Nice to have 6 points from 6. Nice also to not be talking about our FB being exposed.
Nice also to think that a favourite of mine might be given his head for a change.
That monster being Mark Griffin. 😀😀

Great to win even though we made hard work of it in the end Kudoos to all involved. Gavin in one way got exactly what he wanted deep down he got the motivation going among his players and going for 5 in a row thats the hardest part surely. Our Late point at the end was so satisfying for us in that we played too defensive possibly from the 60 minute onwards and it cost us but we showed that we can change gears and go forward too thanks to the experience of Peter Crowley who made the great double run and showed patience to wait for the pass from David
There are so may improvements that we can learn from in this game and im sure our diligent management will tend to all those Two that stand out for me 1. We are not getting no where near enough from our midfield I understand that they worked hard fair play to both but not enough football and go ahead ball or scoring threat form these.
2 . We all love David Moran but why does he run to take all the frees and the side line ball !!! Thats something like a U12 wanna be free taker would do its infuriating. For a sideline ball would it not make sense to have a designated kicker for the area where it went out wing back or wing forward would David be better at the Recieving end of the inbound ball wouldnt he draw two defenders if nothing else .
Knockout stages beckon Galway , Mayo and Monaghan up ahead not getting any easier great learning opportunity what a good competition this is !!!!

Only February it’s true but it's all about context! Alright there was no Cluxton, or Kilkenny, but Dublin still came with a lot of big name experienced players this evening and they came wanting to maintain subjugation of the Kingdom but they ended up in a footballing war against a largely young and new Kerry side who refused to take a step backwards and for most of this match set the rules of engagement.
I'm incredibly proud of the Kerry performance tonight and when you think of the players still to come back in, one can only be hopeful for the future. Just 3 games in and we already see a method and system of play developing, not to mention a defensive structure being out in place. Peter Keane and his management team have my total confidence and we're on the right road. Enjoy this new journey folks and come on the Kingdom!!

Fitzsimons first yellow was a joke. Dont think it was a free even. And if the game was in Croker Con would probably have got a penalty. Playing at home matters. Nothing new in that.

That last point that Kerry scored was one of the most important and significant scores that has been scored in a long time. In order to get the win the team mentality totally disregarded the status of the opposition, as well as any tactical steps to break down the opposition and flicked the ball around as creative Kerry players do and took the score. For me a corner had been turned.
Having watched the rugby earlier and heard that great Scotish anthem I think "We sent them home to think again".

Was anyone else frustrated that the Dublin panel didn't match the programme. I don't mind late changes in league games but con o Callaghan and mcmanamen played tonight despite not being listed in the match programme. It's not helped that it's very hard to hear the match announcements on the terrace opposite the stand.

Very impressive tonight. I know much is being made of Donie Buckleys return and his stamp on the team but our manager is a very clever with the backroom team he put around him not to mention his own prowess which is undeniable.Dont think people fully appreciate how good a manager he will be and I've no doubt by the time his term is up we will be back at the top table.

It’s all about context league v championship etc, but this was really good. There were so many positives and things to work on. I loved young players driving forward looking and very comfortable on the ball, no hopping just the solo. Last year these guys would not have gotten the chance or been developed to this extent, There were big mistakes at times, they should have won this game well, I’d say by 5 or 6 points, the goals conceded were week, the last 10 minutes were not great but the promise shown was huge. I thought Tommy did well, what an option, he looked immense. The skirmish at the end, well this Kerry team are not to be bullied! As one other contributor said ‘we sent them home to think again’ We can only get better, not sure Dublin can, game on,

I was proud tonight to be associated with that performance. What was especially heartening was the way Kerry responded to the Dublin goals, which were sucker punches really and would have deflated most teams. On both occasions our lads took the game to Dublin again and racked up the next few scores in a show of defiance. And of course, the response to Dublin's equalizer - a panicky defence of a draw at that stage could have been forgiven, but the lads had the balls to go for a late winner, and the composure to manufacture it.

The fetch by Gavin oBrien from Shane Ryans long kickout in the first half was a call to arms. He drove on and a point ensued. He scored a fine point too and was immense in that first half.
He was unreal for KOR v St Brendans in the county championship game.
I fear that Paul Geaneys back is at him. He didnt seem to be able to field above him head at one stage v Cavan and tonight he didnt seem to be able to bend his back at ease. I am just surmising but he doesnt look right to me.
Sherwood looks a man reborn too.
Good calls by PK on Gavin oBrien and Jack Sherwood.

