Player burnout ? Games could and should have being played the idle weeks of County Champ No, the games weren't played because, officially, Fossa had some minor players involved with the East Kerry Minors in the Minor Semi Final. Unofficially, the EKB didn't want David and Paudie playing against the Crokes while the East Kerry Senior team were still involved in the County Championship. Oh, and the East Kerry Under 21 Championship hasn't started yet.....

Player burnout ? Games could and should have being played the idle weeks of County Champ The reason Club and County Championships are now played at different times is to avoid club v District conflict of interests ie the Kenmare situation last year. Idle weeks during County Championship same thing. Dr O Donoghue Cup should be played off with seedings between County final and last week end in November.

Semi-final summary:
Rathmore goaled in the first minute (Mark Reen) to rattle the Munster Club Champions. But the champions responded excellently by firing in the next 1-9 in just over a quarter of an hour.
The second quarter was more balanced and the sides retired at half time with Dr. Crokes leading 1-12 to 1-4.
Rathmore bagged a second goal to cut the deficit to 4 after 15 minutes of the second half, and got it down to a two point gap with about 10 minutes left. But it wasn't to be for the men in red and Dr. Crokes advance to the final.
Notable scorers:
Dr. Crokes - Kieran O' Leary 0-6, Jordan Kiely 1-2, Johnny Buckley 0-2, Micheal Burns 0-2.
Rathmore - Shane Ryan 0-5 (0-4 from dead balls), Mark Reen 1-1 and I missed the scorer of the second goal.
Man of the Match Award went to Dr. Crokes veteran Eoin Brosnan.

Clash of the Munster Champions in the Final so. Has that happened in Kerry before in a Divisional Final.
What age is Eoin Brosnan now, 38,39? Fair play to him for winning MOM.

Bit of a clusterf&$* yesterday evening by the East Kerry Board. The final had been fixed for the 22nd for the past few weeks, after yesterdays game it was announcded that the final was now fixed for Sunday 23rd. Cue twitter storm with players from both teams in the final saying regardless of what EKB said, they would be playing on Saturday, A few hours later it was changed back but it just keeps on the theme of how shambolically the East Kerry Board has organised their premier competition the last two years.

I think there are too many old heads in every divisional setup. They seem to be disconnected from the players.

All to easy for Dr. Crokes today in the final, winning by 3-24 to Kilcummin's 1-8 (half time 2-11 to 0-2).
The gap between the county's top club and ninth (intermediate winners) was shown to be quite large in this one-sided event. Kilcummin had two pointed frees to show for the entire first half, while Dr. Crokes added two goals in the final three minutes of the half to leave 15 points between the sides at the short whistle.
Kilcummin did better in the second half, but the winner was never in doubt. Any Mullinaghta scouts present would be very worried.
Scorers:
Dr Crokes: Jordan Kiely (1-6), Daithi Casey (0-5, 1 free), Kieran O'Leary (2-0), Micheal Burns (0-6), David Shaw (0-2), Mark O'Shea, Shane Doolan, Shane Murphy (free), and Tony Brosnan (0-1) each.
Kilcummin: Matt Keane (0-6, 0-3 from frees/45's), Oscar O'Connor (1-0), Noel Duggan and Kieran Murphy (0-1 each).
Agus sin é le cúrsaí peil 2018.

Gooch, Johnny Buckley, Tony Brosnan and Mike Moloney were named to start but did not. Tony was introduced as a sub in the last 10 minutes. Jordan Kiely took the Gooch's corner forward slot and returned 1-6 from play, so it seems to have been a good decision by Pat O'Shea and company.
Brian Looney also scored a point, in case anyone noticed the scorers didn't add up properly in my original post.
Man of the Match was Micheál Burns.

Starting 15 for Dr. Crokes: Shane Murphy John Payne Eoin Brosnan Fionn Fitzgerald David O'Leary Gavin White Shane Doolan Jason Lyne Daithi Casey Micheal Burns Gavin O'Shea Brian Looney Jordan Kiely Kieran O'Leary Mark O'Shea Subs used included David Shaw, Tony Brosnan, Alan O'Sullivan, Brian Fitzgerald and David Naughton for a cracking goal by Kieran O'Leary, although 4 consecutive handpasses were used in the build up. The GAA might modify the proposed handpass restriction to be applicable only in your own half...but that's for another day/discussion.

Brilliant again from the Crokes. They have been a joy to watch this year and Pat O’Shea has done a fantastic job giving games to everyone. 5 major trophies is a fair haul and he deserves credit. Hopefully more to come in 2019.
