And the other aspect here is to develop them - not to be winning championships at this age - not the be all and end all

Definitely yeah. Hard to understand and Tomas O'Se touched on it. Stephen Cronin and Luke Connolly fine players for Nemo but don't perform for Cork. Ian Maguire good for the Barrs same way with Cork and it goes on crazy really.

I know lots of guys in Cork football and due to the politics they would not touch the county set up with a barge pole - McCarthy has had difficulty in putting a management team together, offered roles to many, no takers. Eamon Ryan played Sigerson in 1965 - he is a selector. Great guy but football in the 60s is unrecognizable from the game played today. Cork are too insular - nobody from outside the county involved in any capacity - Dublin, Kerry, Galway, Mayo have all dipped in to outside pools - Cork’s priority is hurling, Morgan fought a lone battle for years - no All Ireland for Billy though without Tompkins & Fahy. Seriously think there are worse times ahead for them persisting with same personnel & methods.

I agree Jack Savage very good. Hassett probably best player at that age group in the County. Cian McMahon from Crokes is a good player. Cian Foley (Kilcummin) Darragh O'Grady (Laune Rangers) good player. William Casey (Rathmore) good keeper. Are Dr Crokes Strong u-14 this year? havnt got to one of their games

No not this year. Most of them under again next year. Theyre good at U12 and U16 alright. Alex Hennigan would be their best player. He looks good.

He is very good. Kerry minor I think myself down the road. He is a very good soccer player with Athletic which is my club also. Seanie Fitzgerald Dara Looney Teddy Muldoon Mikey Lynch all good players.
Last year we were good at u14 level. We won the East Kerry championship. We beat a good Legion side in a great match. This year our u16s are good.
Some good prospects.
I think Terry Sparling Erin Moloney Evan Looney Harry Byrne Jack Cooper Neil O'Shea Liam Randles Cian McMahon and Tom Doyle have big futures you will hear about them in the future.
We will have a good minor team next year. Crokes senior team are getting old. John Payne Mike Moloney Alan O'Sullivan Brian Looney Kieran O'Leary Gooch Eoin Brosnan are all in their 30s.
We will need replacements in the next couple of years so it's good to have these lads coming through.

Cracker of a game between Crokes and Na Gaeil on Wednesday night. Killeen was the Venue. The game went back and forth. Crokes lead at half time 1-4 to 0-6.
The second half was the same both teams playing attacking football and trading scores. It finished 1-11 to 1-11.
A great contest from the two best teams in the County. Crokes face a tough game against a good Laune Rangers side next week at Lewis Road at 7:00 on the 25th.

Stacks have some serious talanted U-16 and U-15 players in that team. Laune Rgs not going too good this year it seems. Players on holiday, Irish College etc all effect player availability this time of year.

Crokes face a tough game against a good Laune Rangers side next week at Lewis Road at 7:00 on the 25th. I was also at this game in killeen the other night and it was a brilliant game of football. It was really a game of two halves crokes dominated the first half in my opinion and their interesting and effective approach to na gaeils kickouts was brilliant to watch which brought the kilarney side a lot of joy and success in the first half. As the half progressed na gaeil came to grips with the kilarney side and began to grow into the game. Na gaeil started off the better of the two in the second half as crokes struggled to find a score and the na gaeil defenders were coming out on top in most battles. While they were winning most battles at this stage they also found it hard to create a scoring chance. A lot of this was down to fantastic defending. The crokes full back line performed brilliantly on the night and shackled the na gaeil star man Devon burns. Ive been to many of the na gaeil games this year and he has been outstanding for the tralee side wracking up huge scores at full forward but the crokes defence completely nullified his threat as he only scored 2 or 3 points on the night which would be a very good night of football for most 16 year olds. Due to both teams defending brilliantly both teams only scored 1:11 each which is very low scoring for an underage match. While both teams may be happy with a point each and they both remain joint top of division 1 i think neither team played to their full potential. On na crocaigh's point of these two being the 2 best teams in the county i think it is fair and valid to date but with two more rounds to go stacks may have a huge say in that statement but at this time i think both crokes and na gaeil would fancy themselves against anyone in the county.

