With the Munster Final on a Saturday night (June 23rd) this year it looks extremley likely it'll be shown by Sky, any thoughts on this? The Munster Football Final will be broadcast by RTE. That was confirmed shortly after the draws.

As has been stated on here- this debate has been done to death so there is no point in dragging all the old issues over the coals again. However, in the unlikely event that the Munster final was shown on Sky (and you cant go), here are the list of options:
1) Have Sky at home 2) Call to a friend/relative who has Sky 3) Go to a pub and watch it there- you dont need to drink if you dont want to, just order a coffee/toasted sambo 4) Get a Now TV day pass 5) Try stream it online via SkyGO if you know someone not nearby with Sky
Taking into account that its always been the case that people have not been able to see matches live, no matter how much they have wanted.
6) Listen to it on Radio Kerry & watch Sunday Game 7) Listen to it on Radio One & watch Sunday Game
There have been plenty games that people have wanted to see that they just cant but there is a large number of options for those who dont have Sky in their house to watch matches.

I'm merely pointing out that there are options if the situation arises

No argument will convince me that exclusive pay per view championship coverage from Sky has a place in the GAA while it remains amateur and the majority of people don't have Sky.

Your cheer leader responded to another poster with "Bollocks, Bollocks, Five-Star-Rated Bollocks". How classy is that. Its no wonder so few post on here. Some people are put off for crass ignorance.

Maybe your self appointed lead activist role is the issue that frightens people off Mick- you seem to take nearly every thread off topic and back to 2 issues- money & Dublin. Why don’t you offer an opinion on the topic at hand rather than starting arguments.

Eir Sports are showing the Kerry v Galway 2008 monsoon game tomorrow night (Friday) at 10pm. That was an old style shoot-out that you dont see much of anymore. It would be funny to show a 13/14 year old that game now as they'd not recognise the system/style of play

Eir Sports are showing the Kerry v Galway 2008 monsoon game tomorrow night (Friday) at 10pm. How does one go about getting Eir Sports Is this the same Eir crowd that are not now doing rural broadband? I'd love to see this game again. For me it was the only highlight of that grim summer. Paul Rouse was mentioned earlier the thread. He is a historian with a particular interest in the GAA and I always find him fascinating. A great man to debunk a few historical myths. I remember hearing him on the subject of the GAA's attitude to the 1916 Rising. He is mainly on radio and I think he featured in some of TG4's excellent history output.

Where is the clamourous moral outrage about eir and their filthy pay per view deal....or is it just an anti sky thing. Eir are showing games that RTÉ have never shown. Similar story with county club games. RTÉ haven't shown a GAA match since September. Hat tip to the GAA Hour.

I live in rural county Limerick and both Eir and Sky are not able to provide broadband here. The only provider we could choose was Imagine as they work it via the masts on Knockfierna, which we can see from the house. Our neighbours are slightly lower in the valley and can't get broadband at all. They are relying on mobile broadband for the farm. We can get Sky television for the same reason, the masts on knockfierna, but they cannot. Eir sports or any other Eir TV channels are unavailable to us. I'm sure that with the rugby most people won't get Sky sports just to watch the games and support will dwindle. I'm not going to drive to the nearest pub with sky sports in Newcastle West or Rathkeale to see rugby games and won't do so for GAA games either. If I can't get the stream online I just won't watch it. I go to the Kerry games anyway so no need to watch them. I used to be very interested in the old H-Cup, but since it is pay per view only I haven't watched a game. Sky and Eir sports show mostly rubbish and the occasional rugby or football game and I refuse to pay a huge fee every month for the other muck they have on show.

It is the latest version of what was Telecom Eireann many years ago. S ince it was privatised it has been bought and sold several times, many buyers thinking they could make a quick buck only to off load it again like a hot potato. I am very cynical about Eir sports for a couple of reasons. As a virgin media customer I cannot get it as part of the package. I know there are roundabout ways of overcoming that but why have to have 2 providers. Secondly I have gone out to see games only to find that the advertised game is not shown.

If you have Eir broadband its free. I'll watch probably 8-10 live GAA, Soccer and Basketball games on it this month. I can also record the Kerry match on Saturday to watch when I get home Sunday. I'll watch the entire Tyrone-Dublin match when its repeated some other night next week to see how that went. I can also watch the "classic" games such as the one on tonight. I could think of worse ways to spend €16.

When we were nearer to Newcastle West we were told that Eir Broadband was not available, but Eir Sports was if we had the Sky sports package. So we would need to have Sky, Sky Sports and pay separately for Eir sports. That is fine if you like soccer, but for the amount of GAA matches shown on Sky Sports and Eir Sports I find the costs way too high.

Eir sports are providing a great service. RTE have never shown any interest in showing gaa outside the championship. Pity brolly doesn't go on a crusade about this.

RTE are spending our license fees on soccer tournaments with no single Irish team in it and other obscure stuff that isn't remotely Irish. As the national broadcaster they should promote Irish games. Instead they spent millions on Champions League games, Europa cup games, confederations cup, soccer world club league and so on, and so on. Not a single Irish person in sight. They spent our money on soaps like Eastenders, Dr.Phil, and so on. Luckily TG4 do show Irish athletics, GAA, rugby and such. To me our national games should be shown by our national TV stations and we should not be forced to pay a license fee for foreign stuff we can already see on other channels. If people want to watch English and Spanish soccer they can Sky sports, who are showing it as well. Why do Irish people need to pay to see Irish games being played by irish people while we pay a license fee to watch foreign millionaires playing a game with not a single Irish person or club involved.

Also paying my TV license for longer than some posters here are on this earth.
