A few posters have have made similar points but I will throw in my tuppence worth anyway based on patterns that might emerge as the league goes on
David Shaw could establish himself during the league. He’s good around the box, can take a long range score and is an intelligent support player.
It would be great to see James O’D back to his best. Hopefully Kilian Spillane has continued his progress.
At county level Tony Brosnan could struggle with the cynicism of the modern corner back e.g. Johnny Cooper on David Clifford.
When they rejoin the panel Jack Barry and Diarmuid O’Connor should get a lot of game time at midfield. Diarmuid can become one of the great fielders / distributors. Of course there are some others that will get game time here but we should be hoping that 1 emerges to be a strong partner for Moran in the championship.
In defence Peter Crowley, Tom O’Sullivan, Paul Murphy, Gavin Crowley are of AI winning standard. Jason Foley is close to it. No matter how eye catching a defender is bursting forward with the ball like Ó Beaglaoich and White their bread and butter job is man marking. They both have work to do in that area. We will be looking for 2 or 3 “hard” defenders (Eamonn Breen) to emerge.

I thought jack Barry did well in both finals ladt year it looks to me like we need improvement in every line really particularly the two half lines. The main thing here being every player who is brought on strenghtens/ adds something new to the team. Personnally i though Jack Sherwood was a grest addition last year hopefully peter crowley can come back as good as he was in last years league he adds a nice bit of aggression. There should be a natural improvement in a lot of our guys as they mature so hopefully they can improve as much from last year as they did from 2018 because they need to !

I have heard that there has been a decision to tweak the strength and conditioning program this year. Or more specifically how things are measured. Has there been a change of personnel in that dept?

Can anybody confirm whether there have been changes to the management team for the upcoming season? Specifically, is Donie Buckley still involved? I have heard differing reports on this

Something from Donegal to ponder as we await team selection - GAA Predictions for 2020The contention therein supports my notion that Donegal may well be the formidable challenge this year, and indeed beyond. Part of me thinks that they are becoming more suited to the non-Ulster style of play and if the aforementioned consensus is that Kerry will win Sam, then I wonder how they rate themselves, given last years draw? i.e. well they'd hardly put pressure on themselves. I attended a good few club games last fall, including no less than 3 exciting stagings of the county final. Down to the last 4, outsiders prevailing was the standout feature. There is now a groundswell of 'The Gaelic' here and though I don't have the stats to back it up, not a month passes but you hear of a new star in the making. There is certainly a growing body of what we will call middling players across an ever widening number of clubs, and if you have that they you will have a proportionate number of potential county boys among them. It is all great to see and rest assured there will be plenty of it seen before Sam is lifted again!

I have heard differing reports on this Maurice Fitzgerald threatened to leave the management team after last year's all ireland final replay due disagreement with Peter Keane Donie Buckley in support of Maurice was to step down too but Maurice and Peter have since sorted their differences and the status quo remains we don't hear about this anymore because Peter has certain members of the media in his back pocket

Discretion as is necessary in the former, is too often used to cover up badness and which should not be covered up. Still I'd like to know what the disagreement was, as we lost and Maurice Fitz played in such situations. We just didn't convert enough in the latter stages according to PK.

I assume team will be named tomorrow night? Be interesting to see whos named particularly in mf. Tommy walsh probably a good shout to start with the new rule him and clifford could cause havoc inside if we get enough ball in. I had somehow missed that there will be a 4 second no tackle time like the kickout mark (outside the rectangle). Winning the ball clean around the d could lead to mayhem now on the flip side we arent blessed with huge defenders either so could be tough at the back for us too.

I'd say there will be a small enough crowd there on sat night. The na gaeil gang will head straight down the road to the club house if they win. Long way to expect people to travel home after 9pm on a winters night

Anyway.
Can anyone explain to me why everyone expects the Dubs to lose tomorrow night? Seems to be a nascent notion that Kerry are bound to win around the place. Not here obviously but out in the real world.

Dublin have nothing done. Kerry back since November, with a lot of training under their belt. Should be winning this with plenty to spare.

David Moran and Peter Crowley have the long term injuries while I have also heard doubts around Gavin Crowley and Tom O'Sullivan's availability although they could be available.

Not here obviously but out in the real world. Guessthe thought is that they wouldve wintered well and are only a couple of weeks into training. I do vaguely remember watching their first game v monaghan last year and they were shocking bad in that. I think there is a bit of truth in there alright they wouldnt have had as many players playing sigerson as us so fitness levels might not be as good as ours having said that lads these days arent having 20 pints a weekend in the off season like in the 80s. For me its impossible to call i have no clue what way either team will line out like or what way fitness will be. I do think we will win though..

Kerry’s pre Xmas was probably good but with the holiday away, club championships plus Sigerson it must have been difficult to get any sort of momentum going; I know they played a challenge game last week & then had an internal game at the weekend - most likely only one session this week with the game on tomorrow night. A midfield partnership is probably anyone’s guess! I would hope we can get the points but not overly optimistic.

Is adrian spillane fit ? If he is you would imagine he would start. Sean o shea would be an obvious enough choice aswell.

Strong team name, would love to see JOD get a good clear run in the league. On paper the best FF line in Ireland in my opinion.

Strong side. Think PK will stay with a more settled side this year. Of the 4 missing from replay, Tom and Moran should get back in. See DC is no 14. Piseogs?

The striking thing about the team is that it seems to be an improvised selection if they line out as selected.
Conversely, if we get to the AI final that forward line could be very close to the attack that lines out then.
The striking thing about the midfield is that they may try to impress individually and not form a partnership, playing into Fenton's hands (no pun intended).
The backs look like it will be a workman like effort to get a result.
A lot of the comments about the work Kerry has done does not match what Jason McGahon said on Terrace Talk on Monday.
