Sounded from RK like it was a fairly straightforward win against a poor enough Roscommon side. Clifford seemed to be in good form but I'd imagine not a lot new learnt. Final next week against Mayo. If both teams go all out to win then it could be a cracking game.

Not a bad finish to the round robin all the same. Decent score, couple of goals, clean sheet, Clifford back with 5 points, final to look forward to.

Congratulations to the Kerry team, Peter Keane & management on their debut season to make a league final is a great sign of progress. Standards in Division one generally have tightened up a lot and standards are high, so great credit is due to Kerry for topping this Division while really developing a new team.

Based on what evidence is Ryan way out in front? Its my opinion based on what I have seen of all 3 players going back as far as 2014 in the case of Kelly. You are welcome to form your own opinion. I wont go asking for detailed exhibits and transcripts from you whatever you pick.

Well done to all today. Comfortable enough victory in the end despite being 3 points down after 20 minutes albeit Roscommon had a wind. Kerry could have had a goal from Clifford after about 15 seconds but the keeper blocked. Roscommon got a few nice scores early on and cox was showing well. Killian Spillane replaced Kevin mac early on due to an hand/shoulder injury. Killian did not take his chance today and he may not get many more this year. Eventually Kerry began to get on top. Clifford nearly goaled again and eventually Sean o se got the goal to open the gap. Overall the Kerry forwards had too much and they had the beating of their men for the most part.
Once Kerry got a lead it was comfortable enough for the rest of the game.
Probably not a lot to be said for the game other than it marked the return of Clifford who was outstanding without even being at his best.

So just your opinion then Correct. Thats why i started the post with “think that ryan is out in front” and ended with saying “for me”. At no point did i state that “peter keane has confirmed to me via whatsapp”.... or “at the conclusion of a government funded study over the last 3 years” 🙄😉

Ryan is a good bit out in front of the other 2. Kelly has been given loads of chances but looks too nervous and indecisive for this level. The competition will be for who gets the nod for 2nd choice goalkeeper

As Kingdomson said, this a great achievement by Peter and friends. I think none of us on here were optimistic enough to think that we would reach the final, hoping to retain our status with encouraging displays from various players. We got that and more. The final will be a great test and should be a very competitive game. Peter will have learned a lot from this campaign and being a shrewd boy the knowledge gained will be put to maximal use as the year progresses. The motto will be : a lot learned and a lot to learn.
Hugely important that JO’D and David remain injury free. With a fit Paul to come back we will not be short of firepower.
It’s a shame that Kevin McCarhy picked up another injury. He seemed to be prominent while he was on per Radio Kerry.
Looking forward to reports from lads who travelled.

It is a truly great achievement to get to the final and too the division with only one loss out of seven. Would have considered survival in Div one as a good result with mid table status as a great result given new management and untested players.
Great to see David Clifford back and coincidentally or not we found our goal scoring boots. David got a lot of attention on and off the ball and I think a little frustration rubbed off in a late incident with the Roscommon goalkeeper. I thought the referee perhaps was a bit too lenient in favour of the Rossies in the early stages of the game but by the end the home crowd were baying for his blood.
Commiserations to Roscommon but a hard fought first half will give our boys that bit more experience. And because we are facing Mayo again we don’t have to worry about complacency.

In the end it was comfortable and plain to see who were the team heading to the final and the one to division 2.
Kerry played into the stiff breeze in the first half and should have registered 1-02 inside the opening minutes when David Clifford won his tussle with his marker and looked sure to find the net only for the keeper to pull off a fine save - further opportunities were lost later before Roscommon opened the scoring with their first attack.
It was tit for tat from here to about half way through before Roscommon pulled away with some fine long range scores to lead by 0-06 to 0-03 before scores from Stephen O'Brien and Sean O'Shea left just one point between the sides; Clifford was proving most elusive, regularly winning possession and he teed up Seán O'Shea shortly after for his first senior goal when he hit a rising shot into the roof of the net - from here to half time we upped the ante with some fine scores one in particular from Dara Moynihan being the stand out.
The second half got better when wind assisted we added 1-03 without reply the goal being well worked between Clifford, O'Shea and Tommy which ended with Stephen O'Brien sidefooting to an empty night - it was good night Irene for Roscommon and Kerry had the luxury of introducing James O'Donoghue, Jason Foley, Mark Griffin and Conor Geaney.
The basis for this win was laid at midfield where the Na Gaeil pairing of Jack Barry and Diarmuid O'Connor were always in the ascendancy; Jack in particular took a much more forward role and linked up well with his forward colleagues; Diarmuid too played his part, offering assistance throughout the pitch and kicked a fine point near the end.
Defence was solid with Jack Sherwood making a welcome return and driving forward at every opportunity; Graham O'Sullivan can be well pleased with his outing as can Paul Murphy and Tom O'Sullivan; the two Crowleys were less conspicuous but Peter handled the threat of Conor Cox well and denied him a score from play.
The attack functioned more as unit with Stephen O'Brien foraging deep as well as adding 1-02 from play - probably man of the match for his all round display. He had able deputies in Seán O'Shea and Dara Moynihan with Seán adding 1-05 and being generally very busy all day.
The returning David Clifford made the journey worthwhile - his all action, full on attacking intent caused endless problems for the Rossies defenders who ultimately failed to cope with him - could have had 2 goals in the first half but the keeper and crossbar intervened - his partnership with Tommy promises much - no shortage of goal chances today albeit against a relegated side.
Tommy again showed his worth with some fine catches but it's his awareness when in possession that makes him most dangerous particularly with the likes of Clifford et al in attendance - really looking forward to this duo as the year progresses.
Kevin McCarthy was injured early and Killian Spillane was introduced but he did not make the impact he would have hoped for - James O'Donoghue looked sharp when introduced and will no doubt be champing at the bit for more action.
All in all a good day out, a league final berth garnered and a chance to claim some silverware - PK & Co will be happy tonight!

