Bradan while I agree with what you are saying- it is possible to have a lot of respect for Fitzmaurice as a man but still think that he isnt upto the role.

It was embarrassing watching people leave the ground with 15 minutes to go. If we had been losing they would have hung around just so they could abuse the team and management.

"Impatient Kerry supporters" getting it in the neck in Examiner today. Those within the Pale must be wondering what the fuss about Rural Broadband is - what with the hoards of Kerry fans ramping up the online negativity over the past while...

OMG. Shame shame on those or the one who sent hate mail to Eamonn Fitzmaurice and it seems some players who give up thier lives for 9 months of the year to provide us GENUINE SUPPORTERS with such brilliant days out TV for those at home and in hospital. Train in all weather in winter months. If those people are so acurrelour they are not needed as Kerry supporters and do not deserve to be called so.

I'd normally agree with you and I always stay till the end no matter how the game is going. The other night though, it didn't occur to me that people were leaving as any kind of protest or sulk. In fairness, the game was well won by then but the season was gone and so you could argue that the support was pretty redundant at that stage. I took it that people were just trying to beat the traffic. Maybe I'm being too kind. Personally, I think they missed out - I really enjoyed that second-half display, the overall disappointment notwithstanding.

As I said, I reckon folks just wanted a head-start back; I doubt it was anything more sinister than that. It's something I normally despise but I wouldn't see it as a big deal this time; the occasion was over anyway (thanks a bunch, Galway!).

Still stuck outside Farranfore for a good half-hour though; clear road once past it.

As others have saod Eamonn was unlucky in the timing of his tenure tail end of a good team and ended when possibly a new era was dawning. His best years were the first 3 really lost a classic v dublin in 13 no shame in thst won a great ai in 14 and made final in 15. This year was alwaus fairly likely to end as it did no matter who was in charge imo but, the previous few years played against him and he knew the writing was on the wall a great servent of kerry and a true gentleman. I just hope the next manager is given the time that will be neccasary to build it will take at least 2/3 years

It's something I normally despise but I wouldn't see it as a big deal this time; the occasion was over anyway (thanks a bunch, Galway!). I reckon it was not unlike the exodus in a knockout championship match when the team are losing heavily. People were obviously deflated at being out of the C'ship (as per events in Salthill) and had seen enough. It was just unusual in that Kerry were winning - this will become more commonplace with the Super 8's. As for enjoying the second half, perhaps the same folk who left were not fooled by the fact that firstly Kildare were down to 14, secondly, threw in the towel and thirdly, were the better team when they had 15 and so lost interest at the non event which the second half became. Finally, perhaps folk were wondering what all the fuss about behind "closed doors training" and/or "wrapping players in cotton wool" by excusing them from club games was when a discernible system/style of play was conspicuous by its absence - for the 3rd Super 8 game on the trot - not to mention the paucity of intensity and hunger in that mediocre first half and decided they had seen enough for another year. Only saying as I was not there. Then again, maybe it was the traffic....

In fairness lads there wasn't a mass protest exiting of the supporters. Kerry people have got enough bad press over the past few days, called from scurrilous to animals to keyboard warriors. A bit of perspective would do no harm here. I wonder is Eamonn's box a match box, a shoe box or from a Hotpoint stand up fridge freezer......I suspect the former. It takes a select depraved tiny minority to write such a letter. Eamonn might regret mentioning it in time. Letters were always there, back in the day before the advent of the home keyboard & printer some resorted to cutting letters from the newspaper and sticking them to white note pads to create their own version of bile. I kid you not. Take a look at Joe McMahon's twitter account, he has put up a hand written letter from his time playing with Tyrone in the past day or two. I'd thank the 18000 fans for showing on Saturday evening and not slate them.

I could not believe my eyes when I saw Kerry supporters streaming out of Fitzgerald Stadium last Saturday night. Why ? Traffic? I never had less trouble negotiating my way. They left at a time when we were playing our best football since the. Muster Final, albeit against fourteen men. Most of them seemed to be heading home through the scoreboard terrace side where young David was regaling us. What did he think? Did he say to himself “ I would be better off in Australia, making a few bob for myself “ Shameless. If Mikey made a a mistake it was in not asking supporters to attend matches but rather in not pleading with those who travelled to stay to the end in order to encourage the young lads. Of course we have been spoiled down the decades from Mick O’Connell to young David. How many of us are worthy of all those incomparable men?
Reflecting on that exodus , imagine rushing away when Kerry are in town knowing that we will not see them again until next February.. It would be no surprise if it transpired that some of those making for the highway were authors of those poison letters to EF.
On a different topic , I hope Donie Buckley was listening to Terrace Talk this evening. It seems a lot of people have high regard for that man.

Speaking of the scoreboard, it was shambolic again on Saturday, the Kerry tally was all over the place. Seems to be a problem for years. Jesus, how hard could it be to fix this? A clock wouldn't go amiss either.

Absolutely not but it happens unfortunately in every county across the country. It comes from a very tiny few of the supporter population.

What is this protection craic about? The players (bar maybe Moran) weren't getting slack this year. Maybe there's knuckledraggers out there at players in their daily lives. If so * these bastards.

Criticism is criticism, players are impacted even if not aimed specifically at them. The pressure of the situation weights heavily on them and this was very evident from the actions of some of the players last Saturday night.
