UCC into the Fitzgibbon final. Shane Conway again playing a big role in it I watched it on youtube. Cracking contest. Level after normal time. UCC trailed by 2 points at end of second period of extra time.... one final attack, UCC player goes down in the box, ref comes in and talks to umpire... penalty... goal... full time. Talk about drama. Shane Conway again looked one of the classiest on the field... one point from the wing at speed off the hurl without catching it as good as you would see at any level.

Big shock yesterday with St Mary's beating UCD. Mike Breen started for UCD but was black carded early. Barry O'Sullivan and Brian O'Seanachain came on as subs. Conor McCarthy and Con O' Callaghan were held scoreless.

was it that big a shock? that UCD team is decent, but nothing special at all and i think Marys beat them 2 years ago also.

Sean O'Shea is such a powerful player and people say they are reminded of Declan O'Sullivan and I won't argue with them but forgive me for going outside the county bounds for a comparison but Sean with his considerable skill and unreal kicking ability and then you throw in his big athelic physique and tremendous high fielding ability reminds me so much of Tyrone's Sean Cavanagh. In any case, what a player and leader we have on our hands - hallelujah! Padraig Clifford brought a huge workrate and energy and was very creative and a word too for Conor Geaney who has got so strong looking and a class finisher.

The final is on Wednesday I believe. Sean O’Shea will hardly be risked against Galway next week

The final is on Wednesday I believe. Sean O’Shea will hardly be risked against Galway next week The game now goes ahead in Portlaoise on Weds night and not Parnell Park as originally scheduled - throw in @ 7.30 in O'Moore Park. Seán O'Shea could certainly due with a break but given his form it would be hard to leave him out.

Micheal Donellan!!!
Micheal Donellan was a machine of an athlete. Blistering speed. Seanie Shea is a fantastic footballer he scores a 9/10 or even 10/10 in a lot of areas. His one weakness is speed though. He’s not slow but he’s definitely not elite in terms of speed. He’s a 7/10 for speed, but he’s clever and is constantly moving to get around this.
He’s nothing like Donellan, his game was built around pure athleticism, power and speed. A super Player.
Declan was a different man too, brilliant player, great ball carrier, kicker and never lost or wasted a ball.
Hard to compare Seanie Shea to anyone really, Trevor Giles played a similar role but is still a different player to him. More similarities with Giles than Declan or Donnellan though.

if you were looking around the Kerry squad to find a player a bit similar to a young Michael Donnellan you might suggest Gavin White

UCC 0-9 St Mary's 1-3 UCC had the breeze (middling to strong) and the majority of the play in the first half. Sean O'Shea as usual just oozing class. Padraig Lucey has caught a couple of nice balls at midfield. Graham O'Sullivan and Brian Begley probably the best of the rest but I'd say that's related to the fact that St Marys are so defensive. All the UCC scorers Kerrymen Sean O'Shea 5 (4 from frees) Graham O'Sullivan 2 Padraig Lucey 1 Paudie Clifford 1 St Mary's fortunate enough to be within 3 points - the goal was an absolute howler by Mark White - he was slow to react to a soft miss-hit effort and he let it slip through his hands into the back of the net. Horror show effort. St Marys have sat very deep and played a congestion defence - will be interesting to see if they come out to play with the breeze in the second half. Peter Keane and Liam Kearns sitting beside each other having the chat in the stands.

UCC 0-16 St Mary's 1-9 (FT)
St Marys pushed UCC all the way to the finish line. Key score was probably Sean O'Shea's point to put UCC back in front when St Marys had gotten it back to level. He had a quieter 2nd half and I think it would be nuts to start him against Galway. St Marys had a man sent off for a yellow and a black. Don't think it was a match changer. UCC's bench was a big factor down the home stretch - I think 3 of the UCC subs scored and the UCC subs got through a fair chunk of work.

Story of the 2 numbers 11, OShea and McGuigan. Brilliant scores from both lads. Surely Clifford is worth a look for the seniors both games i watched he was excellent. Killian Spillane did not really stand out, im yet to be convinced. Well done UCC.

That St Marys full-back line is very decent - they kept Con O'Callaghan scoreless in the semi and Jimmy Hyland scoreless from play in the quarter-final so I wouldn't be judging any of the full forward line too harshly. Yeah McGuigan took some brilliant scores from distance as well.

Yep the 12th point for UCC by SOS was the key one as St Marys had drawn level. The moment found the man as they say.

Jarlagh og did not play well. Lucey is a great man to pull down the high ones. His distribution could be improved. He played very well though.
Graham oSullivan kicked a point with each foot while wearing 4.
St Marys decided to protect the D and it was effective enough if unsightly.
John Gough must have been blindsided again tonight. Surely St Marys should have had a peno in the first half.
