Have heard some mixed reports about the quality of the new PuC pitch - supposed to be a bit slippy - ok course it might just be teething problems, but still not the greatest. Do new pitches take time to bed in or something. It was in bad shape for the two county finals from what I saw on TG4. i understood that it can take up to two years. That would be based on grass seed being used. You’d imagine that a new sod was used in cork. However that’s Nora given as they are very expensive.

I thought club players were crying out for games?

So Dr. Crokes have conceded the O'Donoghue Cup semi-final this weekend to Legion owing to its proximity to the Munster Final... Interesting precedent. Hard to understand - thought Crokes had a multitude of quality seniors, many of whom don't get game time on the senior team when everybody is available. Perfect opportunity to give the second string a run out.

So Dr. Crokes have conceded the O'Donoghue Cup semi-final this weekend to Legion owing to its proximity to the Munster Final... Interesting precedent. They should have just played their B team who beat Skellig in the playoff the other week and are getting ready for life in Div 3. That B team contains about 7 or 8 former Kerry minors.

So Dr. Crokes have conceded the O'Donoghue Cup semi-final this weekend to Legion owing to its proximity to the Munster Final... Interesting precedent. Not quite the case and I think their reasoning is understandable. I am not the biggest Crokes fan but why should't they be able to field ther strongest team in the O'Donoghue Cup? A week before a Munster final asking to them to play a cup semi final, it's madness. The following is taken off their clubfy page. Members/supporters are asked to note that Sundays game will not be going ahead following a decision tonight of the Club Executive. The following is a copy of the notification sent to the East Kerry Board regarding the decision and stating the reasons for same. Dear Dermot. I am to inform you that at a meeting tonight of the Dr Crokes Club Executive it was decided that we will not be participating in the scheduled O Donoghue Cup Semi Final versus Killarney Legion on Sunday next 19th November. We have taken this decision because of the close proximity of our game against Nemo Rangers in the final of the Munster Senior Club competition listed for Sunday 26th November. Please understand that we fully respect the status of the O Donoghue Cup but we feel that we should not involve ourselves in a game that may compromise our preparation for a Munster Final and our defence of our All Ireland title. This should not be misconstrued as meaning that we are conceding the game to Killarney Legion and we would earnestly request that East Kerry CCC take all possible steps to re-schedule the game to a date after the Munster Final. The East Kerry Championship has descended to a farce this year. Legion have already got a walkover in the Quarter Final from Firies and they could be in the final without playing a match. Rathmore received a walkover from Gneeveguilla in the other semi final but Rathmore later agreed to play the game on a different date. This is on top of Scartaglin withdrawing from the competition.

Anyone care about the Legion players who are now idle for 3 months awaiting a competitive game ?

They played mostly a second team that day. They now don't want to play legion this weekend as it might interfere with their Munster club campaign. What has changed in 2 weeks?

Nemo won't overly challenge Crokes. They won't breakdown Crokes soaking & containing game.

They played mostly a second team that day. They now don't want to play legion this weekend as it might interfere with their Munster club campaign. What has changed in 2 weeks? Crokes picked up injuries in the Kilcummin game that could have been avoided, that has changed. Crokes have also been on the road for 7 or 8 weeks straight and the bodies are obviously tired which inevitably leads to knocks and injuries. Also, the fact that it is Legion means that the game will be played with a savage intensity and will be very physical. If you look through the history, Crokes have always respected the O' Donoghue Cup and recently won 8 in a row in the competition, many club stalwarts pride themselves on their O' Donoghue Cup successes. It's not fair to suggest playing the Division 4 team, Crokes have a winning mentality and playing the division 4 side would all but evaporate their chances of beating Legion.

I think the Nemo vs Crokes game will be much closer than people are anticipating, I hope I am wrong but I can see a game with only a few points in it either way. Nemo have dangerous forwards in Barry O' Driscoll, Kerrigan and Luke Connolly. 3 Cork seniors and their tradition doesn't allow them to fear any one or team. I give them a good chance but see Crokes winning by 2.

Crokes are well within their rights to ask for the game to be moved- I'd expect the same of my club and I'd expect most of us to be the same. Good luck to them

Good luck to them But totally acceptable for Legion to wait over a quarter of the year for this game? Both Dromid & An Gaeltacht would have smaller panels but continue to show the respect of their divisional boards by playing in said competitions.

The south kerry semi finals next weekend have been postponed to facilitate Dromid’s potential involvement in a Munster junior final

Not sure the 1/2 week delay that crokes are requesting can be blamed for legion having to wait a long period of time for this match. I’d expect any club to request a postponement in their shoes- also do you want a farce of a match in which crokes field a B & C team combo? Sure that just makes a mockery of the competition

You gotta play the cards you are dealt and its totally the Crokes prerogative who they should field

If an Gaeltacht had a west kerry match the weekend before their Munster final then they would look to change it. The cards your dealt with argument doesn’t hold- sure matches are always changed for county matches, weddings, etc.

There is surely enough in the Nemo management set up to put a spanner in the works of Crokes. They will surely try to disrupt Shanes quick restarts ...which led to about six handy points v SK.
I think Crokes are in for a big battle here assuming Nemo go about it the right way. It would be very interesting to see how Burns, Kiely etc cope with a defensive system that puts men behind the ball and hits on the break.
I thought there was a bit of the old swagger back in Nemo in the county final

Q: Why is this such a big deal?
A: typical anti-crokes mentally,by the majority of Kerry people.
Crokes are well within their rights to not want to play an O'D cup semi a week before defending their Munster title against one of the biggest clubs in the country. This talk of the crokes panel etc. also shows the respect crokes have for the East Kerry championship by wanting their strongest possible team to play. They are well entitled to free weekend following so many weeks on the go, winning the county champ and represent Kerry and east kerry. The added rivalry with legion would mean crokes would a string team out and there is also the increased the chances of injuries.

And I’ve been accused of anti crokes bias on here before- but f*ck it lads get real- they are well within their rights to ask for the opportunity to change a match especially with a Munster final looming. I’d want my club to do the same and would be fully supportive if they did do gotta apply the same logic.

If the All Ireland club finals are moved to the end of the year or New Years day (which is think could work well) then it probably will mean that Kerrys representative will pull out of theirdivisional championship which are always played in the last two months of the year.

Or play or finish the local championships in the new year if required. It is not too hard to see Crokes desire to have the East Kerry game moved under the circumstances.

Ballygunner started off way better than an Piarsaigh today and were leading by 3 or 4 coming up to half time but the Limerick men finished strongly and flashed over a few points and suddenly they were only a point behind at half time.
Na Piarsaigh dominated the second half and were 4 ahead with five minutes to go when Ballygunner goaled and we were set up for a frenetic finish ...but down the field went na Piarsaigh to score a couple of goals and that was that. Adrian Breen at 10 was MOTM with 1.05 from play.
Hardfought tough clean game reffed by a sensible ref.
That's four munsters in 7 years by na Piarsaigh plus an all Ireland by a relatively new city club in a rugby part of Limerick.
