On the evidence of what we've seen this year, I thought Kerry a far superior footballing team going into this game and I still think Kerry a better footballing side and a more talented side to Galway but they literally kicked it away. Moreover, I think Galway were beaten at least 3 times but definitely twice this year and while they have some excellent individuals they are far from world-beaters. This was Kerry’s poorest performance of the year and still they had enough chances to win this game with a degree of comfort. One could see the confidence drain out of the Kerry forwards with each miss and they were passing responsibility at an alarming rate as they sought to get the ball to an injury hampered Dylan Geaney.
There’s no real rhyme or reason to under 17 and it’s hard to make conclusive judgements but if Cork play up to form they should win the final well and Kerry will be left wondering, such is sport. We’ve had a great run and it would be easier to accept if we were beaten by a far more talented team but when you conspire to beat yourself it’s a frustrating way to give up the crown.
Hard luck to Kerry for this year but good luck to Galway and Cork in the final.

I never thought there was a cohesive flow to Kerry’s play this year. Amazing forwards but there was always question marks over how they would be under pressure. Have to question the management and in particular his selection of so many players from his own divisional team. Roll on next year. Can switch attention to minor championship

It's a real sickener knowing that Cork are probably going to win the AI and we've already beaten them twice in the competition.
A real off-day yesterday. Don't think this Kerry side was any great shakes but neither was anyone else by the looks of it. Definately a game and a title left behind.

It was a cruel way to finish t campaign, must say considering all t sacrifice these young lads put in we are expecting too much from them and not supporting clubs and districts by playing county championship this evening , surely a weeks break is in order

Very poor performance . Bench was weak bar Linehan. Surely we have better lads in county. Keeper only one to impress. Cork would hammer them in final Cork had two chances to hammer kerry all ready so what makes so sure they would have hammered kerry in the final ?

Minors playing in County Championship quarter finals tonight, two days after the county played in an All-Ireland semi final. I see the U21 play County Championship on Thursday night. Can minors play U21?
Anyway, results from tonight's minor quarter-finals:
Austin Stacks 2-11 West Kerry 0-10 East Kerry 2-19 Mid Kerry 2-8
St. Brendan's 2-11 Kenmare District 0-8 Rathmore 2-15 Laune Rangers 3-11 after extra time.

Lots of comments about Dublin and the GAA set-up, but there is no way that Dublin CCC would fix minor county championship games so close to an All Ireland game. How can you expect players to concentrate on a Sunday knowing that they have county championship games 2 days later. Get the Kerry county board to cop on and treat their players with a little respect. What was the hurry in fixing these games?

Because the co board want it played before they head to college which is understandable - maybe they should have a provision in place that if Kerry lost the quarter finals would be played the weekend. Either way what’s done is done. Big win by Rathmore against a fancied Laune Rangers side and equally by Stacks against West Kerry Think it will be a Brendan’s East Kerry final should they avoid each other in the semi finals

Agreed I have not read earlier posts but I couldn’t help noticing how we seemed to have designated shooters and all six forwards could not score freely the greed factor may be too strong a word here but it looked like the last pass often didn’t happen and that s they way they seemed to want to play there was so frequently one more pass to give but if the shooter had it then the pass never happened . The snap shot or wrong option was taken I found it hard to watch honestly the man in the best spot didn’t always get the ball . But we’ve a great team good enough to win it out no doubt The production line continues great work to all involved

East Kerry beat St Brendan’s in the minor championship final tonight.
That’s a lot of titles in recent years for them.

Super minor final.
Michael oNeill of Cork scored 6 points, three from play and is from the Eddie Walsh of Knocknagosel clan. Grandson i think.

I enjoyed the minor game but I found the amount of handpassing very dispiriting. It's like they were coached in the possession game 110%. Hand pass, hand pass, safety first.
When the Galway lad cut loose and scored the goal, both teams threw off the shackles and played natural instinctive Football. Cork went for goal and it paid off, both in normal and in extra time.

Seeing as the minor year has come to an end in the previous years we have had quite a few “minor all stars” do we think we will have any all star this year maybe young Geaney. Team will be made up of a lot of cork and Galway. Player of the year will more than likely go to young Conor Corbett of cork he was excellent Sunday and really improved as the year went on. Our minors will be kicking themselves having beaten cork twice this year and they have gone on to win the AI and deservedly so as they probably were the best and most consistent minor team this year.

Corbett is a classy player. Reminds me of Daniel Goulding a bit.
I think Devon Burns has a shot for keeper. Alan Dineen possibly. Sean O’Brien had a good year . Jack O’Connor and Dylan Geaney . Can’t see past that .

I see Devon Burns and Dylan Geaney are selected to the Minor Football Team of the Year.
Congratulations to both.

Since our run of winning Minor All Irelands in a row is over what is your team of the 5 in a row? Don't include the likes of Dylan Geaney who was on the 2018 winning team but was still underage for 2019. I have based my team more on how good the players have become after minor level but I have based it more on minor level for the 2018 winning side and to a much lesser extent the 2017 side. Here is my team:
1. Shane Ryan 2. Jason Foley 3. Stefan Okunbor 4. Tom O'Sullivan 5. Gavin White 6. Graham O'Sullivan 7. Brian O'Beaglaoich 8. Mark O'Connor 9. Paul O'Shea 10. Diarmuid O'Connor 11. Sean O'Shea 12. Dara Moynihan 13. Killian Spillane 14. David Clifford 15. Donal O'Sullivan
Daniel O'Brien, Michael Burns, Darragh Rahilly and David Shaw were unlucky to miss out.

This shows the level of talent that has come through over the last few years. Still think that Okunbor and O'Connor are such a huge loss to Kerry as they were exactly what we were crying out for. Big strapping lads to man central positions that had huge mobility. We haven't had a huge amount of those type of players coming through. Still leaving out Liam Kearney, Tomas O'Se, Cormac Coffey, Robert Wharton, Michael Potts etc who have all feataured at senior level/panel Just need more strapping lads for central defensive positions but hopefully we might have Daniel O'Brien playing centre back for the league next year to see what he can do and we can leave Morley full back then. Are there any other players that people think might push on and make the breakthrough this year?

Are there any other players that people think might push on and make the breakthrough this year? Daniel O'Brien is an excellent player when fit but I'm not sure he'll get a chance next year as he is so injury prone. There's not much point trying to blood a fella that you know has a very high chance of getting injured again. It's an awful pity. I was very disappointed when I found he was injured so he couldn't play for East Kerry in the county championship. From the winning minor teams I think Graham O'Sullivan and especially Diarmuid O'Connor will push on after having roles this year. I think one of Liam Kearney, Rob O'Sé or John Mark Foley could be given a chance at midfield. Barry Mahony could be given a chance at wing forward or maybe even wing back. Tomás O'Sé could be looked at for the super sub role again. Players not from the winning minor teams that I think could be looked at are Paudie Clifford, Eanna O'Conchuir and Tony Brosnan. Gavin O’Brien will also surely be given more game time in the league.
