i dont think playing those games in killarney adds anything apart from a bit of glamour in terms of name - but a small crowd is lost in there and it takes away from atmosphere and quality.
i played in a couple of those big games and the best one was actually in ballyheigue (as austin stack park was closed) of all places. the sideline was full and it created a huge atmosphere.
that game today should have been played in Listowel or Moyvane, would automatically increase the quality by 20%.

I don't know where you are coming from there. There was 1000 people there maximum today. There would have been half that if the game was in Listowel or Motvane. How does the attendance affect the quality of football? On the contrary, playing on a good surface should result in a better game.

PCD won with 4 late unanswered points.
A gale blew towards Horans end across the field. Sem had it in the first half and scored 11 points in that half and left another 6 after them through poor decision making or poor wides. I think PCD had 6 attacks in that half and Ruairi Begley got 2 goals and 3 points. He was unmarkable.
So just two point it at half time so game over. Not quite. Sem put in a massive effort to stay in it but they conceeded a third goal when a long from from PCD keeper Uosis was flicked to the net early in the second half.
EF and Tommy Griffin were sent to the stand as things hotted up but PCD finished stronger and fittingly Ruairi emerged again as the key man when it mattered.
SEM kicked long with every kickout into the wind and lost possession from many. PCD were a bit cuter with Uosis going short in the first half. Uosis brought off a great save in the first half and the ball went straight up to Ruairi Begley for his second goal. A huge 6 point swing that made the difference in the end.

Serious Munster consistency back west over the past decade.

Excellent summary Mick and great video. For all the talk about Eamonn he is still a clever old fox on the side line.

A lot of fine talented athletes on both sides with excellent ball skills on display in Corn Uí Mhuirí. The Aussies will be sniffing around again shortly no doubt.

Well PCD has a member of the present Kerry senior team mgt and the last senior manager in their ranks! not bad going

I presume they are not short of numbers to choose from. Lost the semi final last year in this competition. They have 9 of last years Kildare minors that got to the Leinster final it seems. They draw from surrounding clubs in Kildare and from Blessington in Wicklow. Kildare schools football have mostly competed in the B competitions, which is poor considering such big centres of population on Dublin's doorstep, Newbridge schools have competed in the A championship recently also.

Rathmore had their chance but the bounce of the ball went Roscommon's way. The period where Rathmore conceded 1-3 and got no score in about 5 minutes was a real killer. A sore loss for the young lads.

Dermot Hannafin from Castleisland won an All-Ireland medal with Kerry seniors in 1953. His son , Dermot, played with Kerry seniors for a while in late eighties/early nineties. As far as I recall he was an army officer, presumably based in Kildare. I noticed that Naas College had a Dermot Hannafin in their team during the recent Hogan cup campaign.
Would anybody know if this Dermot is a son/grandson of the other Demots? Perhaps Misteallaigh Abu would have some knowledge of this.

The Hogan cup is in Fermanagh. Great achievement. It is... but to put PCD's achievements in context St Michaels has c. 710 boys in the school, PCD has c.190.

Thanks for that Kerrygold. Another case of black cat black kitten. As well as having football genes from the Kerry side, Dermot’s mother is a sister of Derry Foley who starred for Tipperary in the mid 90s.
