Any reports from today’s games? Anyone know how mitchels got on was it a good performance or were Desmond’s poor? I went to the Desmond’s v John mitchels game this evening.. first off all I taught €8 at the gate was abit steap... it was abit of both, mitchels had a stronger side on paper with the likes of Alan o Donahue, Niall sheehy, James duggan, Sean Moloney and shane O Conner. Desmond’s were poor and there service into Thomas hickey was dreadful ( mostly down to mitchels defense set up ) mitchels got numbers behind the ball and broke at pace when they turned over possession, which seemed to work really well for them as they opened up Desmond’s at there ease in the first half. Goals from Shane o Connor and Wayne duggan had mitchels leading by 7 points at half time. To be fair to Desmond’s they never gave up but there lack of firepower up front really didn’t help them. Can’t see there being any problem for glenflesk next week v Desmond’s. Mitchels and Beaufort on the other hand should be a good game. Too good sides that play a good style of football, both teams have a good chance of collecting 2 points there but mitchels having home advantage you would have to fancy them.

Thanks for that gooner 👍 mitchels might fancy their chances of getting out of the group that’s if they pick up two points next weekend. The group will be very tight if mitchels do win as glenflesk Beaufort and mitchels would be of similar standard. With glenflesk winning by just 2 points this evening suggests mitchels have a tough remaining two games but with the game next week being at home they would definitely fancy themselves to go into the last round with all 4 points and it could come down to winner takes all in the final game

St Marys and Dromid finished level after a fairly lacklustre game back in Portmagee. Both teams look different from last years sk final and there are a good few retired/inured/left the country between the two squads. Marys were 4 up after most the first half, Dromid kicking wide after wide in the opening 25 minutes (8 in total). Sheehan had a penalty superbly saved by Donal o sullivan and it seemed to affect him as he missed a free and a 45 after that you would have banked on him converting. Dromid got 2 late points to go in 2 down at the break.
It was tit for tat in the second half as Dromid went up a point before Peter Lyons blew for a second penalty for the Marys from about 50 yards away. It was a massive call and how he spotted it from there il never know. The players in the backline seemed just as confused but Sheehan stuck it away to put St Marys 2 up with about 10 remaining. From there Dromid levelled up, both teams had chances to win it but a draw was about fair, you often hear people say that nobody deserved to lose. In this case it was more like nobody deserved to win. With a few mins to go, tempers boiled over in front of the stand and there were at least 2 that should have saw the line from my vantage point but it seemed to pass over quickly.
Early days but I dont think either of these teams are where they want to be. Dromids shooting was shocking and they must have had the guts of 13 or 14 wides, despite all that it was a far better performance from last years sk final. Marys were more clinical but still ever reliant on Bryan Sheehan and Denis Daly around the middle. Not a massive crowd and it was chilly enough back in Portmagee,
Not sure what a draw means for the next round fixtures but I think Waterville may fancy their chances against either of these

Big shock in Mitchell's today with Beaufort bowing out. Didn't see that coming Massive win for the Tralee side today. Very good performance all round which lines up a winner takes all decider next weekend away to glenflesk who are also a very good young side. Although they are away from home I would still fancy mitchels to go through. As we have seen before momentum is a huge thing for this Tralee side. If mitchels win next weekend they will fancy themselves to go all the way in this years competition and personally I don’t see why they shouldn’t. They have recruited there old foe Oliver coffey this year as a trainer and he looks to have had a big influence on the sides performances. A clear example of the impact he can have on a team is for all to see in Churchill’s run in the junior championship last year and gaining promotion. Although he didn’t stick out the whole year the foundations he put in place in the early months really stood to that Churchill side the back end of last year. All roads lead to glenflesk next weekend and here’s hoping mitchels can pull off a massive win and progress in this years championship but they will be up against all odds as glenflesk would be some people’s favourites to go on and win the whole thing. Best of luck to both teams and hopefully we will get a cracking game of football and by the looks of their scoring records in the past 2 weekends I have no doubt it will be a great game.

