Ah lads were gone soft.I can remember going to a Munster final in the mid 80s and the streets of Cork were like Venice. But the game was played.Think the mantra is now if the pitch is playable and it's not a Red Alert the show must go on.Theres too much info out there now with modern technology as it is.

The Virus has landed in Ulster. What plan has the Gaa put in place to protect players and supporter against it. I have no doubt all games will be postponed if people are at risk for a few weeks minimum.

Looks like it will go to Sunday. That would be the sensible course of action given the yellow weather forecast warning for Mayo & Kerry for tomorrow- lets hope the GAA act swiftly - Harty Cup already called off.

Looks like it will go to Sunday. Where's that coming from? Don't know if it is any help to travelling supporters but up here in Letterkenny it is windy and you'd sense that something worse might be brewing but of course individual towns can often be spared, funny how the cold is gone, almost a spring temperature. What might be interesting is what direction the stand is facing at MacHale Park relative to the anticipated wind. Money has been spent on buildings there but as regards drainage, is it a Pronty type pitch I wonder? Was it v heavy vs Dubs last time there? Maybe such challenging conditions would test older lads more? You'd imagine that any rescheduling might be in parallel with Omagh game.

One aspect the GAA seem to overlook is the safety of players and supporters getting to and from matches and not just care about the condition of the pitch for the 2 hours that the game is on, especially those travelling long distances. In England with the high quality drainage and undersoil heating, it's very rare the facilities won't be able to deal with the weather conditions, and any cancellations are usually because of the danger for the people travelling to and from the event.
There's still some Kerry supporters stuck in East Tyrone, and if they're lucky enough to be quarantined in a pub because of Covid-19 it might be another 2 weeks before they get home!

Red warning issued for Galway and Clare. Hard to see this going ahead if Kerry people are being told stay out of Clare and Galway! We can just go from Limerick to Athlone onto Roscommon and straight onto Claremorris before turning right, then left for Castlebar. At least that's what the GAA will probably think.

The Status Orange warning is in place for Galway, Clare, Mayo and Kerry, from 6am on Saturday until 3am on Sunday. The warning also applies for Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim from midday on Saturday until 3am on Sunday.
A Status Red wind warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Galway and Clare, with Storm Jorge set to bring gusts of up to 145km/h.
The warning is valid from 1pm until 4pm on Saturday.
The forecaster is warning of "very severe winds", with mean speeds reaching up to 100km/h in places.
Meteorologist with Met Éireann, Gerry Murphy said people in Galway and Clare should stay indoors during the period when the Status Red Wind warning - the most severe - is in place.
Speaking on RTÉ's Six One, Mr Murphy said people should "stop all activities outdoors, and stay out of the weather" while the red warning is in place, as he said "extremely damaging" gusts could reach up to 145km/hr during this time.
He said the coastal areas in Clare and Galway will feel the strongest winds.
There is likely to be coastal flooding at Galway Bay and on the West coast of Clare, Mr Murphy added.
Mr Murphy urged people to check met.ie to for the specific the warnings for their county.
A Status Orange wind warning has also been issued for the rest of the country over various stages of the weekend.
The Status Orange warning is in place for Galway, Clare, Mayo and Kerry, from 6am on Saturday until 3am on Sunday. The warning also applies for Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim from midday on Saturday until 3am on Sunday.
A Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for the rest of the country from 9am on Saturday, which from 1pm until 7pm will be upgraded to Orange. From 7pm until midnight, that warning will revert back to Yellow.
The National Emergency Coordination Group has asked people to heed the advice of local authorities as Storm Jorge approaches.
The storm is likely to bring a significant risk of coastal and inland flooding, as very wet and windy conditions are expected throughout Saturday.
A status red alert warns of extremely dangerous weather conditions. People are urged to take action to protect themselves and their property.
A status orange relates to dangerous weather conditions which may pose a threat to life and property. The public is urged to prepare themselves in an appropriate way depending on location and activity.
A Status Red Marine Gale Warning will also develop tonight on Irish coastal waters.
Met Éireann has said that rainfall amounts in February have already exceeded record levels in many parts of the country.

soccer called offHorse racing also called offYet not even a statement or an update by the GAA The supporters bus is already on the way and I intend to catch a bus at noon tomorrow. They will probably call off the game at 6pm when we're all travelling through the worst of the storm.

I posted 4 hrs ago that there was storm brewing in Dgal, we have now had 2 hours of absolute calmness, not a puff of air if that's believable given the time of year, there are somewhat conflicting weather warnings but I'd say it is looking like we will have action, unless of course the weather doesn't abide by the Sat 1pm-4pm high risk period.
With respect I don't think HQ is out to inconvenience anyone but in saying that they don't inspire with other decisions when all factors are within their control, maybe same old, etc?

Perhaps the reason that there is no action by the GAA is that ALL CCCC members are at the Congress gathering. With matters like the election of the next President taking all their attention, who worries about the players and supporters.

What is more likely is that the event controller will make the call when they have all the necessary information in the morning. I would be amazed if they played it as a storm of that magnitude is liable to cause damage to the stadium or its environs. It could well be fine there at 7.15 tomorrow night but I can't see how they would take the chance, especially with Sunday and next weekend viable options to re fix the game.

Television is a factor too. It will not be called off if at all possible as RTE have a 4-game deal for Saturday nights and this needs to be honoured. The recent LOI game was called off due to high winds in Dublin.

Its a joke no decision made by now. Sligo called off their LOI game last night.
GAA have no respect for fans. I'm sitting here waiting, as I am sure most are, not knowing what my plans are for the day.
Heading off around 10.30 if its on.
