Apparently the provisional fixtures have been relayed to the counties. Donegal have published theirs and they are playing Kerry in Kerry on Sunday March 22nd. It’s the final league game. We are due to have four away games: Dublin, Mayo, Monaghan and Tyrone I imagine and home to Galway, Meath and Donegal. It wouldn’t surprise me if Dublin v Kerry is the opening league game under lights and Kerry having the “”pleasure”” of clapping the all conquering five in a row champions onto the field. Oh * that. Tis grand. We'll clap them onto the field, then bate them back off it

www.kerrygaa.ie/news_detail/10055814/First retirement of preseason, Killian Young, a great servant to Kerry football over the past decade andd a half.[/quote Thank you to Killian Young for all his years of commitment to Kerry.Ithought he was a key man in 2014, at least as I remember it. I am looking at a poster of the 2007 All Ireland panel & only Tommy Walsh remains.

Killian Young was one of my favourite players of his era. Stylish on the ball and a very decent lad. Good luck to him and I think it is the right decision.

Killian Young last member of the 2006/07 All-Ireland winning teams. Hard to think as it seems like it was only yesterday

Excellent defender - injuries curtailed involvement last 5 years - owed Kerry nothing. Timing of decision is about right. A Mr dependable over the years.

Any rumours on the senior management team staying put from 2019 to 2020 (or not staying put as the case may be)?
Edit: Not that I know anything...but there's always stories doing the rounds...

On some of the existing players referenced:
Moynihan: Have seen nothing from him since he got motm v Dublin in league, maybe he needs another season but a lot to do
Lyne: I think his time is up, never quite good enough imo, a good guy but...
Griffin: exciting pace and strength but has had a lot of opportunities and there is no clear spot even in the half back line he could own, prone to losing possession or giving ball away-maybe last chance saloon this year
Sherwood: All his best work is going forward, one player who can definitely unlock systems like Tyrone’s. Definitely a weapon to use going forward, third midfielder seems to be best position
Big Tommy: another two years in him, second half Championship player in forwards, more game time during league, his role against Tyrone and Dublin was best fit
Moran: We need cover for him, age and lack of pace is negating what he brings to the table very well

Cork will be raging with this morning's draw if the tier 2 motion passes.

Anyone from the county championship standing out so far that could push for the league next year?
Shaw and Brosnan seem to be impressing for Crokes. Any sign of a midfielder and a few corner backs at all?

Presume the Cork v Kerry semi-final will be in Cork in early June, going by last year's timetable.

If Cork lose will they still be in the Sam Maguire competition or the B championship if it gets off the ground?

If Cork lose will they still be in the Sam Maguire competition or the B championship if it gets off the ground? If Tier 2 proposals get the go ahead AND Cork lose semi, then they drop out of contention - they would have to make their provincial final to maintain an interest in Sam, being a Div 3 side.

Tipperary have a motion for congress next weekend proposing that the tier 2 counties for championship 2020 be those in divisions 3 and 4 at the end of the 2020 league. The current Tier 2 proposal uses league positions based on the 2019 league final standings. The Tipperary motion makes a lot of sense and I presume Cork will back it.

Correct: Tipp and Cork could argue that if they knew the proposals were coming down the line they might have approached the league very differently.

More interested in confirmed stories about the entire backroom team. There is always a change or two as people move on in their lives.
There always seems to be about ten stories going around to each truth.
Any confirmed departures, or is it too early to say?

Was it a 2 year stint the manager and selectors signed up for last year? Changes at that level would be a bit of a surprise, but there's the backroom team that would have a change or two on more personal levels maybe.
Changes in the more "volunteer" parts of the set up.

Paul Galvin was interviewed on OTB earlier. He said his preference would have been to get involved in coaching under a manager but no such opportunities were there. He went for the Wexford job interview to learn how these things work and ended up with the job. He has Mattie Forde plus another who i forget now.
He said there are 52 clubs in wexford and 48 are dual clubs. He spoke highly of Davy Fitz and plans to watch his sessions.
No question of looking to get dual players involved.
Very intetesting and honest interview...a man in at the deep end, learning fast and up for the challenge.
It will be interesting how it goes.

Galvin personifies 'the exception that proves the rule', 'can't do so will teach', now he tries to teach what can't be learned!
Ballythefireside quote of the day Taught isn't thought
You can't teach that, a wee poem we have in the making 'What they can't teach you at Harvard, was invented in Lixnaw'
