Not really - more of a case of Legion being sluggish in the first half, before coming to life in the second half. Thanks. You mentioned James O'Donoghue was MOM, is he back to his old form? Or do you think he would struggle to replicate his form of 2013/2014?

big scoring in the crokes v spa match
hard to believe Legion haven't won this since 1976 which was put up in an earlier post. Is this correct?
They had a good team in the early 1990s when they won the co league

Or do you think he would struggle to replicate his form of 2013/2014? His 2013/2014 form was Player of the Year form. There's very few players who ever reach those heights, never mind 5/6 years later especially with all the knocks and injuries he's had. He's turns 30 next year. However just because he's very unlikley to hit those heights again doesn't mean he's finished up by any manner of means. He can definitely be a very valueable squad player for Kerry for 2/3 more years. A lot depends on how his body holds up over the next few years and how much of an impression the the younger pretenders make in terms of challenging for a starting place.

I'd say you'd have to go back a fair bit to find a 3 game stretch where Crokes conceded an average of 21.66 points over 3 games. Between Crokes's recent form and the fact that Legion haven't won an O'Donoghue Cup in so long, I'm sure this should be an entertaining encounter.

Doesn't seem like 5/6 years ago, I also didn't realise he was approaching 30 either. Still seems like he is a younger guy on the panel. Still 2/3 more years might see him contribute to another all Ireland. Thanks for the feedback.

Score from Killarney: Killarney Legion 1-18 Dr. Crokes 3-6 (ht 0-9 to 0-4)
Five points to start the second half to give a 10-point lead overall was one of the deciding factors here.
Killarney Legion pushed the margin out to 12 points (1-16 to 1-4) with about 10 minutes left.
Fully deserved win for the men in green and white...43 years is too long for sure.

What is the situation now re the captaincy nomination. How is it done. I presume it is between DC & JS. Do legion nominate one of them now to lead Kerry in 2020?

Legion full value for their win today but how far Crokes have gone back in 12 months is frightening. Very poor today. No hunger and didn't look fit.

My information, for what it's worth, is that the Co. Champions, East Kerry, have the privilege of nominating the captain. I'm told that it is already decide and that it will be announced in due course. I think nobody will be disappointed.

Congrats to Legion
Better team.
Crokes just havie not been clicking on all cylinders. No excuses really . They have introduced youth. I think the break now will do them good
Come back rejuvenated next year.
They still have the talent .

Are Crokes trying to recover from that beating by Corofin in the club semi final?

With forwards like Brosnan Shaw Kiely Daithi Casey and Jack Griffin should be very strong again next year after a few months break.

Interesting stuff here, us non Lakers of course know of Legion but may not understand the intricacies of things Lakeside.
Still one senses Crokers are mentally drained - now I'd always ruck for the challenger, don't all neutrals, so well done to the Legion and it reminds of Cork living in the shadows of Kerry i.e. Rebels would say they were the second best team in Ireland all those years.
Crokers fortunes could also be a symptom of the increasing demands on lads, what with the trade=off between the increasingly 'always on' workplace and the increasing standard and consequent demands of the great-est game.
Now don't get me wrong, but if that trade-off hits prosperous places like Lakeside, just imagine the rural club dilemma.
Don't forget, anyone worth their salt knows too well that our World Cup Dream turned nightmare was down to mental fatigue too, Be Jasus but I wouldn't want a bus loada Lakers on my case, worse till mentally fatigued wans, Oh the sting of the dying wasp!
