Due to the Garvey's County Championship game between St. Kieran's and Kilcummin being deferred to 13 October, both O'Donoghue Cup games scheduled for that day (Firies v Currow and Scartaglin v Gneeveguilla) have been postponed to a date that has yet to be announced.

I'd think a fair bet both the other games featuring Spa,Glenflesk, Fossa and Listry wont be played either.

From what I heard. these games will be going ahead as planned. Meaning some east Kerry players will have to play 5 championship games in a row. I'd think a fair bet both the other games featuring Spa,Glenflesk, Fossa and Listry wont be played either.

It seems 2020 will see Kenmare Shamrocks, Tuosist and Kilgarvan play in the East Kerry championship as Kenmare District will not run competitions. Templenoe will join the South Kerry championship.
Kenmare District will field in the 2020 Senior Football championship, but if intermediate club champions Templenoe opt for senior club status, it will leave only Tuosist and Kilgarvan for the District team. I have no information on 2020 Underage District teams and their make up.

I think Kilgarvan and Kenmare have participated in some East Kerry under age competitions, as well as the East Kerry League early in the season.

So are Niall, Jack and the other Firies lads going to play two days in a row, or is the O Donoghue Cup so diminished that it doesn't matter to Firies?

why is the kenmare board breaking up? football is strong enough down there at the moment, maybe they are the victims of this i guess with possibly 2 of their 4 teams being senior.

So are Niall, Jack and the other Firies lads going to play two days in a row, or is the O Donoghue Cup so diminished that it doesn't matter to Firies? This is very strange. Future fixtures for the Firies club players include a relegation deciding county league Div 3 game on 3 Nov, plus a play-off if Firies win that game v St. Pat's Blennerville. Even with draws, there is no way the East Kerry players from Firies will be tied up with County Championship after 24 Nov at the latest. Plenty of time in Dec to play the O'Donoghue Cup. Dr. Crokes may have the added fixtures of Munster Club football (semi-final 17 Nov with final set for 1 Dec if they qualify). Dr. Crokes O'Donoghue Cup quarter-final might not be till 8 Dec which would hold up the entire competition...although semi-final on 15 Dec and final on 21/22 Dec would not be the worst fixture crisis ever. Again, very strange from EKB with this fixture list for Firies, but I presume the club had to agree to it all.

O'Donoghue Cup Quarter Final draw - :
Killarney Legion v Fossa Dr. Crokes v Kilcummin
Gneeveguilla or Scartaglin v Rathmore Spa v Currow
Mind you, the East Kerry Board tweet does not include Scartaglin in the draw (the Gneeveguilla tweet does)...since I haven't heard anything about Scartaglin conceding the game (or playing it and losing) to Gneeveguilla, I'll let them stay in the draw until the matter is cleared up.
Quarter final games will be fixed for "the first available date" per EKB tweet. That could mean anything, except I'll bet that no games will be played this coming weekend 2/3 Nov, which is the first available date for the 3 games not containing Dr. Crokes.
Stay tuned...
Edit 31 Oct: The Scartaglen (note the spelling) facebook page says the 28 October fixture was postponed on 24 October due to a bereavement. Still no details on when the game might be played.

Per a tweet on Gneeveguilla's page the quarter-finals line up as follows, with first named team at home:
Dr. Crokes v Kilcummin Saturday 16 Nov 2pm (clarified by Dr. Crokes tweet, which includes comment that Kilgarvan's Munster Club hurling has been switched to Fitzgerald Stadium at 1:30pm on the same day)
Spa v Currow Sunday 17 Nov 2pm
Gneeveguilla v Rathmore Sunday 24 Nov 12:30pm
Killarney Legion v Fossa Sunday 24 Nov 1pm.
Still no idea how the Gneeveguilla/Scartaglen fixture was resolved/played/conceded or what...anyone know?
edit: 16 Nov Result: Dr. Crokes 3-16 Kilcummin 3-15
edit 2: 17 Nov Result: Spa 4-15 Currow 1-10
edit 3: 24 Nov results: Gneeveguilla 2-8 Rathmore 0-13; Killarney Legion 3-9 Fossa 0-6

Any history buffs out there that could tell me when Spa or Legion last won EK? I know Gneeveguilla won it in 2003 or 2004 or so

Interesting thanks, So Gneeveguilla - 2003 Legion - 1976 Spa - 1989
Spa were in and around the finals for most of the late eighties. Legion have only made it to 5 finals since they last won it in 76. A long time for such a big club. By a quick count, Crokes have only failed to make it to 16 finals since 1955. Talk about dominating

Dr Crokes will be looking for revenge as Spa were part of the East Kerry Team that beat them earlier this month.’ Spa had 6 starters for East Kerry that day and 3 introduced as subs with 13 on the panel altogether. Does anyone know if Dara Moynihan is back playing?
