Hi,
Just wondering where the final will be this year? I think it's meant to be in pairc ui chaoimh but that might not be up to it now, where else would it be held if not there? I see the Munster GAA website has "Venue TBC @ 7pm".

Depends on who makes it to the final.

I see the Munster GAA website has "Venue TBC @ 7pm". Well assuming that it is a Cork-Kerry clash (big assumption at this point) the below link might help. Remedial works to be carried out in next while but no replacement until after Munster championships are concluded. Based on their league standing I certainly wouldn't be planning a trip to Cork. www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/sport/gaa/tracey-kennedy-pairc-ui-chaoimh-pitch-to-be-replaced-907099.html"A full pitch replacement will take place after the conclusion of the Munster senior hurling and football championships,” Kennedy told the Irish Examiner last night."

I was told by someone in the know last week that the problem is with the chemistry of the sub-soil. You can lay a new pitch but if the chemistry underneath is not correct the carpet of grass will not knit. Light is also an issue and they dont have the same lighting rigs that Croke park have on the pitch to promote growth. Croke Park have 5 of them I am told. They cost €90k each. Remember Croke Park had problems when the pitch was laid first.

Is Croke Park not an ice rink in the wet anymore or have they sorted that out?

It looks like the only home game we will have in the entire Championship is a game in the Super 8's.
With regards to Croke Park, when a ball is bounced on the surface it can spin forward in a very irregular fashion. I presume that this is a consequence of relaying the sod so often. Players get caught out and unexpectedly and unfairly which can result in a turnover. Our main stadium should be better than that.

Cork relegated today is pretty sad the losers of clare and tipp will join them( unless clare beat meath). Who cares where the munster final will be held in all honesty?
Edit.. if cork and clare end up on 5 points cork win on head to head. Thats there only chance

Doubtful it'll be in Killarney that's for sure. As far as I know we still owe Cork a game or two from the time Páirc Uí Chaoimh was being rebuilt and I think if we were due to play Limerick or Tipp in one by chance, the game would be played in Limerick/Thurles as we hosted finals against them in Killarney in 2010 (v Limerick) & vs Tipp in 2016.