I was saying two in the County on form right now. I didn't mean to offend anyone I think Stacks are very good with some very good players as is Laune Rangers. Rathmore and Legion are no bad teams either. An Ghaeltacht and Castlegregory back west. Firies also.
Some good teams in the County. Yes greenmen i agree Devon Burns good player.

16’s semifinal and final will be v interesting . Stacks , Crokes and Na Gaeil all playing well - if Stacks are over their Crokes blip then they will take all the beating - huge scores in last 2 matches .
Looking at U12s - Stacks ( both phases ) and Laune Rangers ( on second phase) well ahead of the pack

Yes I agree. Crokes are away to Rathmore next week. Stacks and Na Gaeil in Connolly Park should be a good game.

Congrats to Crokes u16s this week on a great win v Laune Rangers. Crokes were probably lucky enough to escape with the points v Laune Rangers having led by 20 points at half time. Rangers lined out with out 5 regular starters including Gearoid Hasset. After a very poor 1st half a different Rangers team appeared for the 2nd half and reduced the lead to 5 points with 10 mins remaining. Rangers then missed 2 great goal chances to further reduce the lead. Crokes put the game to bed really with a goal with 5 mins left as Rangers cleared their bench to give everyone a game. Stacks are still my tip to win this competition

Well done to Kerry South on winning the U14 Munster Championship (Jim Power Tournament) in Dungarvan over the weekend. Fantastic displays by them on beating Tipp, Waterford and North Cork in the final.
Future looks bright at this age group - Eoghan Hassett, Rian Colleran, Dylan Roche some of the names to look out for in the future. Well done squad and management.

Beaten by North Cork who were strong. Kerry South took care of North Cork in the final. Feedback is Tipp and Waterford making good strides under age as well as some of the Cork teams. Good for Kerry to be topping at this age level.

How did u15s and u16 get on? What is next years minor team like for an attempt at 6 in a row! Both Kerry teams are in the semi finals; Kerry North beat Dublin 1-11 to 1-03 and then beat Laois 3-09 to 3-03.

Saw the minor championship game of Brendan’s vs Laune .. Truly strange match with Laune only scoring one point ,. Great to see Tralee doing well outside of Stacks and hopefully Na Gaeil will have a county final win tomorrow . Asked a few Killorglin folk and seemingly they missing a few due to injury. Was amazed they made no changes for so long after only registering a couple of scores . Brendan’s a force to be wreckoned with as they took some fabulous points through out the game . Mike Kelliker excelled . Surely a Kerry U20 next year
Any reports of other games

Brendan’s much the better side all over the field - themselves or east Kerry to pose the biggest challenge to Kieran’s

Brendan’s goal coming from a very softly awarded penalty. Gearoid Hasser was a huge loss to them on the night. Brendan were by far the better team with Fergsl O’Brien their most dangerous forward. Thought Sean Arthurs was Rangers best player and got the better of the dual with Kelliher the Brendsns full forward. Joe Lenihan also stood out especially in the first 15 mins of the 2nd half when Brendan’s were well on top.

Brendan’s full value for their win though they might want to think twice about emptying their bench as early again!

Double Header in Austin Stacks Park on Thursday 10th September Lee Strand U-16 County Championship Finals
Plate Final Castleisland District v Feale Rangers at 6.45
Cup Final Mid Kerry Gaa v East Kerry Gaa at 8.00.
4 very good teams taking part in the finals in what should be two very close games. Pity the GAA didn’t put these games at decent times or dates so that people might go watch them. 8 o’clock for an u-16 game on a school night is not a fair way to treat these players taking part. Typical Gaa probably only looking after themselves. There was no reason they couldn’t play these games on Saturday or Sunday.

It may have been very late in the evening to have this county final but there was a Very respectable crowd and it was a game of high quality. Hard to believe it was under 16 . Huge skill levels from both teams and with the quality of forwards on both sides I think both defences were remarkable. The workrate of MK half back line in particular was immense and probably the difference between the teams. The scoring of Matthew Leslie (1-12) was an incredible achievement and something any senior would be proud to produce in a county final. Future for next years minors assuming these two teams make up the bulk of the panel is promising.
