It would be disappointing if Gavin O'Brien was dropped. Not having come through the underage grades he needs loads of intercounty conditioning now. Peter Crowley would be an integral part of whatever defensive game they put together! My sources tell me Gavin is training with Kerry

Disappointing for the lads that were dropped especially Gavin O'Brien, he could be back in again and hopefully he will, but at this time I think it's a good move by Keane and Co. A month after the league and a month before the first championship match, bringing in a few new faces and letting some go will keep everyone's heads in the right place.

RTE have revealed their coverage for the season. They are showing one, yes one, pre-provincial final football game. They are showing 10 pre provincial final hurling games.

RTE have revealed their coverage for the season. They are showing one, yes one, pre-provincial final football game. They are showing 10 pre provincial final hurling games. the Munster and Leinster hurling championships equate to the Super 8s in football. The top 8 or 9 hurling counties play in those. If you want to draw an analogy with hurling.... they are showing no Joe McDonagh games at all. In other words, the super 8s in both codes get priority. The issue is not about hurling getting top billing.... its about the weaker counties in both codes getting little coverage. From the start of May to the end of August the top teams in both codes will be on display.

Peter Crowley out for the year by all accounts Really really bad news if it's true. He hurt his knee last Sunday for rangers. Wonder is it the cruciate?

Awful injury for Peter gutted for him and the team, one area we really couldn't afford to loose experience like his. On a different note i saw Mark O Connor doing incredible in Australia.. break your heart.

I see where Rory O’Carrill is back training with Dublin. He was a good fullback and I think Dublin struggled to fill the spot since he left. They weren’t great under the high ball without him. He’s good in the air and I think it will make them even stronger in the fullback line now.
If Connolly comes back it will surely make them even stronger and also strengthen their bench and options

Massive blow for Kerry. I thought Crowley had a new lease of life this year and is one of the main leaders of the team.

Terrible blow for Peter Crowley who seemed to be coming to the peak of his powers as a player. Peter's hard earned experience and emerging leadership will be a huge loss to the Kingdom. I hope Peter makes it back and wish him the best possible recovery.

Massive blow for Kerry. I thought Crowley had a new lease of life this year and is one of the main leaders of the team. Started every game in the league and was only subbed off in one game - the Roscommon game, when the match was well won. Really looked to be in serious consistent form throughout the league. On the slightly more positive side of things, this is was Keane said about injuries Monday.

This is heartbreaking news about Peter, both for himself and the county. Some people here had misgivings about his switch to the full back line but having seen him play there a few years ago with UCC won the Cork county I felt it was a prudent move as he had lost some of his pace. His ruggedness, guile and experience will be sorely missed back there. I hope this is not a fatal blow to our chances. It leaves me desolate in any case.
Peter, thanks for your enormous contribution to Kerry football and , with the help of God, we may again witness your body shuddering collisions in 2020

As anyone who reads my posts knows, I know SFA about football... but I thought you wanted your "fast" backs in the full back line?
When I say "fast" I am not talking top end speed but in terms of agility, over the first few yards, etc.
I feel sorry for Peter Crowley, was a big player for Kerry over the past few years.

Crowley out for the year not that huge a loss to be honest - alwats felt he was vulnerable as a back when he was ran at and picked up needless bookings and cards which then limited his physical game - nontheless best of luck with the recovery
Hopefully nothing happens O Shea or Clifford this year in terms of injury

Hoping Peter makes a full recovery - best wishes for him.
Always felt he was ready for a yellow with the gumshield hanging out of his mouth, but was never caught.

Leadership is vital to a young and developing team and he will be missed for that quality.

Peter Crowley is a warrior. It’s very unfortunate for Peter and the Kerry team that he’s now injured. I wish him well on the long road ahead. His grit and determination, allied to his football skills and leadership qualities, will be sorely missed during the forthcoming championship.

Huge loss to Kerry to this year, always brought the fight forward for Kerry. At 29, cruciate, uncompromising position at corner back in terms of movement and speed, this will be a challenging one for him. All narrows any gain-lines for Kerry on the Dubs this year.

We are losing men in an area of the team where we can least afford to. From what I know, David Moran is in a race against time with his injury and we shouldn't expect him lining out any time soon. Don't forget that David had serious knee issues before. Without him in the middle of the field-?
In any event, I believe that this is his last year.

Diarmuid Connolly back for Dublin breaking news Where did you hear that? Gavin ‘didn’t rule out’ a return today when asked about it but if he was coming back he would surely be training by now. Very doubtful he’d get his place back in the 15 anyway he is in to his thirties now and after a year away. Would be a dangerous weapon off the bench though.

I was wondering about Moran today, he need to be going full pelt by July or we are in trouble. Difficult to see that happening at this stage. What might be the plan without him? Young Diarmuid O’Connor looks a great prospect but it would be unfair to throw him in at the deep end this year. Can’t ever remember us being this short around the middle.
