Group winners Mary’s Templenoe Ghaeltacht Glenflesk Relegation fight Waterville Laune Rangers Miltown/castlemaine/Brosna Desmond’s/Mitchels Group D is certainly the most competitive with the possibility of any team winning it I’ve gone for glenflesk over Beaufort just about though... the other 3 winners should be fairly certain. A few questionable ones for the relegation but I think mitchels are going to struggle in that group and I wouldn’t be surprised if there fighting for their intermediate status come the end of it if I was forced to pick a team from that group though I’d pick Desmond’s to go... although I think mitchels may struggle I think there game with Desmond’s will be crucial for them to at least stay up and as we have seen from the town club in the past they can come alive in the championship and if they get a bit of momentum going I wouldn’t be shocked if they even won the group that’s how unpredictable group D is.... Picking an outright winner at the moment I would go for templenoe... if glenflesk make it out of their group though I would fancy them to give it a right shot at going all the way

Still going to be dead rubbers My understanding is that the winners of R1 play each other in R2 which would more or less rule out dead rubbers in R3.

One dead rubber in championship is one too many especially where money can be won There can be no dead rubbers with the new order of fixtures. The top and bottom positions in each group will be up for grabs in round 3.

Im afraid there were a fair few dead rubbers last year (across all grades), some teams knew they couldnt go up or down because of the head to head decision in the event of teams ending up on the same points. I think its a very flawed format

With just two rounds of the county league to be played before the championship, teams will really need to hit to ground running to be in with a shout of winning the group.
I would wait until after the county league games and after seeing which Kerry players are 'injured' before making any predictions for these competitions.

The same with the 2 losers from round 1. This means that all 4 teams will have something to play for in round 3. I think it's a very good format giving each team at least 3 competitive fixtures in a month. Much better that the straight knockout format.

Great to see that room for improvement was identified and acted upon.

Thanks, I was not aware of that, that seems a much better system alright. Should keep things competitive to the end

Great to see that room for improvement was identified and acted upon. In fairness to the Kerry County Board, they have never been afraid take on ideas and make changes.
