The ultimate irony surely is that Paul Murphy would increase his chances of captaining Kerry if he scored a few own goals in the relegation playoff as East Kerry would be a lot stronger with Rathmore to choose from.

He could captain Kerry and surely have an intermediate all Ireland medal in his back pocket this time next year. I think either way whoever goes down should probably come straight back up to senior next year and could very easily have a day out in croke park next year also

I don’t really get the point you are trying to make here- they lost 2 out of 3- there’s no get a bye from relegation because you beat Crokes clause My point, which i thought was clear enough, was that there should be more than 8 clubs in the senior grade. I would say all 8 including Rathmore and Kilcummin are clearly better than intermediate standard. If Crokes had lost to Rahilly's, which would not have been a major surprise, they would have been in the relegation playoff. Would that not strike you as a bit odd? Surely we could have at least 12 if not 16 clubs for a senior club competition in this county. I dont think there should be more than 8 senior clubs- when there was we saw some serious hammerings. You keep on saying that situations are/may have been odd but the nature of any competition is that if you dont win games- you are not successful. If Aidan O Mahoney hadnt gotten himself sent off against KOR and Rathmore had won that game- then they wouldnt be in this situation so maybe apportion blame there. I think the championship is going well and is extremely competitive with nearly any team in with a chance of going down- what you see as a weakness I would very much deem a stregth

Predictions for Sunday's final? Crokes seem to be struggling a little after the long 2018 campaign. Throw in the Crokes retirements and a couple of injuries and I think Stacks who seem to be on the rise could well take them next Sunday. I have heard it argued that Stacks had an easier group - will be an interesting game.

Has Colm Cooper retired from club football? Heard yesterday he went on holidays after the All Ireland final and hasn’t played since but he will be togging out this weekend for the crokes and hasn’t intentions of retiring just yet.

The championship field might be more open in Kerry in September now? Or maybe Crokes will recuperate during the summer!

was anyone at this game. Bit of a surprize result! Crokes were good in the first half but ran out of steam in the second - in fact Crokes were opening up the Stacks defence and took points when goals seemed on a few times in the first half could have and should have been well ahead by half time. Stacks went at them in the second half and Crokes had no answer to the Stacks youth and energy. Having seen a lot of Crokes in April I think they are suffering from a long 2018 - they were like a veteran boxer on the ropes fighting instinctively - two losses, a 1 point win against Legion (which Legion should have won) and a four point win against a depleted Rahillys (started without their 3 inter county players) tells its own story and it makes the Championship all the more interesting.

The legs & a bit of age is telling on a few of the Crokes lads but in fairness they’ve been on the go for a long while now. The other factor & this is no disrespect to the guys in there, is the loss of Pat O Shea from the Crokes sideline. With a bit of rest & gavin White back they’ll still be a force to be reckoned with in the Chp. I still think Rahillys are a serious challenge if they get firing on all cylinders for a few weeks at the right time.

Stacks also have a nucleus of fast, hungry, strong players like Jack O'Shea, Ronan Shanahan, Jack Morgan, Joe O'Connor, Greg Horan, Sean Quilter and are starting to see the fruits of very strong underage work/success.

Credit where it's due- they have been superb at underage level for a good few years now. Most of the housing development in Tralee has gone on out their way but they have really utilised that extra talent - there was a stage not so long ago when they seemed to be winning the Feile every year.

They are going to take over from Crokes in Kerry I think. They are strong from u12 to minor again this year and all these good young fellas over the last 3 or 4 years are starting to make it through to seniors now.
Could definitely see them winning the County Championship this year and they should be around for the next few years.
Crokes have no complaints. They had a good run . Won an All Ireland. Made it to another. Won Munster and County titles.
They’ll still probably give it a rattle but teams like Stacks and Rahillys can beat them and they know it. You need to have a fierce hunger and drive every year to keep winning every year and Stacks and Rahillys have that this year. I wouldn’t rule out Legion giving it s good go also.

KOR backs just aren't good enough imo - agree on Stacks being the team to take over from Crokes due to all their underage success

KOR backs just aren't good enough imo - agree on Stacks being the team to take over from Crokes due to all their underage success Rahillys problem is more about team work than the backs - they play as individuals too much and not enough as a team. Sum of their parts should be greater than the individuals and this is not always the case with some players taking too much out of the ball rather than moving the ball. Tralee is an open area where clubs (4) can "fish" in the entire catchment area - its down to clubs to be organised and active to build their juvenile sections and Stacks and Na Gael have been particularly effective in the recent years. There is some locality loyalty but it is not exclusive. Stacks challenge (as with most clubs) will to retain the good juveniles and still have them playing when they are working full time.

If Stacks don’t win it this year they’ll surely win it in the next 2 or 3 years and I expect Donaghy to be there. He has a good young crop of players around him now to finish off his career on a high. Inconsistency has killed them to a degree but with a lot of young talent coming up now that should change.
I agree on O’Rahillys defense it has killed them . They have a good Midfield and good Forwards to challenge teams and they have gotten the better of Stacks in some recent games. On the day anything can happen an all Tralee final would be an interesting affair. Legion and Dingle could push teams. On the Divisional side of it probably East Kerry and maybe Mid Kerry.

Who is training Dr crokes now? Normally go internally right, has he trained/coached before, any silverware? Big shoes to fill. Pat O Shea is a top class football coach. Seems to be a hangover from 2018 alright, but so much talent there its a case of pick a team for now but come championship you will see if the coaching is still of a high standard to continue to compete for the top prizes.
