The structure should ensure that the top four will meet each other in a high stakes game in the summer. Its possible that dublin wont play both kerry and dublin. Or kerry wont play both dublin and mayo. Thats flawed Agree with that. The deluxe four playing each other after the super eights giving the platinum two for the final and the winning Gold One would be very dramatic. A great platform for Sky Sports also and pay day for Croke Park........................Inevitable in time with Sky on board now.................... and I wonder is there any american NFL billionaire owner we could flog Croke Park to?

It is only a matter of time before we have Sky Park or whatever else. Duffy tells us differently but he also told us there would be no pay per view.

Speaking of stadium naming deals, no deal has been done for the "new" Pairc Ui Chaoimh naming rights, despite the budget that was provided to the EU saying they expected to earn €800k a year from them.

I couldn't care less if they sell the naming rights to whoever. The Aviva stadium is still Lansdowne Road in my head and I still go to concerts in the Point Depot. (Once every ten years)

(Once every ten years) Kerry Group Park might not be too bad, however on the other hand Sky Park could riffle feathers. Neither name would receive universal acclaim across the country........................

They made the deal with RTE and SKY for a certain number of games when they knew the likelihood of the Super 8's and more "top class" games were on the horizon. (And then with the Super 8's confirmed, the GAA were shoehorned into the new hurling format - further exacerbating the problem). The new hurling format was definitely a knee-jerk reaction to the Super 8's, but in my opinion it has a lot more potential to be a success. It could be brilliant actually.

Thumps up to the county board for the manner in which the club championships have been run off.
As soon as the Kerrys involvement in hurling championship ends, they should run off the county hurling championship ..in about six weeks in july and august. Dryer ground would make for better games and dual players will be free to play with divisional teams once the county championship starts.
There was a 12 week gap between Lixnaws first game and their second game in the 2017 hurling championship!

So Kerry have an opportunity to get to the Quarter Finals even if they do not win the Joe McDonagh Cup, amazing.

Always puzzles me that the hurling Championship can't be run off in a timely and speedy manner. It's a complete joke that it can't be wrapped up in @ 6 weeks tops. Tis lucky there's only a handful of hurling teams or it would go on for 6 months

Can't agree with an open door policy. Not in this day and age where it is possible to transfer every single aspect of what is going on there. It was different in Micko's day where football was played on a 15 vs 15 basis. Man against man. There was no social media and video cameras were the size of a small car. Opening up championship training to the public serves who exactly ? Autograph and selfie hunters. Are other counties inviting the public into all of their training sessions. I doubt it. Try and wander in to Mayo or Dublin summer sessions. I'm sure your view will be the gates closed in your face. I'm sticking my neck out here and saying Kerry will win the A.I. this year or go damned close. I've seen enough to encourage this thought over the past few years. Mayo was a huge cock up last year. Kerry totally underestimated them the first day and panicked on the second. Sights were only fixed on Dublin in the final. This is the only game they were thinking of. I doubt if that mistake will happen again. Our squad is now stronger than at any point since 2011 and I think desperation and the terror of another loss may just see us over that line.

Good post for a discussion board! On Kerry winning! Possible but it will be difficult. A large percentage of Kerry GAA people have little confidence in the management team’s ability to utilize the current squad to its potential. Using history as our guide and in particular the 2017 replay with Mayo I would agree. The fact is many of us – Kerry folk – would be very confident this year if we had a new management team. We don’t so let’s speak to that. We have the best half forward line in many a year with Burns, O’ Shea and McCarthy. To compete with Dublin and Mayo we will need a strong bench such as James O’ Donoghue, Stephen O’ Brien, David Moran, and Gavin Crowley etc… The starting fifteen needs to be strong enough to compete with Dublin for 40 minutes to where you have a bench that is as good or better to give us a fighting chance. We also need to put 2 goals past Dublin in the first half if we are to win. Looking at the first half of the league game versus Dublin we played direct football, moved the ball at speed and had 2 goal changes…..
