber with East kerry destroying legion by 29 points stressing again the unfairness of them being joined.

Final tonight in Austin Stack Park, East Kerry vs St Brendans. It should be a very close game. If East Kerry win it’ll be there 5th Minor Championship win in a row. I find it extremely hard to call but I’ll go for a one point Brendans win.

When you look at the matchups between the two teams you have to say east kerry look much stronger on paper. However this brendans team are full of grit as shown is their previous preformances especially against south kerry where they had to dig deep. Im calling east kerry by 5 or 6 as they are just too powerful for this brendans team.

Half time
EK 0.10 St Brendans 1.04
St Brendans got off to a flying start with an early goal but as the half progressed EK took control. They got a lot of scores from frees.
EK had five wides in the first half.
That means St Brendans had 15 kickouts in the first half. EK won posession from around 10 of them.
St Brendans are capable of scores but they are not getting enough ball.
They will have the wind in the second half.

Brendans will not be happy with the referee who has made a number of poor decisions against them ...
Brendans look to be better placed to take this game

Engrossing second half.
Both teams very tired now.
EK more like to get a handy free to win it.
Johnnny Crowleys son got what looked like the winning point only from Brendans to kick a great equaliser.

1.14 to 3.08 at half time in extra time.
EK looked to be set up having scored 1.01 but Brendans 1.01 in the last minute...the goal by Oisin Maunsell after the keeper fluffed his kickout.
What can EK do to kill off Brendans?

Great battle - have to feel sorry for St Brendans who just did not get that bit of luck required to win ..
Congrats to EK
