From what i have heard clones would be more akin to macroom one road in and out and only the one street to speak of.

While I think 4pm on a Sunday is a joke for traveling fans I'm due in hospital for a prenatal class on Sat for me and the wife's first child. It was touch and go there for a while when I floated the idea of a Sat game, I was preparing the dog house.

So we will be leaving Clones around 6 on a Sunday evening.... brilliant. Could this match not have been fixed for 2pm and Kildare /Galway be the later one?
Killarney Publicans will be laughing with the Kildare match at 6 on Band Holiday Saturday, a chance for many to stay and make a weekend of it ....

So for Saturday's matches, I'll go with Roscommon and Dublin to win.

Only problem is accommodation. Jesus (forgive me) got a bed easier in Bethlehem. Killarney is jammed. We might have to get the old tents out. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

And the super 8s are up and running. Tyrone cruising against Roscommon. We could have a lot of similar games over the next few weeks.

Most disappointing, really didn’t like the possession type of football Dublin played at the end. It was awful, I’m sure I heard the crowd booing. Donegal were complicite in this also, they should have gone man to man,

Donegal were complicite in this also, they should have gone man to man, I don't think you heard the crowd booing - for a while the Dublin fans cheered each pass when they were keeping possession. Proof that the GAA knew what they were doing when they avoided a clash between Dublin and the WCF.

Actually there were about 3 oles. Boos at the end was Dublin fans getting impatient with the passing. I was at the game , On the hill so I had a very good position to judge this carry on.

Not a very good start to the new format. Ros found out for what they are, very limited. Tyrone are an enigma this year, they look re-energised and are attacking more, scores coming from different players. If they perform very well next week, and especially if they win we can say they have progressed, how much will remain to be seen. They will seek to hit Dublin with all the intensity they lacked last year, should be some contest. Being underdogs will really suit them.
That said Dublin were not very impressive in a cagey game yesterday, they looked flat, as they did in Leinster. Several forwards were very off-the-boil, as was McCauley. Connolly was certainly missed. There were elements of 2012 about the performance, and also that some of this squad is somewhat going through the motions, playing from memory a bit, like Kerry in 2011. The lateral stuff in the last 10 minutes was a sad sight from what was a great attacking team. Again reminded me a bit of Kerry at the end of their last great era.
But Tyrone will tell us alot in a week, so not long to wait to know. Has to be factored in McBrearty was a huge loss to Donegal. Sad to see a great player like MMurphy become what he is, only 9 years on from his U-21 breakthrough. Is it long-term injury?
Really looking forward to today's games, hopefully the Super 8s will take off, we will learn alot about Galway and Kerry. I'd be curious to know if Kerry people feel very confident about beating Monaghan no matter what happens today? The latter will be nervous about playing in Newbridge against a team with momentum and still things to prove. They will be well-primed for their second game if they come through this test.
I think either Kerry with a few to spare and Galway found out as limited, or a very close game with a draw or a narrow Galway win. Monaghan after a scare.

I agree this keep ball at the end of a game is a yawn but I cannot understand why Dublin are taking the rap for it. They were comfortably ahead and therefore the onus was on Donegal to come out and go and go man for man . What was is the logic of " protecting" a four or five point deficit? As I said this keep ball ploy is unpalatable but it is a consequence of this blanket defence phenomenon. Dr. Crokes treated us to the same spectacle in the club final two years ago.
Did Donegal management deserve any bettter when they allow one of the best forwards of his era to wander aimlessly around the middle of the field, particularly with Paddy McBrearty injured. Michael Murphy caught one ball at midfield . For goodness sake , great forwards are a rare commodity. When you have one use him. Madness.

I think if McBrearty had been there they'd have tried to go for it. Without him, and with MM not being the player he was, they expected an increased margin of defeat if they committed more to attack. Maybe just 5 points difference, maybe none, maybe they feel with Tyrone having hammered Ros and close results likely in the other two games between the three better teams that if Dublin lose to Tyrone they have a better chance of topping the group and avoiding probably Kerry. Or if they draw with Tyrone and Tyrone lose to Dublin then who comes second will almost certainly points difference between them and Tyrone........
