34 years of flawless work, separating Pat and wee big-boots Joe, 77 AI finals - amazing.
Younger contributors here may not have seen as much as the likes of me but in fairness I think we all agree he stood the test of time.
His standout moment for me was properly catching then GAA President Nicky Brennan on the hop, re Cluxtons wining conversion of a free that had no foul, Nicky's 'revelation' that 'it wasn't going to be a draw' said it all.
Lyster had no skin in that game, apart from a biteen of auld class.
Thank you Mike and all the best to you and your family, the GAA is all the better for knowing you.

Michael has had a long and distinguished career, not just in the Sunday Game. He has worked on many other sporting events also. In recent years, he resisted the lure of becoming a dial a quote 'personality' unlike many of his counterparts. I think his final broadcast is in a months time or so, possibly the All Stars.
I would hope the new RTE Head of Sport would use the change of presenter as an opportunity to overhaul the Sunday Game and dispense with a lot of the the old guard. New voices and faces and a new approach are badly needed.

Great gesture by the lads giving him a signed match ball. A thorough gentleman and professional, never about himself, an essential part of much of our lives following Gaelic games.
