With Na gaeil having had so many opportunities of winning this they will surely be expecting to go all the way this year, by the looks of it I wouldn’t fancy any team at this level to beat them.

Some good teams in this. I think Ballyfoilmore are making progress and will be a better outfit this year. Senans are decent too. How are Gneeveguilla faring? Hard to look past Na Gaeil all the same, but it doesnt always work like that. Firies never seemed to build on their great run 2 years ago

Very strong win for na gaeil today.... they are probably a bit too strong for this grade this year and should win it out relatively comfortably. Being the top ranked side in this grade and having the two inter county midfielders for the league anchoring the side I think it will be very tough to bet against them.. they will be kicking themselves if they don’t win it this year having came so close in previous years and probably think they deserved to win it last year...
But championship is championship at the end of the day and anything can happen maybe there is a shock further down the pipeline remains to be seen. Hopefully an exciting championship ahead with a high standard of football being played throughout

Rounds 2 and 3 must be completed over the next two weekends (Sunday 14 and 21 April) as the semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of April 28, with finals on the following weekend, May 5.
I'm sure the dates and venues for Rd 2 will be confirmed early in the week.

FT Emmets 3-16 Lispole 1-6 HT Emmets 2-10 Lispole 1-2
Pointless attempting a report on this one. One-sided from the off. Lispole looked like they might have had to scrape a side together. Emmets going well at the moment but not a game that will have done either side any good.

St Pat's and Bally Foilmore drew today. David O Callaghan is still a very good player. who should have won It literally was a very even match. The visitors played with the aid of the breeze in the first half. Pats played some lovely ball for the first 10 minutes of second half with the wind but let St Michael's back in. They nearly stole it near the end with a well taken opportunistic goal. Mark Griffin played OK. Nothing outstanding. Pat's have a nice blend of young lads and some more experienced elder statesmen. Matthew O Sullivan from St Michael's is huge.

Lads anyone at the senans fossa game? By all accounts, Barry Mahony for senans was outstanding? Is it not worth giving him a go with the seniors?at least have him in the panel?

Mark Griffin played OK. Nothing outstanding. Pat's have a nice blend of young lads and some more experienced elder statesmen. Matthew O Sullivan from St Michael's is huge. It depends. I think Pats will feel it was points dropped. However they would happily have taken the draw with 2 mins left as they trailed by a point and Foilmore had been denied a goal by Paudi Baily in the Pats goal. The wind was a big factor in this game blowing diagonally toward the dressing room end. Foilmore got a dream start when James Moran collected the ball around the 40' and sent a garryowen with the wind toward the Pats goal. A real hit and hope, it ended up being fisted to the net much like the Mayo goal of two weeks ago. Awful start for the home team. From there however it was an even half, with Pats gradually getting on top. HT 1-06 to 0-08 in favour of the South Kerry men. Pats got a very well worked goal at the start of the 2nd half, finished off by Luke Mulligan I think from no. 11. They should have kicked on from this and dominated the next 15 mins, with O'callaghan and Mulligan in particular to the fore, but kicked some poor wides- again the wind helped neither team but Pats will rue those missed chances. As Sully says, Foilmore refused to die and came more into the game. Griffin had his best period here but he was ably assisted by their no. 10 Kevin Cronin and 11 Matthew O'Sullivan. A good game played in a good spirit by both sides. Senans will be a very tough nut to crack for Pats next week. All to play for as Fossa seem (strangely) completely out of their depth. Foilmore should prevail here, based on what I've seen.

A year of intercounty hurling would have been a good bootcamp to harden a fella up. He has that under his belt.
