Can anyone throw some lineage on the minors...any brothers or fathers/grandfathers wear the green and gold?

Big scatter of clubs - 11 on the first 15, this continues the trend of recent years where the minor team is drawn from far and wide. Strangely no player on the starting 15 from the traditional strongholds of Crokes and Stacks and only one starter from Tralee and Killarney - a long time since this has happened.
Best of luck to the team for their QF.

handy enough win today. 9 points.
who is up next does anybody know?
Meath, Monaghan and youd imagine Galway in the semis also.

Yes, Monaghan. Good team and a tougher challenge. Galway would be the overall favourites now, but that means nothing at U17 level

Good win for the minors but looked a bit sluggish for periods of the first half but to be expected after a six week layoff. Good five minute spell before half time gave them too much of a cushion for Roscommon to overcome. Kerry struggled a bit against a strong wind in the second half and Roscommon had some goal chances. Monaghan next, on Saturday week if Kerry progress to face Dublin in the Senior Semi Final. On Sunday week if its Monaghan who progress to the Senior Semi Final

Kerry 2-16 Roscommon 2-07 HT 2-10 0-4
The sky looked threatening when I arrived at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday so I headed for the stand. I noticed the V.I.P. section looked to be sparsely populated and I approached the man at the gate. This is reserved he said and I told him I was a V.I.P. of the genuine kind, saying that I had been following this game for sixty years. Without hesitation he opened the gate. So after all these years, I at last found myself in the V.I.P. section. Looking around at my fellow occupants it was clear they too were in this section for the first time. We all had smug expressions on our faces and why wouldn't we. Try these seats sometime lads. Specially designed for piles and boils of the posterior; soft, plush seating upholstered in the Limerick green. Living at last.
To the game. Kerry dominated the first half but a combination of the strong wind, generous ignoring of the steps rule, a little showboating by some Kerry players , all combined to allow Roscommon back into the game and in the process outscore Kerry in the second half . On the other hand, the match was decided at half time and the outcome was never in doubt.
Kerry operated with Paul O'Shea at midfield and original midfield nominee, Darragh Rahilly, at right wing forward, presumably with instructions to help at midfield as the occasion demanded. Paul O'Shea ensured no helping hand was needed in that area. An interesting alteration was the playing of Paul Walsh at full forward in the first half, where he was a major threat. In the second half he seemed to come further out the field. Kerry started in very sprightly mood and flashed over three points via Ruaidhri O'Beaghlaigh, Paul Walsh and Patick D'Arcy. At that stage a very heavy shower descended and made ball and surface very greasy. Kerry's scoring rate slowed for a while but this was only a short lived respite for Roscommon. All the Kerry forwards looked very skilful and slick and the points duly flowed. If I am correct only three points of Kerry's total came from frees. Fatally for the Rossies, a couple of goals were secured as well. A high ball was dropped into Paul Walsh, for a fast elusive boyo he is no slouch in the air either, he passed it out to Ruaidhri O'Beaghlaigh who shot home. The next goal came from a ball dropped in by Paul O'Shea , again it was claimed by Paul Walsh, a sequence of passes ensued before eventually it was passed across the goal and the onrushing Killian Falvey finished it home. Goodnight Irene. In the process of scoring that goal, Killian crashed against the upright and had to receive attention. He resumed but he must have been very sore.
I have already stated some of the reasons Roscommon came back into the game. Another reason was that they shifted midfielder , Shane Cunnane, into full forward where he was being shadowed by wing back Colm Moriarty. I am not sure why Colm found himself back there but he was conceding several inches and as a consequence struggled a little in his mission, dogged as he is. Roscommon got some profit from exploiting that height discrepancy and I was surprised remedial action was not taken. Either way Roscommon made inroads and scored two goals into the bargain. I also thought that Roscommon's revival revealed a certain lack of pace in the half back line. However, it must be stated that Kerry were far from over run in that half and managed six points against a stiff breeze. There was never a hint of leaving it after us.
I suppose the overall school report would read , did well but capable of better.
All the forwards scored. Paul Walsh had three from play and two frees; Darragh O'Rahilly scored two points from play; Paul O'Shea scored two from play; Killian Falvey and Ruaidhri O'Beaglaoigh had a goal each; Patrick D'Arcy had three from play and Dylan Geaney had two from play and one free. Substitute Michael Lenihan had one play.
Not for the first time in this campaign, Paul O'Shea was the dominant footballer on the pitch. He has a fine physique, endless energy, accurate kick passer of the ball and glue like hands. In normal circumstances we would be saying "and he will be minor again next year". And of course that should not be forgotten when we are evaluating these players. All these boys are u17. A year difference is huge at that age.
Monaghan up next I believe. In the meantime , after the luxury of the seating, I can report a boil free, pile free posterior aspect.

A massive challenge coming up now for our Kerry minors this Sunday. The county of Monaghan is on a high, the support for them on Sunday will be massive and with Banty McEnaney as minor boss we know we have an almighty battle on our hands. Arguably Peter Keane's toughest challenge to date as minor boss to plot a road through the boys from the stony grey soil. Cool heads and strong hearts will be needed.
The best of luck to our minor team and all involved on Sunday! Come on the Kingdom!!

Worth noting that the four semi-finalists are the four provincial champions. Both Kerry and Monaghan had 9 point victories in their respective quarter finals.

Monaghan are a big physical side coached by Banty - their win in Ulster was no surprise - Kerry will be up against it and will do well to win. Meath are still favorites to win it out.

Surprised at Meath being favourites, certainly wouldn't have thought that up here and we've 3 lads from my club on the panel.

Can't find a minor team named for tomorrow. It will be a big occasion and Monaghan will understandably have all the support.
In any case, the very best of luck to team and management. Ciarraí Abu.

I notice Ruairi O’Beaglaigh who got a goal against Roscommon and was a busy corner forward is now merely a member of the additional panel. A serious falling out of favour . He may of course be injured .Players who are omitted due to imjury seems to be a state secret, similar to the the senior panel. Why the reluctance to tell us if a player is out due injury. In any case , best of luck to the young lads tomorrow. They willl have to do it the hard way with little or no support.