Fair play to desmonds for fronting up today after last week's performance. They put it up to glenflesk who will surely rue Cian Horans red card. There was a m marked improvement in desmonds display and can use it as a springboard for next week.

I was at mitchels game yesterday. They were far stronger then Beaufort all over the field.
Played some great football and were tenacious when not in possession. If they keep these performances up can see them going a long way in this championship.
Young Mikey Kelliher was very good along with Shane O Connor but to be fair it was a team performance more then any individual.

There was a m marked improvement in desmonds display and can use it as a springboard for next week. I was at the Desmonds game yesterday and they were shocking - bar fine performances from Adam Donoghue, Cian Mangan, and Sean Lynch. An 8 point defeat to a Glenflesk side without Daniel O'Brien is nothing to be lauded.

Did you attend the mitchels game? Who stood out for the tralee side? Yeah I was at the game yesterday to be honest mitchels were full value for their victory and it really was a brilliant team performance shane o Connor done well for the Tralee side and on his day he is a real force around the middle of the field. Young Michael Kelleher was outstanding yesterday and really made a difference kicking 6 points. It will be very hard for them to leave him out next weekend but the threat and impact he gives off the bench is a serious weapon for the Tralee side. Their defending yesterday was brilliant and it was great to see such tenacity in their tackling which reminded me of mitchels of old. They are not the biggest of teams but they bring such physicalality to the game it’s brilliant to see. You could see yesterday that they had a lot of ground work done. Looking at their first two performances and if they win next weekend I certainly wouldn’t write them off to go on and win the whole thing They will be up against it next weekend being away from home but I believe they have more than enough to compete and come away with a win. I saw that dan o brien lined out at midfield yesterday for glenflesk he might be given the task to limit Shane o Connors influence on next weeks proceedings. Mitchels backs will need to be on top form next weekend again to come away with a victory and if they can stop Dara Roche they will increase their chances of winning by a big margin... I see next weeks game coming down to the performance of mitchels forwards. If they click and play well together yet again I think they could wrack up a big scoreline. And with the likes of Alan o donoghue James Duggan Niall Sheehy and of course young Michael kelleher all playing well at the moment I think they might have a bit too much going forward for the Killarney side and predict maybe a 5 point victory for mitchels It is sure to be the game of the weekend in the intermediate championship with so much writing on it. This could turn out to be a tense affair which will probably suit mitchels but all in all I’m hoping for a great game of quality free flowing football with plenty of scores and hopefully a mitchels win