Is Conor Cox still playing with Listowel? I thought he had transferred but Listowel was down as hi club on the program?

Is Conor Cox still playing with Listowel? I thought he had transferred but Listowel was down as hi club on the program? He had to stay with Listowel in order for the transfer to go through. If he transferred to a Roscommon club he would have to play a club championship match with that club before he was eligible to play for Roscommon. GAA rules and common sense don't sit on the same page!

Some random thoughts to add Hyde Park Roscommon is a lovely venue and the pitch is great Poor enough home support Good Kerry support David Clifford makes the right decision every time. Kerry could have had 5 goals today and he had a hand in every chance Rossies conceeded too many soft short kickouts to Kerry today Kerry closed down the short kickout option by the Rossie keeper very well on many occasions Shane Ryan had a fine match in all facets of the role Graham OSullivan is huge physical presence and could hold down a place for the summer Some of the forward play today by Kerry was mesmerising Tom OSullivan covers massive ground when he springs forward in possession Jack Barry didnt appear to be detailed to a negative role and he bombed forward on several occasions Diarmaid Oconnor seemed to be enjoying the midfield role and his point at the end with the left foot was class The Kerry jersey numbers matched the programme even though twas the wrong team in the programme The bottom three teams, Cavan, Roscommon and Monaghan have the combined population of Kerry, near enough and its a great credit to those three that they were in this division. The plight of Cork is a disaster and no good to Kerry in the long run or the GAA in general. Good that Meath will be back next year. Donegal too. In conclusion, Kerry did what was asked of them and more. The hunger shown towards the end when the game was as good as over indicated that players are fighting for their places on the team and the panel.

I know little about basketball but Tralee Warriors clinched the Superleague today. They beat UCD in Dublin last night in a cliffhanger and reprised that effort today in Tralee. I am not sure why the teams had to play on consecutive days but it makes Tralee ‘s win all the more meritorious. Seemingly KD was massive in both games. I was talking on the phone today with a man who was at the game in Dublin last night. He said what KD did in that game equalled or surpassed anything he achieved with Kerry. It appears that they were several points down as the game reached a conclusion with a lot of injured players but Kieran lifted them and cajoled them and bullied them as he played in a demented fashion.
When one considers his exploits in football and basketball, would it be reasonable to suggest that he maybe Kerry’s greatest ever sporting warrior? Surely this inspirstional man will have a significant role with Kerry football at some level in the future. It would be shameful if he is allowed to slip away to another county.

Easy enough win in the end but we still gained good knowledge from it and we’re picking up some new nuggets every day I heard it on radio Kerry but just a few items we learned today open to correction from those with a better handle on it .
Looks like Graham. O Sullivan might be a good one Good corner backs rare and so hard to find Jack Barry can be creative and good going forward Goals gotta keep that habit we’ll need them Clifford as good as ever Jameso appeared sharp Jason Foley gets a start not sure how it went SOS possibly best player in league but Tom O Sullivan Not far behind invaluable scoring defender for us but Needs to hone is goal scoring shots my favorite Kerry Player could play him in literally any position Has the X factor what a find ! Another massive learning game v Mayo upahead Brilliant league for us
Question How did Diarmuid o Connor do today did not hear him mentioned too much on RK ? But hoping to hear from those who were there

Question How did Diarmuid o Connor do today did not hear him mentioned too much on RK ? But hoping to hear from those who were there How do you judge a midfielder when 80% of kickouts go 20 metres? In general play I though Diarmaid OConnor worked very hard and he seems to have the engine for the role. He will grow into a fine midfielder in my opinion and can kick a point. I think midfield is his best position.

Good workout for Kerry going into a league final. Roscommon kicked a few great points with the aid of the strong breeze early in the first half to flatter them a little on scoreboard and in the contest. DC could have goaled after 20 seconds which would probably have set the trend of the game which emerged after SOS goaled. SOB's goal in the second half pretty much killed off the game as a contest. Kerry have become dominant however midway through the first half before their first goal and were getting very much on top.
Plenty for Kerry to be happy with, Graham O'Sullivan doing very well in his fist start, Diarmuid O'Connor had plenty of moments at midfield while JOD looked ravenous for football when he came in. Shane Ryan's kickouts were generally accurate against a team pretty much standing off the restart. Hopefully he gets the nod for the league final. SOB must have covered the distance of a marathon runner regularly turning up on both the Kerry fullback line and fullforward lines and everywhere in between. Some level of fitness. PK have Kerry in good place pitched for summer time. Looking forward to the league final on Sunday.

Was at the game yesterday..while we didn't hit top gear it was great to come away with a 10 point winning margin..just one thing to note though, our tackling or lack of tackling still has a long way to go..the amount of times we fouled the opposition when they ran at us is still worrying..donie still has a lot to do before we hit championship so here's hoping..great to be back in croke park though
