Is there a logical reason the replay is fixed for mid afternoon on a big shopping day in Dublin?
A 5pm fixture would make far more sense,Plus give an opportunity to Kerry/Mayo folk to work a half day Saturday,Also you would imagine a later throw in would be more attractive for TV Viewers.

Probably has to do with cleaning up the stadium & getting it ready for the Dubs & Tyrone the following day. & people getting home in time for the McGregor fight 😂😂

I think there are as many reasons to have a 3pm throw in over a 5pm one
A 5pm throw means most people barely getting home before midnight

I would agree that a 3pm allows families in particular get home at a decent time - no doubt TV were happy with that time too as they have the final veto it would seem.

The fact that it's not clashing with other fixtures makes it easier to fix for 3pm - TV conflicts are usually the basis for match timing these days. Personally and rather selfishly I'm happy it's 3 because I'll be home sooner and we've a 3 match day in Croke Park on Sunday so an early start.

There's also a need to have allow for extra time if needed....

In all seriousness, would Limerick not have been a better option again?

In all seriousness, would Limerick not have been a better option again? Of course it would. I could be wrong but wasnt the Kilkenny-Waterford replay held in Thurles last year? But not a hope Croke Park would allow it in Limerick. If Kerry won then all we would hear was it was the venue/the referee/the roadworks in Clarinbridge so I'm kind of glad its on in Croke Park in that respect.

Limerick may not just be available in any case. They have to play their county championships matches and maybe they are scheduled for Saturday, who knows!

In all seriousness, would Limerick not have been a better option again? Galway would have been a better option. Could Salthill hold 50,000? PS - take Belmullet and Caherdaniel - the most remote points in both counties. Belmullet is 240km from Limerick, Caherdaniel is 200km. And theres no motorway between Caherdaniel and Limerick.

Kerry would want to play in Dublin.

Mayo would have fancied Ennis - the graveyard of too many Kerry sides in recent years.
Seriously Croke Park is the venue the players want - this "multi event stadium" owned by the GAA.
Pity they did not do what the Welsh did with their multi event stadium. The grass surface is a series of boxes that can come out and go back in (squeezed together) meaning the surface is not damaged by other events.