Templenoe 3-12, Spa 1-16. Fr Breen Park Kenmare was the venue for this eagerly awaited clash between the top two ranked teams in the group. The match was played before a large crowd on a fine afternoon for football last Sunday and the game did not disappoint with only two points separating the sides in the end, after a high scoring contest. Spa who lined out minus the services of inter county player Dara Moynihan due to injury, had the better of exchanges in the first quarter. The Killarney side were dominating around the middle of the field and were using their wind advantage well. Three pointed frees from Michael O’Donoghue along with a point from play Evan Cronin put Spa ahead by 0-4 to 0-2 after 13 minutes, with the Templenoe scores coming from Adrian Spillane and Teddy Doyle (free). Then a great three minutes spell from Spa saw them strike 1-2 without reply. The Spa goal came via a route one ball into the square that was palmed into the net by Andrew Garnett after he rose above the Templenoe defence. Niall McCarthy and David Spillane got points either side of the goal to extend the Spa lead to seven points. However, Templenoe did rally late in the half and goal from Adrian Spillane after good work by Brian Crowley brought them right back into the game. The goal was preceded by an exchange of scores from Stephen O’Sullivan and Evan Cronin and then just before the interval Brian Crowley saw his goal-bound effort cancelled out by Dan O’Donoghue to maintain the East Kerry’s side’s four points advantage. Half Time Score: Templenoe 1-4, Spa 1-8. Templenoe hit the ground running in the second half with four unanswered points all coming from the boot of Killian Spillane levelling the scores just three minutes into the second half. Then came the Templenoe goal that put them in front for the first time to give Templenoe a lead they would not relinquish. The goal stemmed from a high ball into the full forward line that Killian Spillane broke down to Stephen O’Sullivan who dispatched his shot beautifully to the net. The same player went on to increase Templenoe’s lead to four points, to which Spa replied with Niall McCarthy clipping his effort over the bar. Although Killian Spillane did land over another free for Templenoe, Spa upped their game again to hit three points without reply, with Liam Kearney, Evan Cronin and Michael O’Donoghue all finding the range to put just the minimum between the sides. Soon after Killian Spillane traded frees with Michael O’Donoghue, before a perfect ball in from Gavin Crowley ended with Cian Hallissey getting in for Templenoe’s third goal to put them 3-11 to 1-13 ahead with just six minutes of normal time remaining. Templenoe followed this up with a placed ball effort from Teddy Doyle that sailed all the ways over the bar from over 45 yards out. In the remaining minutes Spa threw everything at Templenoe and three pointed frees in a row from Michael O’Donoghue reduced the deficit to three points to set up a grand stand finish. Then three minutes into injury time Spa wing forward Ryan O’Carroll looked to be through on goal, but this finish went right of the posts. In end Templenoe despite losing Cian Hallissey late on to a second yellow card, held on for a crucial win. Final Score: Templenoe 3-12, Spa 1-16. Scorers: Templenoe: Killian Spillane 0-6 (0-4f), Stephen O’Sullivan 1-2 (0-1f), Adrian Spillane 1-1, Cian Hallissey 1-0, Teddy Doyle 0-2 (0-2f), Brian Crowley 0-1. Spa: Michael O’Donoghue 0-8 (0-8f), Evan Cronin 0-3, Andrew Garnett 1-0, Niall McCarthy 0-1, Ryan O’Carroll 0-1, David Spillane 0-1, Dan O’Donoghue 0-1, Liam Kearney 0-1. Teams: Templenoe: Danny Cahalane, Michael Hallissey, Kieran O’Neill, Joseph Sheehan, Gavin Crowley, Tadgh Morley John Spillane, Sean Sheehan, Adrian Spillane, Teddy Doyle, Brian Crowley, Josh Crowley Holland, Stephen O’Sullivan, Killian Spillane Cian Hallissey. Subs: Kieran McCarthy, Pat Spillane. Spa: David Carroll, Eoin Fitzgerald, Dan O’Donoghue, Bryan Russell, Shane Cronin, Niall O’Mahony, Eoghan Cronin, Liam Kearney, Michael McCarthy, Ryan O’Carroll, Michael O’Donoghue, David Spillane, Niall McCarthy, Andrew Garnett, Evan Cronin. Subs: Ciaran Spillane. www.templenoegaa.ie/index.php/match-reports/1055-kerry-county-intermediate-football-championship-templenoe-v-spa

Next weekend predictions Templenoe by a big margin Glenbeigh Waterville Currow Brosna Ardfert Beaufort Glenflesk be too strong for Mitchell's at home in the big game. Could see Glenflesk putting up a good score. Lee and Jeff Donoghue the two Roches won't be held. Dan o brien to run the show. Some result in Killorglin tonight - not that Templenoe won but the margin of the win against the home side. Rangers are a pale shadow of their former selves - some of the players who retired over last few years like John Sheehan Mike Frank Liam Hassett Tony Lyons Kieran Crowley have not been replaced with anything like their quality - Rangers were competitive in the co championship up to 4/5 years ago. They need to fast track in a lot of the under age talent coming through as quickly as possible - dare you say it but a rebuilding job in Prem Junior might be the order of the day for the men from the Laune

for a place the size of templenoe to have a better team than a lot of towns in Kerry is significant. great work done in templenoe, not taking from it but a few of the towns in Kerry boxing well below where you expect them to be at
