Format: 18 teams requires two preliminary games: A) Moyvane v Knocknagoshel and B) Kilgarvan v Asdee.
Winners of preliminary games take the place indicated in the Group stages below, leaving Four groups of 4. Seeded teams are the first named in each group, being the three semi-finalists from the 2017 competition plus the team that dropped down from Junior Premier (Renard).
Group winners advance to semi-finals.
Group 1: Tuosist, Beale, Ballylongford, Duagh Group 2: Lispole, Cromane, Prelim winner B, Cordal Group 3: Renard, Prelim winner A, Valentia, Ballyduff Group 4: Castlegregory, Scartaglin, Tarbert, Sneem/Derrynane
Round 1 games are scheduled for the weekend of March 31/April 1 UNLESS Kerry are in the National League Final, in which case these Round 1 games will be the following weekend April 7/8.
Round 1 games (first named team at home):
Ballylongford v Beale, Duagh v Tuosist Prelim winner B v Cromane, Cordal v Lispole Valentia v Prelim winner A; Ballyduff v Renard Tarbert v Scartagin; Sneem/Derrynane v Castlegregory

Group 1 Ballylongford v Beale. Played each other in first round of the county League Beale won handy enough would expext beale to come through here and win group, Duagh v Tuosist This game is hard to call i would go with Duagh tho if pushed home advantage big in these games Group 2 Kilgarvan v Cromane Would expect Cromane to win here but Kilgarvan have some good players but Donnacdh to shine through Cordal v Lispole This is another close one Championship can bring out different sides to a team. Lispole should get through Group 3 Valentia v Moyvane Valentia with home advantage here should progress with Brendan Sullivan at there disposal Ballyduff v Renard Would expect Renard win here but Ballyduff in a championship is never a forgon conclusion Group 4 Tarbert v Scartagin; Tarbert moving very well in County League again would see predict big win here Sneem/Derrynane v Castlegregory The team that in my opinion will win this competition having great start to county league and will continue this form

So how teams will be separated if they finish level on points in the group, taken from this weeks Kerrys Eye
1) the winner of the head the head meeting between the sides will decide 2) in the event of sides drawing in the group stages or if three teams finish level on top then its scoring difference that decides 3)If teams cannot still be separated, its scores for that will count, whoever has scored the most in their three games 4)If still locked, which would be very unlikely its goals for 5)Finally a play off if still not separated which my come into the equation in the Junior Championship where a team gives a walkover and scoring difference cannot be used.

Tarbert/Castlegregory to qualify. Playing each other this evening. CastleG beat tarbert well last year in the county league. However tarbert looked to have improved going on recent results. So a close game for me. Tough to call Lispole qualified Duagh/Beale to qualify. Hard to call also. A NK battle between a div.5 and div.4 team Ballyduff qualified

Good win for Lispole by 1-11 to 1-08 after being 1-05 to 1-02 down at half time. Beale had an awful lot of wides in the 2nd half and will be disappointed with that. The evergreen Declan O'Sullivan MOTM for Lispole.
