Deferred coverage on TG4 This game is part of a double header with the Ladies starting things off at 12 noon and men throwing in at 2pm. The opposition in both games will be Kerry for Monaghan.
Sunday 11th February
Lidl Ladies NFL Division 1 - Round 3
Monaghan (H) v Kerry, 12.00pm, Pairc Grattan, Inniskeen, (B Rice, Down)
Monaghan are bottom of the table on scoring difference, and without a single point from two games.
They welcome Kerry to Inniskeen in another weekend 'double-header', with the Ladies teams set to battle it out ahead of their male counterparts.
Kerry lost out heavily to Cork in their opening League fixture but with Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh in sparkling form, the Kingdom produced an encouraging performance to oust Mayo last weekend.
Monaghan could badly do with a belated kick-start to their campaign but much will depend on how Kerry perform following their long trip north.
Monaghan v Kerry, Iniskeen, 2pm
It has been an encouraging start to 2018 for Kerry, who have carved out wins against Donegal and Mayo.
The promising Sean O'Shea has been a key figure, while Paul Geaney's relevance to the Kerry cause shouldn't be underestimated. Barry John Keane has also showed well for Kerry, who are still without several established performers due to injury.
Paddy Durcan's last gasp score for Mayo was a blow to Monaghan on the opening weekend, but they earned an important win in Newbridge.
MONAGHAN: Rory Beggan; Kieran Duffy, Conor Boyle, Barry Kerr; Neil McAdam, Paraic McGuirk, Karl O'Connell; Darren Hughes, Niall Kearns; Dessie Ward, Dermot Malone, Fintan Kelly; Conor McCarthy, Jack McCarron, David Garland.
KERRY: Shane Murphy; Shane Enright, Jason Foley, Ronan Shanahan; Paul Murphy, Andrew Barry, Brian Ó Beaglaíoch; Jack Barry, Barry O'Sullivan; Micheál Burns, Dáithí Casey, Stephen O'Brien; Jack Savage, Paul Geaney, Barry John Keane.

Its ridiculous playing a double header at this time of the year.
The pitch will probably be heavy enough come 2pm nevermind playing a game before it.

Pitch Inspection to take place in Inniskeen Grattans GAA at 9am in morning. Result will be posted on Twitter as soon as possible afterwards It would be a pain for supporters but it might make more sense to move one game to Clones. Two games on one pitch with the Forecasted weather is asking a lot.

Two games on one pitch with the Forecasted weather is asking a lot. Especially since majority of supporters will be well on their way by 9am. Will be leaving home at 6.30am and many others will be leaving home even earlier. Many Kerry supporters are in Monaghan already.

I cant see the stony grey soil being able to soak up the volume of rain that's given down for tonight.

Not sure. Weather forecast is yellow weather warning and sleet and snow. I doubt it will improve if the pitch is unplayable now with more rain to come all night. Supposed to be a double header as well.

Very light dusting of snow here in Co Antrim but my weather app says that it is currently snowing in Inniskeen and likely to continue until 10am. Also forecasting a snow shower for the afternoon at the time of the match. Not sure how much faith to put in these things but not looking good. I won’t be traveling before I find out but as I live relatively close that is OK for me. But isn’t 9am far too late to make a decision for Kerry supporters who will have to be well on the road by that time?

Very heavy snow falling here in last 15 mins and expected to last so I won’t be traveling. So what if pitch is just about playable. Should have taken the safety of both sets of supporters into consideration. Far too late to wait until 11 to make the decision.

I'm waiting on news it is definitely going ahead before I set off from Dublin. AnothEric concern is that I heard the ground only hols 3,500. Does this mean I have to get a ticket before I arrive or arrive very early. Don't want to make the trek up only to be told it's sold out.

Donegal has 6" of snow cover and rising so salt was for that though I the snow is winning as it is so heavy. Landscape and horizon are, well snow white and there won't be much moving about bar topping up the hot toddys from the couch by those who haven't invested in extension leads.
As regards capacity I never heard of anyone not getting in and with travel so dodgy I wouldn't have any worries with that. Remember that Monaghan is a tiny population and their travelling support won't be helped with Iniskeen being at the extreme East of the stoney grey soiled county though it looks like things are less severe over that direction that up here West.

At midnight last night the latest word was that the pitch at Inniskeen was not playable. So had to make the decision of getting up at 5.30am or not and decided not to. The supporters bus passed NCW at 7.30am so they were already half way on the way to Dublin by the time the first inspection results were in. Since then snow is even heavier and Limerick county council have closed our road.Couldn't even travel if I wanted to. Road to be cleared later today. Snow is very heavy in Monaghan as well and a friend in the west of Monaghan is completely snowed in. Inniskeen is in the east, but I doubt it is much better. Regardless of the pitch condition the road condition is such that travelling becomes very dangerous for those that do travel. But road conditions and safety don't seem to be considered at all.

Looks like the right decision was made but why did it take so long to make the obvious and right decision?

Bit late for travelling support.
Probably be rescheduled for next week as next fixture was Galway at home on 25th.