I was due to travel today but stuck at home with the flue. Like most I would have been very happy if we had lost, but showed promise. Instead we showed real intent and hunger. Considering this is winter/spring football and conditions weren't great this was a real statement of intent. Dublin are missing a few players, but the core of the team that will play the championship for them were there. The others have played O'Byrne cup football as well. Dublin have now lost the O'Byrne cup final, two league games and the first 20 minutes against Galway they struggled. It goes to show that no team in unbeatable and as they start aging the younger generation seem to be good players, but not of the calibre of Dublin's golden generation. That said, it's february and nothing is won or lost yet. It is promising to see a young Kerry team, with Gavin O'Brien making his first start and excelling, doing so well. Looking at the players Dublin brought on versus what was available for Kerry....it was important for us to win. In other years we would have panicked when Dublin throw the kitchen sink at us, but even when they drew level you could sense the young guns just didn't believe they would lose the match. I'm really hoping it is a sense of things to come and with kevin Ma's huge showing today the trip to salthill will be a very important one. One more win and we are almost sure of a final, assuming we will do well in the other two home games. The game v Roscommon might become deciding in making the final or not. Will Conor Cox play in that?

Arrived home frozen but happy. The most impressive aspect of that win was the speed and dash shown by so many of our players in attack and defence.
Darragh Moynihan was fantastic for such a young player. Gavin O'Brien I haven't seen a lot of but he really seems to have the ability after this evening.
The lanky midfielder Gavin for Dublin is a star in the making too. We'll have a second Brian Fenton to contend with yet I fear.
A most satisfactory evening marred somewhat by a couple of things. The continuing nonsense of naming dummy teams and players not on the programme continues. This is utterly pointless and hugely disrespectful to punters. Also the needless melee at the end left a nasty aftertaste.
Despite the above I have to say how wonderful it would be to witness a series of games of this standard and intensity weekend after weekend over the summer. The Championship is a busted flush at present. Give us a league type format with tiered Championship where we can have full houses and cracking games. .

I was immensely proud to be in ASP tonight. What an amazing atmosphere and what a great display by our youngsters. Sure thre was a touch of naievity at times but the key was their fearlessness. They gave the four in a row champions absolutely no respect and took the fight to them. Can you imagine our response in the last few years to conceding two rapid goals? We dug out a victory when a draw would have done and even a spirited loss would have been acceptable. Some totally unacceptable stuff off the ball throughout and the melee after the final whistle bizarre in the extreme but the take home lesson for Dublin is that Kerry won’t be bullied.
I would have been devastated to have missed this match which has more than restored my faith in Kerry football. If it goes on much longer in a similar vein I will be submitting a case for the canonisation of Peter Keane.

Cracking game and contest, yet another chapter in the rivalry that keeps on giving and keeps the game alive and well when all around are sometimes or often maligning it. Important win for Kerry, not so much from the outset of the game but because of the way the game panned out, both in terms of the quality of football, the intensity of the contest, the way Kerry played, and the way the game wound up.
As so often in recent years Dublin found themselves chasing a game in the league against top opposition and almost pulled it off. That's twice now in recent times that Kerry have pulled off a narrow win and that's the sort of win that really helps build a team's mettle and belief and nerve. We had the chances and possession to get a result but fluffed a couple which is a new experience really, especially Fenton missing that last one, not like him. But we never looked like winning this game and two very individual goals kept us in it. Kerry got 19 scores, it's like the reverse of the 2016 All-I semi-final.
So all the talk of Kerry coming good in a year or two was of course clever talk and there's no doubt they are already a very serious live prospect, with the new management team showing equally impressive signs of ability. The bringing back of some older, discarded or departed lads is a very smart move. and the ability of a new management team to get the optimal out of such players is a huge part of success. These guys bring a different element to the young lads, hunger of the sort that only comeback-kids have, experience, and a different style of play too. NO matter how talented a bunch of young lads are, they need some older heads in the early stages.
So Gavin & co have a lot to think about, they won't like seeing the annual league form showing signs of decline, as this can be part of an overall problem in terms of maintaining standards. An interesting year beckons, and if Mayo & Kerry keep going as they have been this national league could conclude in a welter of excitement and contest not seen for a number of years, especially since the semi-finals were got rid of. Dublin needs some points to stave off any threat of relegation!

My hope going into last night was we would really have a go, give Dublin a good rattle and by god we did that. The belief this will give is really important, Dublin are not invincible. 2 all Ireland club titles yesterday also a great day for Kerry GAA.

Kilkennys 5inarow went up in smoke when Shefflin got injured. Dublins 5inarow depends largely on Cluxton avoiding injury.
The last time Kerry beat Dublin in the league in Kerry, Cluxton wasnt playing.
Comerford didnt have the confidence to go long last night and when Kerry turned the screw on him in the second half Dublin conceeded scores.
Having Cluxton, Kilkenny and Connolly back will probably see Dublin do the 5inarow this year unfortunately.
